04/07/2025: Just rude! Manager and waiter both balked when we asked if we could get a knife to cut my daughter's birthday cake. Oh no, you can't have that in here! First and only time in over 20 years I've ever been in a restaurant where they treat you like you're some kind of peasant for wanting to have a birthday cake, yet the manager wears running shoes and they allow patrons bring their dogs in to sit with them while they eat. Found the manager and head waiter to be just rude. The other staff has glazed eyes that just said, I don't want to be here. It's a real shame cos the food was really good, but although I've been here a few times, after tonight I'll never go back. Went across the road to Brady's afterwards, where they were so helpful and brought us out a knife and napkins and displayed genuine interest in their customer service. Found Bistro 53 to be pretentious.

21/06/2025: The cafe is located in a side street, so it's quite quiet. We sat outside, which was nice. The wait staff made us wait a little longer, and we waited quite a long time for our drinks. The food was good, except for the poached eggs, which were a bit overdone. Otherwise, we liked it 👍🏻

21/06/2025: I got the veggie breakfast, the eggs had an egg shell sitting in top of it when I landed to the table. The spinach, onion and mushroom had a piece of bacon in it (this was meant to be a vegetarian). When complaint went to the waitress at the till she did not apologise or discount the food for me. My friend then spoke to the Manager as my complaint was not heard. Over all poor experience I would not recommend food here.

05/06/2025: Myself and my wife have been here many times, we don't go very often, because we always feel if we did it would spoil the outstanding dining experience we get. As well as a really nice date night and special the anniversary & birthdays etc.. However this evening we went with our children and we have yet to have a bad dish. Service always excellent, the food is excellent really is excellent. I have no issue paying for good quality dishes and it's certainly demonstrated here. The owners, chefs & staff should be extremely proud of what they do. Very very few restaurants in the surrounding areas who can be that consistent.

26/05/2025: This has to be the best evening restaurant in Drogheda. Top class menu, delicious food, everything we ordered was bursting with flavour and fresh. There’s a warm, cozy atmosphere and the staff are very friendly, professional and attentive. Highly recommended!!

20/06/2025: We were there for a late lunch and ordered a big meze platter with extra pita breads. The food was good both quality/portion but we’re extremely rushed to order also main courses. I believe the waiter came three times although we said we want to finish the platter before deciding on the main. He kept interrupting while we’re trying to talk to each other. Similar attitude with coffee/dessert and bill. Very disappointing.

19/06/2025: We have often been here but more recently it has gone up a notch with an enhanced interior and menu. The interior decor is very attractive with a lovely Portuguese theme. The food is first class with very fresh ingredients expertly prepared. We had pica pau and the clams for starters and for mains piri pira chicken with the house sauce and a wonderfully prepared fish dish. This is a truly continental restaurant with informality and character; and the emphasis on authenticity and taste. Therefore it is not a "fancy" restaurant with inflated prices and expectations. The waiter was very gracious and efficient. The price represented really good value. Looking forward to being back soon!

08/07/2025: Absolutely awful service at The Port House. My friend had booked a table for 10 people to celebrate her birthday and received a confirmation email. When we arrived, they claimed they couldn’t find the reservation — even after we showed them the email. They asked us to come back 15 minutes later, and when we returned, they seated us… but things got worse. The manager, Andrea, then asked my friend to follow her, and locked her in a sort of cleaning closet to tell her that the issue was her fault — claiming she hadn’t specified the date clearly in her message, when THEY were the ones who failed to confirm the date with her before sending the confirmation. Instead of offering an apology or any kind of compensation, she shifted the blame onto my friend, who felt deeply uncomfortable. Throughout the evening, Andrea remained rude, making what was supposed to be a special celebration feel awkward and disappointing. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The way they treat customers — especially on such important occasions — is unacceptable.

30/06/2025: Was as delicious as always, unfortunately we felt a bit over looked as younger customers as we were served second every time to the table beside us eventhogh we had booked in and had been seated first by a few minutes, one of my dishes were pretty cold by the time it got to our table but it's was amended when I had told one of the servers, when I'd had come back it was terrific
