04/07/2026: Running down another local restaurant (ie: The Westward Ho) in the hopes of promoting your own establishment is an incredibly unprofessional thing to do.
I would never spend my money in a place that behaves like this.
You then got upset and deleted comments when called out on it.
For anyone who's wondering about this, have a look at The Unicorn's Facebook page where they unfavourably compare The Westward Ho to themselves in a really nasty way and then object when people try and comment on it.
Unfortunately it won't allow me to post the (bad, incorrectly spelt, AI) poster here, but it's available for all to see on their Facebook page.
I certainly hope that this boosts trade for The Westward Ho, though from what I have seen anytime I've been there, they're never short on business.

12/07/2026: Staff are a disgrace. Bad pints and worse service. My wife is actually related to the family. The staff including the female manager. Couldn't give to hoots for customer service. Staff laughing at myself and my wife, behind the managers back. Shocking behavior.

01/05/2026: Four of us arrived for lunch. Ordered our food. It took at least 30 minutes to arrive, it wasn’t busy at all. That’s ok. The food was decent. We ordered half rice / half chips with the curries.
We were charged charged us €5.45 per small bowl of chips. That’s an extra €16.35 for what should have been half and half. These bowls were also quite small - I’d call that saucy.
Then proceeded to charge us €1.20 per dash of miwadi.
I never left a negative review before now. This one fully deserved it.
I’d call this daylight robbery.
Won’t be back.

24/12/2025: Went here on Christmas Eve and although the place was extremely busy we were served promptly and the food was divine. Staff were amazing and performed so well under pressure. 100% spot on
06/12/2025: Great Value food. Chicken burger is the nicest I’ve ever had. Fantastic views all around. Great service and great pint of Guinness!

09/05/2026: Hello I just wanna say this supermacs is horrible. I was with my family and the food was horrible as well my mother ordered a happy meal and it only came with a burger no chips at all. I ordered a wrap and once I opened it, it was dry, horrible and bland, there was only chicken and when I asked for garlic sauce in the wrap nothing there was nothing, there was no lettuce as well it was horrible. And the service oh don't even talk about it, it was very very bad. there was only ONE worker giving out the food too!.And the bathrooms STINK it was horrible there was so much poop not flushed I don't recommend.

03/04/2026: What a horrible judgemental owner. I walked into this pub tonight looking a bit worse for wear due to the weather and my outdoor clothing but I was very polite and the owner spoke to me like I was the gum on his shoe. I clearly was not the clientele he desired in his pub. I asked him why he asked me to leave and he told me he did not need to give an answer and to not come back. He then proceeded to escort me to the door. I then went to Collin's bar where I was welcomed , had warm conversations and had such great craic without judgement.

18/05/2026: We booked the cocktail master class and finger food package for my friends hen this past weekend. We had the most fabulous time. A lovely location, easy to get too. The bar is cool and we were upstairs in a private area. The finger food was lovely and there was plenty to go around, the portions were big. The cocktail class was ran by Sabrina and she was brilliant! She explained everything so well amd was so attentive but also gave us the space to enjoy and make our own cocktails. Laura was also brilliant to deal with for booking the event. The bride was delighted 😍 highly recommend for a hen party!
04/04/2026: Was here with friends. Was watching a friend who drunk too much and a lady approached me and told me to take some food from their party as they were done. I took some of the many food left over as no one was eating. Then suddenly was told by other friends I would not be let back in as I “robbed” from said party who lady invited me to take some food from. As someone practically sober I was very confused and upset by such belittleing from staff. Really disappointed in night as me and friends gave a considerable amount of money- very concerned as to how they treat other customers. Enjoyed every other experience at this bar. Again this at the end of the day comes down to aggressive men in front of the door when no needs be. Not one bit of harm caused .

23/05/2026: One of the nicest dishes I’ve ever eaten!! I had the vegan sushi rolls and my husband had the chicken curry, both absolutely delicious ❤️❤️
12/05/2026: We went here last year and highly rated it. Now we will never come here again.
Very poor menu doesn’t inspire the palette. Also the specials leaflet today 27/8/24 said Hake yet outside the door said Salmon we noticed that as we left.
We ordered vegetable soup for starters which was too creamy and had a funny tang, my mother can make better.
Then because the menu was so bland I ordered fish and chips as did my mother and my uncle ordered the Wagyu West Cork burger which is a Japanese burger made in West Cork my research has led me to believe. What of Irish Beef being one of the best there is?
The owner told my uncle that they made it there. It was so thin and according to her the meat was so expensive because it was Japanese! Confused? I am for sure.
Fish cooked well no peas. No salad or vegetable offered.
Music was on and loud - not the case last year.
Again we spent a lot of money, still at least we know now and we’ve informed all.
I feel it’s trying to keep up and on trend when it’s not necessary.

The Oakroom Restaurant
17/08/2025: A fantastic place to eat, especially for breakfast or lunch. We've been coming here for the last 10 years every 6 months or so, on our trips to Kerry. The food is always so fresh and they update the menu regularly so always something different. The Buddha bowl and prawn tostada on our last trip was delicious. Good vegetarian options are always available. Price is relatively good and the service is always great. We'll be back again soon 👍

01/05/2025: I’m going to talk about the main attraction: Mancherò & shiitake agnolotti | smoked onion consommé | charred broccoli & shallot
This combination was noted by the host as “complex”. Oh boy oh boy it was FUN! So many flavours exploding on the tastebuds. This dish was surely a delight! Even when eating my cheese dessert, the main was all I could think about.
I’m just sad I can’t relive it over and over.
24/11/2024: Amazing cuisine. Extremely attentive to gluten allergy for family member. Will return soon.
Halibut cooked to
Perfection. Family members enjoyed venison. Crab and scallops starters also excellent.

Savoy Bar

09/07/2025: Brought a group of 60 people over from the US stayed 4 nights. Staff was very accommodating, breakfasts and bar food delicious. Hotel bar had reasonable prices. Would definitely stay there again.
28/06/2025: Honestly we have had the best stay!
The lady Sarah was so welcoming and couldn’t have been more accommodating!
We enjoyed every minute of the stay from the amazing rooms to the 5 star breakfast!
We cannot wait for our next visit!
