22/01/2026: Great local pub with exceptional food. Well worth a visit and there is a daily specials board, that actually changes regularly. Double smash burger is my go to, along with the short rib. Both exceptional.

28/12/2025: I was really looking forward to trying the steak tartare at BlackThorn as this dish is for me a true indicator of a restaurant’s quality. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Visually, it was promising: the meat was nicely chopped and well presented with onion and pickles. The problem appeared with the very first bite — the entire dish was completely dominated by horseradish. I couldn’t taste the meat, the onion, or any sense of balance at all. The horseradish overwhelmed everything else. Additionally, the texture of the meat was watery, giving the impression that it had been quickly defrosted and served immediately without proper preparation. When it comes to steak tartare, this is unfortunately disqualifying. It’s a real shame, because my expectations were high and the potential of the dish was completely wasted.
