Simply not enough stars to award to this champion of wine bars, sublime, fun and such amazing staff who clearly enjoyed their work - just fantastic

We got so lucky to find Black Pig in Kinsale. We arrived in town after a long drive in the off-season and didn’t have reservations for dinner. We “found” Black Pig and luckily they had 2 seats at the bar. This is an exceptional dining experience. Its warm embrace comes from the ambiance of the intimate rooms and the welcoming staff. Veal carpaccio was a special of the night; it melted in our mouths. Monkfish bites and liver pate were to die for!!! It has a local, neighborhood vibe…many patrons knew each other which adds to the hospitality of the place. We’ll be back. ☘️

This was one of your favorite discoveries in Kinsale. All Irish sourced, organic and sustainable, which is apparent when tasting the dishes. The flavor is off the charts! Could not recommend this place more! Highly recommend reservations. However, if you are a group of 1 or 2 and fortunate to get there 15 minutes before they open like we were, you may be able to snag one of the highly coveted walk-in seats at the bar.

Absolutely phenomenal food. The butter with the prawns was exquisite, and the panko monkfish was the star. The mushrooms on toast was surprisingly delicious. Great but maybe a little bit extensive/confusing wine menu.

Only word for this place is exceptional. The setting, food, staff. And…. the value for money 👌🏻👌🏻 It’s unusual to come away from a restaurant in Ireland these days genuinely feeling you had a great experience, without having to spend a fortune. But the Black Pig has nailed this. Can’t wait till I’m in Kinsale again. Thanks for taking care of us!

Dropped in late (9.30pm) for a few glasses of wine and a plate of oysters. A great selection of wines and we weren't disappointed by our choices. Had a dozen oysters that were fresh and delicious.

This is a great place, book early if you want a table or go for the bar for a dinner as a ‘walk in’ but be early.
With that out of the way, food is gorgeous, it’s not a steak place, it’s all very elegant and tasty. Wines and cocktails are available massive wine list and even the more exclusive wines are sold by the glass. Ambience is great service even better ( we spend 4 hrs, struck up a conversation with other diners) it’s that kinda place..

This is quite simply the best wine bar/restaurant in Ireland. It has got the food dishes matched to a superb wine collection/choice absolutely perfect. And the best part is that the staff at this 'must-visit' wine bar are similarly superb. Hard-working, super friendly, knowledgeable and passionately enthusiastic about working at the Black Pig. All of this is a tribute to the architects of this wonderful venue, Gavin and Siobhan. Two of Ireland's most likeable business entrepreneurs.
I have already mentioned the wine list. IF you can't find a wine to match your palate here, then become a beer drinker!!! And the prices for what you are getting will not be matched elsewhere.
But this is not just a Winebar. The food (tapa's) is wonderful. From the mushrooms on toast to the tomato/feta cheese dish to the smoked salmon (my favourite) to prawns to the monkfish to the 'specials' you could be forgiven for coming just for the food alone.
The desserts are equally 'unavoidable' ............ although you may not have room at that part of your evening.
The atmosphere is always buzzing. Such is the restaurants reputation, it is always full. Booking in advance is essential. There are 2 sittings per evening in peak season.
Between Man Friday and The Black Pig there is NO need to go anywhere else in Kinsale for the evening dining part of your vacation.
Enjoy your visit and all the great wine and food that this wonderful venue offers

WOW, we heard some locals talking about this place and decided to give it a try and I am so glad we did. We got a spot at the bar by luck as it looks like you need reservations to get a table. We stopped in for a glass of wine and ended up with a couple, a lovely charcuterie board, liver pate and a night cap with a bit of chocolate. This place has the coolest vibe. The employee work in unison and the small kitchen was putting out amazing food. If in Kinsale, don’t miss this place.
