The Spitjack, menu in Cork

Ate here a few years ago, found the chicken and waffles awful. Definitely do not get them. Expected maple syrup and sweet waffles, but got a savoury meal instead. This was before they had a description with the dish, so at least now you know what to expect. I ate there recently and had the chocolate waffle, and a taste of the fruity french toast. Now these dishes were impeccable. Although i will say with the chocolate waffle a bit more cream would be nice as the chocolate sauce tends to be top rich. I ate with a group and we found the portion sizes to be very good. The dinners looked nice as well. Also the pink sangria is fab! I wish there was more dessert options than the two we had been shown; as one member of our group had a nut allergy and didnt like the sound of the other dessert. I would definitely recommend to go here other than that upon my second visit. Definitely a spot not to miss. Book ahead though as its always packed!

The service here was so kind and accommodating. I ordered takeout and they offered my a table to sit and wait at while the food was prepared. That was so nice. The rotisserie chicken was delicious. The team here at SpitJack was so kind.

Ate here again for the first time in about 7 years and the headline is I won’t again. The staff were very friendly and had us seated for our reservation immediately and were attentive and polite throughout the evening so no fault to be assigned there. The food and drinks were where it was let down. To start we had the chicken croquettes which were alright and the salt and pepper calamari which some were roasting and some cold. This has us concerned and we both had mild tummy cramps into the night. The mains were again ok. I got the ribs which were fine but nothing at all special and my wife got the hake which again was nothing special. The desert menu was very dissapointing honestly. I settled for the tart tatin which was nice enough but was the best of the options from my perspective when Apple tart is the safe bet. My wife had the brownie which was fine. The cocktails were fairly mediocre and I have a very strong suspicion they are all pre-made. The mojito was easily one of the most bland I’ve ever tasted not bad tasting but none of that zing of a good mojito. My wife did love the bramble so kudos there. The pornstar martini came served completely out of place with the restaurant in a vhs box to look like a tape of the name of the drink. With the “mix” in a hipster flask. It didn’t taste or look remotely like a porn start martini with more of a taste of grapefruit then passionfruit honesstly, none of the foam etc. weird. We left with the summary of “it was grand but never again” we don’t get out much and when we do we want something special of which there are much better options in cork. Kudos to the staff though all very nice. And the toilets were very clean and modern which was a good mark.

I was there for a week and it was my favorite restaurant, the place is really cozy and comfortable, the service is good, and high quality food. The beef hamburger is delicious and also the roasted chicken, my favorites ; beacon is great and pepper sauce was an amazing upgrade for my steak.

Good food. Just wanted a Guinness, Murphys or Beamish but had to take some inferior stout bottle. Buy a case of regular Stout please. I heard 4 other people asking for one of the three I mentioned and all being disappointed. This must come up everyday. Food was good beer selection is not for a place that sells unique food + burgers.

Excellent food and service. Staff is attentive and efficient. The food was terrific the two times we visited.

Amazing food and warm welcoming service. Had tasty pork belly tostada to start, then succulent roast chicken burger with yummy fries and fresh salad followed by delicious pecan brownie for dessert. Very accomplished cooking and gorgeous restaurant. Would certainly return.

Décor soigné, service ok. Un peu dommage de devoir prendre 2 courses le soir pour 36 euros. J’aurais aimé choisir un seul plat. Nous n’avons pas pu finir notre plat car nous n’avions plus faim : c’était un peu « boubou » les croquettes de poisson et frites. C’est bon mais pas assez fin et pas assez relevé.
