Abbeyglen Castle Hotel in Clifden

We've had an amazing stay in this beautiful and authentic Castle, I can't thank you enough. Brian and all the staff are the real definition of "warm and welcoming", rooms are cozy and comfortable, restaurant with truly high quality menu. I wish we could stay longer than one night. Great first time experience in a castle! Beautiful castle and grounds, great bar and dinner was fantastic! Try the local lobster it is so sweet! Definitely stay here again.

Lovely experience at the abbeyglen. Staff were excellent especially Clara on reception, Justin the server, and John the barman. The entertainer was probably the best I've ever seen. The gourmet 5 course meal left a lot to be desired. No beef or lamb etc. I had chicken on a bed of rice with sweet and sour sauce, and my wife had cod, both far from gourmet food, 29 euro supplement for sole, rip off. The breakfast in the room was awful. No option of a full irish. Had two poached eggs sitting on a square of soggy bread. Stayed in roundstone house hotel and Leenane hotel as part of this trip, food in both establishments far superior without a doubt. Did I enjoy it yes, would I return no. Big song and dance made on checkout relating to 2 complimentary tickets to kylemore abbey which I thought were included, but was promptly told by owner and reception staff that I booked the wrong package, pathetic really after spending 700 euro in the place.

Authentic old castle hotel. Timeless, great service, clean & today. Beautiful spacious bedrooms & unbelievable bathroom size with shower & seperate tub bath.

Yup, it’s a castle, 🏰 it’s a fairy tale come true! So so beautiful! And I love how green the walls are!

My daughters and I recently stayed here at this absolutely beautiful castle. The staff was wonderful and so welcoming and friendly. The evening started off with a champagne meet and greet with a terrific host! He was a great storyteller and so engaging. He made everyone feel as if you were an old friend. The food and accommodations were amazing! You just can’t say enough about this place. Truly a wonderful experience!

We just spent two fabulous nights in your beautiful hote!, what a pleasure, the suite was amazing, understated elegance features in every inch of the hotel, the breakfast fabulous!! the management were so freindly and accomodating, definately will make a return, and not forgetting the gorgeous parrot 'Froda', an intrigueing addition to the staff. Rooms clean and well maintained. Staff is pleasant, friendly and welcoming. Grounds are beautiful! Breakfast is amazing. The only drawback here is the shower. Shower head should be extended outward so you're not having to stand over the tub faucet when rinsing. Not a deal breaker by any means. I would still highly recommend staying in this historic castle!

For the Ultimate West of Ireland experience!. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Very homly atmosphere in a beautiful location. Friendly people in all restaurants and bars surrounding also.

Didn't stay, but had a superb dinner. What welcome, atmosphere and ambience. Everyone having a wonderful time. Homely, warm, professional...all details taken care of...a great and friendly groups of people staying as guests. Overall exceptional. Owner Ronan invests a huge amount of time and energy to make everyone feel welcome. He has lovely touches and methods of making that happen. I won't spoil all the amazing surprises.
