The house was closed during our visit in August 2026, so we couldn't see the inside. However, the surrounding park and walking trails were beautiful and well worth the visit. The riverside path and the bridge offer lovely views and are perfect for taking photos. A peaceful spot for a relaxing walk, even if the house itself isn't open.

They're just about to spend €55,000,000 restoring. In a couple of years it will be wonderful, I hope. Meanwhile it will be a building site. It's a period house not a hotel. Dunno why Google thinks it is a hotel.

Just visited this beautiful site Thursday and found out that it is closing for the next two years for renovation works. The house is beautiful but definitely in need of some TLC, would definitely revist to see it in all its glory once work has been carried out. We particularly enjoyed the Swan pedalo boats as this was a new experience for my kids. Would totally recommend a visit once it is up and running again

Westport House is a wonderful place to visit for both families and history lovers. The house is beautifully maintained, with stunning gardens and scenic grounds to explore. The atmosphere is peaceful, and there’s plenty to see and do for all ages. Whether you’re interested in history or just looking for a relaxing day out, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Very opulent manor house. A lot of history to be discovered in the about 30 rooms that are accessible to the public. We planned for a 30 minute visit and stayed two hours - there is just so much interesting stuff inside this house. There is even a dungeon. Unfortunately the upper floor has a mold problem and some of the other areas there are in dire need of repair or at least a touch-up. Because of that, they will close the house soon, renovate it thoroughly and then reopen it in two and a half years (that would be 2029 ...). Admission is 15 Euros, same for the guided tour. Woul recommend to explore the house on your own, since the tour only covers the first floor.

The West

26/08/2026: Visited here multiple times during our stay in Westport. Everything we tried on the menu was excellent, the beer was cold, good service. Steady busy but not packed and we never had issues getting a table. Will definitely go back when in the area.

An Port Mór

11/08/2026: A Port Mor did not disappoint. We enjoyed the three-course dinner, chose different dishes for each course, and shared tastes. Hard to pick a favorite, but the pavlova was a standout. The carafe of house white wine was just right for two.
06/08/2026: Chef Mallon’s much revered expertise paired with a healthy dose of no-nonsense attitude makes for what may just be the finest dining experience in the west of Ireland
