The Burnaby
Greystones
29/10/2024: Shame there minerals are the baby bottles proberly brought in from the north of Ireland.
Great food and staff
30/09/2024: Food is good (replace dry skinny french fries with chips) - but the cost of soft drinks takes the proverbial. A 200ml tiny bottle of coke for €3 - aka €5 for a standard 330ml can is The Burnaby laughing at their customers. The staff were embarrassed when I said how small the bottle is.
The place isn't that busy and won't be if you're treating Greystones locals like that. Reputation and trust are important.

Caffe Delle Stelle
Greystones
19/10/2024: Terrific value, food simple homemade Italian, and the best coffee in Greystones, but the best thing about the place is the owner, might seem grumpy, but he is a character which is something that is missing in retail nowadays. Don't expect a false " have a nice day !"
11/10/2024: Best coffee in town. Grumpy Italian is a breath of fresh air!

Tiffin by Sunil
Greystones
09/11/2024: My wife ordered us the meal for 2 for my birthday, it was absolutely amazing. We're fighting over what was better, the lamb, or the butter chicken.
28/10/2024: Seems like the best Indian, pure takeaway, place in the area has been discovered. It doesn't look like your regular takeaway already from the outside and once you're in, you get to feel that you're in a different level of dining. The smells, the selection of spices on display, the lovely service. Sorry, no pics, as this was not expected and we just ate it without documenting. We will update this review on our next visit. Now with pricing, it is probably a tad higher than your average. but the difference in quality makes this totally worth it, just wish they were closer

Rise at the cove

05/06/2024: Nice place! We enjoyed coffee and cake on the sun terrace with a view of the sea. Self-service, card payment possible. The staff is very friendly and prepares delicious coffee.

Pigeon House
Greystones
28/10/2024: Highly recommended!!! We stopped for brunch and it was absolutely amazing!!! Hallumi unreal, black pudding delicious 😋 stack of pancakes yummy and the best Irish breakfast we ever had. 100% we come back!
12/10/2024: The antithesis of a greasy spoon, every morsel was a delight, could has chosen anything on the menu and be happy, I chose the Turkish eggs but every plate going out to the other diners looked every bit delicious also. If I could be negative…€3.50 for a small glass of sparkling water was hard to swallow and the scruffy planters and benches on entrance need some love 🤔

La Crêperie Pierre Grise
Greystones
03/11/2024: pros: Lovely atmosphere and surrounding. nice ambience.
cons: crepes are smaller than before and a bit tasteless. I am still hungry after eating although I am not asking for a special diet. It seems like the management has changed. it was more nutritious before.
19/10/2024: Small, quirky Crêperie right on the marina. Perfect for mid afternoon snacks.

Bochelli
Greystones
08/11/2024: Excellent restaurant with great food.
05/11/2024: Came here for a family dinner last week. We were seated in the back alone despite there being a table in the front. Waitress wasn’t the most friendly and didn’t create a welcoming atmosphere.
We ordered three pizzas. As the first two were brought out we heard a plate smash and joked amongst ourselves that it was the last pizza - turns out it was. This is no problem, mistakes are made, however we were not told that this had happened and were left waiting for another ten minutes almost in disbelief as no one came to update us that this had happened. We were forced to share the two pizzas between three of us and by the time the third pizza finally arrived one of the party had finished their meal. Even when the pizza was brought out there was no apology or even an explanation (despite it being very obvious as to what happened).
Given all of this, we assumed that any restaurant concerned with good customer experience would have taken this item off of the bill or offered a free desert. This wasn’t the case. Left feeling very disappointed and certainty wouldn’t return.

Enso
Greystones
29/10/2024: Almost everything comes from freezer or cans.
Pizza slices like Margherita made and left on the side for hours, ready to be used for next customer so no fresh at all!!
Also pizza mistakes reheated and reused, ready to go.
Caprese salad is not even close to a caprese, super cheap Mozzarella and a disgusting tomatoes on a broken plate.
Kitchen was full on dirty and smelly kitchen towels probably have been used inside the kitchen for year!!!!!!
Almost everything is frozen or tinned food.
The pieces of Margherita (pizza slices) are always prepared first, and ready to be used at the moment but perhaps they have been prepared hours before, therefore not fresh!!
Many times the wrong pizzas are reheated and reused, ready to be served.
Caprese is not even a distant relative, super cheap Mozzarella and a disgusting tomato on a broken plate.
The kitchen is always full of dirty and smelly kitchen rags, probably used in the kitchen for years!!
27/10/2024: Great local pizzeria , tasty pizzas , great service and clean restaurant. Always a good experience

BEAST FOOD
Greystones
28/09/2024: We went in to The Beach House today looking for a table outside as we had our dog with us. We were turned away by a lady with a foreign accent. She said we would get cold sitting outside and they were not serving food outside. We left and went next door to the Boat Yard and had some lovely food. When finished we walked by the outside sitting area. There were several tables of people eating food with their pets. We were very disappointed and wonder why we were refused a table and hour before hand.
28/09/2024: Nice ! But, where is my Cheesecake ?

Las Tapas
Greystones
21/10/2024: Excellent in every respect. Genuinely authentic and consistent. Staff were brilliant. I've been raving about this place since my first visit
28/09/2024: Las Tapas is in a great location right in the middle of Greystones. Its warm ambience with candles and old school Spanish décor makes for a welcome change from the rush for glass and steel that too often befall restaurants these days. It has a genuine authentic charm to it that makes you feel like you've popped into an old school Barcelona Tapa bar. The service is warm and pleasant and relatively efficient, with a mixture of local and Mediterranean staff.
The menu looks great with some regular choices that you'd expect from a decent tapas - Albondigas (meatballs), Pil Pil prawns, Padron peppers, Bravas etc, interesting vegetable dishes and plenty of gluten free options if required (although why bravas needs flour adding to it I don't know?)
The wine menu on the other hand is distinctly average and expensive. The Whites, for example, are heavy on Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc etc. I'd expect more Spanish grapes in a Spanish restaurant. But it's understandable in that they most likely sell better due to being recognisable and familiar. They're also expensive. There isn't a Spanish grape based wine less than 40 euro. A suggestion might be to find a genuinely decent basic house Spanish rueda or similar that can be bought for a reasonable price maybe 30 euro.
But let's go back to the food. After 15 years of existence, time seems to have taken it's toll on the menu. It feels like they've run out of enthusiasm for the food. The problem is that it's just not very tasty. It's not unpleasant, just a bit dull. Let's take the basic - Prawn Pil Pil. You get around 6 very small prawns with hardly any garlic or chilli. It's bland and uninspiring. With Pil Pil you want to soak up every last piece of the oil and garlic with bread, but you just don't with theirs. The prawns are tasteless and whilst OK, the dish just doesn't inspire. There's just no care gone into it.
On the vegetables, take the Espinacas con garbanzos (spinach and chickpea) as another example. It tastes like a tin of chickpeas with spinach and a tin of tomatoes thrown in. There's no flavour, no seasoning and it's just dull. In Spain, it might have had a dash of sherry in it, or a hint of pimenton, but there's no seasoning at all, nothing. It reminds me of the La Tasca chain the UK. All the usual dishes, but bland and adapted to perceived local/Irish tastes.
It feels like they've given up. And that's a shame because I SO want this place to be great. With options like Port House Ibericos, El Cellar Blackrock and of course Tapa de Lola, people are upping their tapas game in Dublin and Wicklow needs to take note.
With such a great location and ambience and very friendly staff, this place could be legendary. I hope that the fabulous team take note and have a refresh of their menu. I get that prices have gone up, but you don't need to spend a lot on Spanish food to make it great, you just need to have the passion behind that food, and that flame seems to have been dwindling. Let's hope that they can turn it round, as this place could and should be so much better.
My advice would be to go and see what the competition have been doing and take note. Reduce the size of the menu and focus on making fewer but better tasting dishes that they could become famous for. Customers in Greystones and the surrounding areas have changed. There are plenty of exciting options popping up now that are pushing the boundaries, and they expect more.
Las Tapas needs to change. It doesn't need a visual transformation - that's part of it's charm, it just needs to refocus on it's core - the food, and re find its passion. I really hope it does

Burrito Box
Greystones
02/11/2024: I did not even receive my meal. After waiting 45 minutes I rang to say my food still hadn’t arrived and I was assured it was on the way and with the driver. After the 2 hour mark when the food still hadn’t arrived I realised it was 20 past 9 and they were closed. I had to ring multiple times and was then told I wasn’t receiving my food. I’m a very unhappy customer.
28/10/2024: Sorry but I prefer my burritos Tex-Mex style. Having read the positive reviews I was excited to try the burritos. I thought tzatziki on the menu struck me as odd (I prefer sour cream on my burritos) but thought I’d give it go. Very disappointed, turned out to be a sloppy flavourless mess.

The steak shop greystones
Greystones
04/12/2023: Food was amazing But I almost lost my order so -1 star
30/11/2023: Visited on Saturday for our first time out with the little one and it was amazing. Having ran pizzerias myself in the past I can be very critical however this hit the mark on all aspects especially on service where the host/manager was lovely and congratulated us with a starter on the house. This is what I call going the extra mile and I look forward to returning to this establishment. The bathrooms are immaculate also which is also a positive when you have a child who is quite young.

28/07/2024: Great spot for a shake in Greystones today in the sun. Shake was spot on, nice and friendly service as well despite just one person working and it being a very busy period. Will be back!
