The best restaurants in Baltimore

05/01/2026: Generally I was disappointed with my experience at Casey's especially as it was over €200 for one night B&B. The room was in the 'Lodge' which looks like a badly renovated red bungalow next door to the main hotel - see photo. Granted it was relatively quiet considering the main road was a few yards away. The bedroom was at the back of the building. The bed was comfortable. I was not convinced about the build quality of the lodge - e.g. the door handle on the bathroom was starting to fall off. The large bathroom window (which faces the road) had an opaque plastic film on it which looked like it too was about to fall off - hopefully when one is not sitting on the toilet! The temperatures were near zero when we returned to our room at about 20:00 - it was very disappointing that the room was like a fridge. It transpired there was a problem with the heating. An electric heater was then provided. The bathroom was cold even when the heating worked. The breakfast was pretty functional - the cooked breakfast had the look of something that had been deep-fried in one go, with the black pudding as solid as a gobstopper! Service was friendly and efficient. Generally it was all ok, but I would not go back.

30/11/2025: Loved my stay in Caseys the owners are so lovely and make you feel so welcome.. all the staff are very friendly ..😊 can't wait to return for more of there wonderful food 😋

04/01/2026: The service was great ..friendly and prompt when we arrived. The pot of tea was lovely and that's about all the positives. The seafood chowder was not seafood chowder. It was some kind of seafood and veg soup. The fish tacos were all soggy and the fillings were extremely mean. The fish one tasted mostly of the mountain of shredded cabbage on top of it, the beef one was extremely chewy and the pork one tasted like dog food! It was actually disgusting! They should be ashamed of themselves serving that up! We had left home late that morning to get the ferry to Sherkin and just made it on time. We walked the length and breadth of Sherkin and got the ferry back to Baltimore beyond famished, having not eaten anything at all that day. We still left a lot of food. It was inedible. The waiting staff disappeared once the food was served. I went to the bar to get water. The glasses were all spotty and cloudy. They looked dirty. I had to also go to the bar to ask for salt and pepper. I really wouldn't recommend this place. I'd actually strongly recommend avoiding it.

31/10/2025: There's nothing like a pint outside here on a summer's day, or a lovely pint by the fire in winter time. Lovely pub, great bar staff.

13/10/2025: Pub near the small harbor. Nice atmosphere and decor. Historic venue and lovely atmosphere inside.

23/06/2025: We had a rather mixed experience for dinner. When making the booking I had requested a table around 7pm but was told there was a big group coming in at that time and we could only be accommodated at 6pm. When we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant and when we left it was still very empty. We were seated in a section of the restaurant on our own which meant the atmosphere was unfortunately very lacking. The food was good but not fantastic in my opinion; the vegetables in particular were over cooked and mushy (courgettes and peppers) and the potatoes were just ok. There's beautiful fresh produce in West Cork, particularly in summer, and it was shame not to see this reflected on the plates. The fish and venison which we had were very nice. The location and grounds are beautiful.
