We had a meal there 8 February 2025. Everything was fine until we ordered two glasses of wine and asked for the bill, after we paid another waitress told us to hurry up and leave as soon as possible as the table was booked for a second sitting due to arrive later. It was abrupt and bluntly done and no need as we were leaving anyway. It spoilt the experience. As once you paid and left a nice tip they wanted you gone.

The seafood chowder is salty and so delicious! It tastes great when dipped in butter and bread. 3 euros per oyster. 6 pieces for 18 euros... A little expensive, but the taste is good :)

Had a couple of hours to spare in town so walked in to Quinlans. Had the prawn, mussel and chorizo linguine. Gorgeous dish - does not scrimp on the seafood, which can happen at other restaurants, and so full of flavour. Lovely coffee to finish off. A little oasis in town I'll be revisiting.

I ordered a Pan Fried Fillet of Sea bass, with a delicious mussels risotto. While my girlfriend tried a Pan Roasted Hake. The dishes are not so large but very substantial. The quality of fish, shrimps and mussels is truly high.

Dinner here with friends. Efficient check in warm welcome. Great service our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine. Some had starts main course some had main course and dessert. I had pan baked hake and fronteria potatoes. It was delicious fish cooked so well 😋. Dessert was Annie's cookie in skillet with fresh cream and ice cream. Our wine was Argentinian Malbec €36.00 a bottle a little pricey but very nice wine. Everyone enjoyed their meal a great place to dine. Highly recommend 👌 👍. Ann Maher

Was here last night with lovely Ursula and some of our great friends for dinner Super ambience here and nice buzz. The food was superb. Everyone enjoyed it immensely. I had sizzling prawns and they were great! We were attended to by the lovely Deirdre. Overall a smashing experience. Highly recommended

Had high hopes for this from TripAdvisor reviews - was our most mediocre find in Cork - most of the fish meals were fried and even then were not spectacular at all. Reminded me of a Red Lobster in America - seriously. There are many other options in my opinion, sorry to say.

Jacques

30/12/2024: We had a great experience here. Sarah was amazing and the food was delicious.
02/12/2024: If we could give Jacques 10* we would. Such great service, wine to die for, and the food was just superb 👌. 3 of us shared 5 small plates and to finish a cheese board and I can't recommend this place enough.

The Spitjack, menu

14/02/2025: Amazing!!! I will come back more often.
06/02/2025: Real quality ingredients with great menu options. Friendly laid back service and a nice welcoming atmosphere. Only reason not to make it a 5* is because pricing seemed odd between the two dishes we ordered. Full Irish breakfast included coffee and toast for €15, great value for the quality. Veggie Bap was also €15 but the tea ordered was charged at an extra €5.
