Never in my 52 years on this planet have I ever experienced a genuine traditional Irish pub with fabulous musician for a trad session on Tuesday night. From the owner to the whiskey drinking bar man and musicians. Love you all. Had the time of my life. Thanks Sarah for the lift home... Gerard & Jenny.

Brian Boru on the Hill

06/09/2025: Our favorite pub in Ballina — and not just for the Guinness. Brian Boru is a locals’ favorite with some of the best pub food we’ve had in Ireland. The seafood chowder with brown bread, bangers and mash, chicken bacon Caesar, and chicken vol-au-vent were all outstanding. Michael, the owner, and Klyde, the barman, are extraordinarily welcoming (even by Irish standards), and the regulars are as interesting as they are interested in you. We visited often and can’t recommend it enough.
