18/10/2024: Stopped in for a pint while hiking the Beara Way, The bartender was great, very friendly, nice to talk to, gave some good advice about that part of the peninsula. The other customers were friendly and made good conversation. MacCarthy's is exactly what an Irish pub should be.

10/10/2024: Lovely reception upon arrival, given a choice of tables, we chose by the fire. Good selection on the menu. Fish was so fresh & tasty. Excellent. Good dessert menu too, but we declined as we were full. We were hoping for lobster but not on the menu the day we went. Very nice restaurant.

20/08/2024: Great spot, lovely skin on fries and burger. Fresh Hake was perfect. Big plus was that our dog was permitted in the outside tented area with us 😀
19/08/2024: The restaurant was open early for dinner, which we appreciated after a long day of hiking. We ordered pan fried hake and roast lamb. Both were served hot and promptly. The staff were pleasant and kind.

The crispy chicken in satay sauce is unbelievably beautiful
Hands down I can say I've now eaten in the nicest Chinese restaurant in Ireland
Go to the golden coast in castletownbere you will have no regrets.

22/10/2024: We ate a very good monkfish there. The atmosphere was very familiar, you could see from an hour away that we were the only tourists. Everything was very good and they were very nice
15/09/2024: Family night out , down in cork for tour de beara cycle . Food was amazing, I had the bacon and cabbage, memories of my mother. Our waitress was fantastic, we were fed and watered 10 out of 10 .. a definite return visit.

27/09/2024: Didn't even get in the door , we were dismissed right away with a staff member who was taking an order from a customer with " I don't have anything " at least let us close the door even the other customer was shocked by her dismissive comment, this woman needs some customer care lessons or training , needless to say we won't be back an I would advise people to stay away with that sort of careless downright rude attitude
24/07/2024: Waited 29 minutes to be seen..wasn't even busy..just gave up and went elsewhere. Donegal.town has lots of choice so I won't make that mistake again

04/11/2023: Very modern pub in Castletownbere, big back area for smoking, meeting and playing pool. Food options are great from nearby fish restaurant, worth a visit while travelling the Beara
17/09/2023: Lovely bar. We availed of the food from chefs table across the road. You can go there and order your food and they will deliver it to the bar to you. Fantastic idea.

16/03/2024: Damn good Guinness pour and a comfortable haunt for locals. Just existing in this space for 30 minutes was delightful.
