Pat Collins Bar
Adare
25/03/2026: Went here for tea with a group of friends in the evening, very polite staff, friendly atmosphere. Lovely comfy seating. Would definitely return again
16/03/2026: Server mad a mistake while taking my order and brought my food out, I asked for her to add cheese. The server seemed annoyed, onec she brought it out the 2nd time and the food was still worng. I asked her to redo it since it was still wrong, she seemed even more annoyed and said it would take 10 ish minutes because the are busy. Food came after 20 mins and finally it was right, but at this point everyone at my table had finished their meal. Worst of all once the bill was presented we noticed they were changing us for the food they messed up. We were also told we had the table until half 4 and the manager came over at half 3 interrupting our conversation and asking us if we were done since they wanted the table.
Absolutely horrible experience, ho to Chawke's 2 doors up they're way better. More hospitable and plesent.

Fieldings of Adare Restaurant

11/04/2026: Couldn’t fault it for a family break, kids had a great time. Dinner menu has something for everyone. The bar has multiple screens showing sports. Breakfast was super and the guy looking after us couldn’t have been more polite and helpful, when in other places asking for a coffee top-up can be met with a scowl. Pool and sauna area was great. Only downside was our room was a bit hot, possibly due to renovations, but the hotel fully looked after us which was fantastic service. There was even a wedding on the day we stayed and beyond the initial reception, you wouldn’t have even known. This place is properly run!
08/04/2026: Didnt stay the night but was there for a wedding. Service staff where fast and so polite. Could answer all questions about diet and allergens.
Room looked incredible food was great. Such an amazing location highly recommend

05/04/2026: Disappointing… scallops with curry dressing, chicken with wasabi mayonnaise … why ?? Steak was tough but chicken was cooked lovely. Overall nothing special
03/04/2026: Food was ok, building is nice, but their rules about cancellation and how much you have to order left a bad impression. Staff didn't feel very welcoming compared to any other restaurant we visited in Ireland.
On the day of our booking a member of our party wasn't feeling well so we considered cancelling, however the restaurant charges €50 per person if a reservation is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice so we went anyway as it would otherwise be a huge waste of money. The restaurant has a minimum order of one main course per person. With one person not feeling well and others not particularly hungry we considered sharing a couple of dishes and starters but staff re-confirmed that there was a minimum of one main per person or two starters per person.
We ultimately got 4 mains, a single side to share, and a couple of glasses of wine bringing the bill to €169. Bit overpriced considering the dishes were were mostly just the meat and not much veg and no side included, and definitely a lot for a meal we would have preferred not to attend had we been able to cancel. Note that €50 per person to cancel would have been significantly more than our actual bill, which I think demonstrates how unreasonable that is for a cancellation charge.
Overall we felt a little unwelcome (possibly due to us asking about minimum orders) and that staff were a bit pushy with trying to get us to buy bread, starters, sides, as if trying to get us to spend more money as opposed to just checking if we actually wanted something. The cancellation/minimum order rules bothered us. Bread cost €5.50 where most other restaurants we visited on our trip had included it for the table for free. The menu says "No cancellations or substitutions" and "We do not split bills" which makes it feel like despite their slightly higher than average prices they are strict and unwilling to make any effort to accommodate customers.
Positives: Nice building inside and out. As it was my birthday they did provide a little birthday scoop of ice cream with a candle. We also noticed that they kept our water topped up throughout the meal.

05/04/2026: Lovely hotel but poor service particularly in the bar area. There were 6 customers in the bar and 7 bar staff and yet I struggled to get the attention of any of the staff, poorly trained. The hotel and location is great and the breakfast is excellent with great service.
31/03/2026: Great staff hotel was spotlessly clean and food was top quality

Bill Chawke's Bar

03/04/2026: What a horrible judgemental owner. I walked into this pub tonight looking a bit worse for wear due to the weather and my outdoor clothing but I was very polite and the owner spoke to me like I was the gum on his shoe. I clearly was not the clientele he desired in his pub. I asked him why he asked me to leave and he told me he did not need to give an answer and to not come back. He then proceeded to escort me to the door. I then went to Collin's bar where I was welcomed , had warm conversations and had such great craic without judgement.
23/03/2026: Great service and helpful staff
