Leens Bar & Restaurant

Caherconlish
08/06/2024: Pleasantly surprised as had no great expectations.Lovely staff. Brie starter in filo pastry was light and very delicious. Cod goujons were nicely battered and perfectly cooked. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

The Garden Rooms & Tea Rooms (Mc Lysaghts)

Limerick
31/01/2025: RIP OFF IRELAND IS ALIVE AND WELL IN ROSSLARE HARBOUR!!! My colleague and I visited the Garden Cafe yesterday. A young waitress approached our table with Breakfast Menus and enquired if we wanted Tea or Coffee, we ordered a Pot of Tea for Two. 2 Small Tea Pots duly arrived to the table delivered by our young waitress. The Manager then arrived and to take our food order. The place appeared clean, and the food was fresh and hot. No issues there. My tea soon ran out , and I asked the young lady for a Top Up. My colleague commented on the lack of Training, in that she did not enquire if he required a Top Up to his tea po, which he did. She duly delivered my Topped Up Tea Pot, and then my colleague asked if his teapot could also be Topped Up. His topped Up Tea Pot duly arrived and we concluded our meal. I approached the Till area and as the Manager approached the Till Area I complimented her on the tasty food we had enjoyed. She totted up the Bill and asked for €34.20. I felt that was incorrect so I challenged it with her. She then pointed out that Tea was charged as an Extra to the price of the Breakfast That meant that I was being charged €11.20 for essentially 4 Tea Bags and a pint of Hot Water!!! I felt that she would reduce this by 2 Teas , but no, she held her ground. At this point, my colleague proffered his Bank Card, and I assured him there was no need as I was in a position to pay the Bill. She asked if I wanted to include a Tip, which I did. I do hope the young waitress receives it. It is customery for years in most Cafe's in Ireland that Tea or Coffee be included in the overall price of the Breakfast, that you would only be charged extra of you ordered a Speciality Coffee like a Cappuccino for example. As we drove away from the Cafe, my friend and I discussed the actual cost for the Breakfast was €17.10 per person. It was the Tea at €11.20 that made the experience expensive and Overall poor value. I found the receipt in my wallet a while ago and I felt I should contact the Owner or Manager to discuss my experience. I outlined the simple facts of the occurrence and her reaction was defensive and rude talking over me as I spoke. It turned out that it was the Manager I dealt with yesterday at the Cash Register and she went on to say ' the sum involved would not break the Bank" She was in no way apologetic that I felt that I had been overcharged. She then asked what she could do "over the phone" . She could have apologized and offered to reimburse me the money, or offer Two teas Free at my next visit. However, she seriously Failed the Customer Service Attitude Test. I won't be troubling her with my business in the future. Before I finished todays telephone call, again I asked what she proposed to do about my Complaint. She made it clear to me that she was not interested in resolving the issue either today over the phone or yesterday at the Cash Register. Sadly, it is this subtle Price Gouging that gives Ireland a bad name as offering poor value for money. Fortunately within 5 minutes of the Garden Cafe there are many pleasant Cafe's where your patronage is valued and you walk away feeling that you got good value for your hard earned money!
