The Helm in Westport

This review is of the restaurant; we didn't stay at the hotel. Two of us went for dinner. We left very satisfied with the food and, above all, with the very friendly staff. We ordered salmon (€24.95) and roast prime beef (€19.95). Everything was delicious and the portions were generous.

The food is delicious, the service is attentive, and there's a great atmosphere with live music.

Vini and the team were so helpful, right from the moment we arrived. Chaperoned by a staff member to one of the self-contained apartments above the bar, we were given a quick meet-and-greet and we're familiarised with the amenities. Apartment was warm, with everything you'd need (including washing machine and dryer) and the bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower was modern and well put together. Next morning for the breakfast, we came down and were treated to a great cooked Irish breakfast. There were also cereals, yoghurts, fruits and toast additionally, with juice free to serve yourself beside the bar. Staff were incredible, right from check-in, to the evening drink at the bar, to the breakfast service. You can really tell that the place is well looked-after, when you see that all the staff are so enthusiastic and conscientious. We look forward to coming back again and spending more time there. When you have a location like that, it's hard not to be excited to come back.

Came in to eat for two different evenings during a short stay with my son. The food was simply wonderful, excellently cooked, and neither cooked to quickly or had us waiting hours. The staff were the best I've come across in a long time. Would recommend to anybody travelling to Westport.

It’s the decent restaurant for seafood dishes with good quality of the ingredients. They are staffs providing the good service. The atmosphere is cozy and fine dining. It’s lovely place in Westport with a good spot.

Booked a table early evening. Were jammed into a corner on a high table despite restaurant being quiet. Food was mediocre...beef stew was more potato than beef, Hake was tough and chips undercooked. Kids meals were good but chips also under cooked. Very disappointed for the price paid Would not return

We have been twice this week to The Helm. I don't know how we missed this place on previous visits to the Quays ..on sat night we have the seafood player with prawns, aalomi, crabs claws etc.An.array of beautifully 😋 tasting fresh fish Last night we returned.I.had been so disappointed with a poor seafood chowder we had whilst visiting Clifden the previous day - so I thought and hoped The Helm would offer a different proposition..Whaoo. It was unbelievable! Copious amounts of chunky fish ..a full meal in itself along with their homemade treacle bread.We enjoyed their meaty mussels and then fish n chips . We will be back today for lunch 😋
