We visit Rua regularly and it's always a 5 star. The food is superb 👌. A little bit more pricey than your usual cafe but well worth it.

Cafe Rua is rarely quiet and for good reason. Never less than imaginative, with a twist of orthodoxy thrown in - the food here really is delicious. The service and warmth of the welcome is second to none. This restaurant is a credit to Castlebar and Mayo. We look forward to visiting it every time we are in Mayo.

Was recommended this cafe when I was heading to Castlebar for Connacht v Munster match. Staff were very welcoming & good gluten free options. Very pleased that I was told about it.

Came here before Connacht v Munster for an unreal roast mayo beef sandwich and couldn’t have been made feel more welcome. Staff were so accommodating and treated us like old friends

The staff is always on point, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. The drinks are excellent, and there’s always a great buzz whether you’re there for a casual evening or a big night out. Its central location makes it the perfect meeting spot, and it’s quickly become one of the go-to venues in the area. A brilliant addition to Castlebar’s social scene; highly recommend it!

15/08/2025: What a gem of a restaurant! We had a warm welcome from the kind, warm and very entertaining Peter, and his team. The food was fantastic. Down to earth, unpretentious, good value, but high quality and delicious - exactly what we were looking for after a long drive from Dublin. We enjoyed hake, salmon and sea bass with a delicious lemon sauce, mash and vegetables. There's a lovely atmosphere and homely feel to the restaurant, with so much attention to detail and attentive service. Highly recommended.

Wait times are short, and the selection of dishes is well-prepared and varied, so you're sure to find something you like. The ambiance is lovely, and you can linger there for a long time. Highly recommended!
