The best restaurants in Monaghan

15/09/2026: Wish we had known before this place existed! Sept 2026 • Couples Myself and Jim went to Mollys our usual haunt over the last 3 years. We ordered our usual pint and glass of wine with a wee packet of crisps or nuts. We got the oneand only wine they had. Choice was not available! Crisps nuts or any little snack was also off the menu!! We made up our minds immediately that this place was no longer welcoming. We would usually include the upstairs restaurant as part of our evenings itinerary. So we did not feel that would be appropriate considering the attitude we experienced. We then had to research a new restaurant/ bar. We decided on the Old Coach Inn /Watters. We’ll talk about chalk and cheese! We were blown away!! We came into a more than welcoming atmosphere with a very professional staff and to top it all .....a lovely log fire crackling in the hearth Such a lovely friendly atmosphere with a staff in wonderful starched white uniforms. We were immediately made comfortable and ordered our usual wine and a pint. I had a choice between a wide range of options! We are going back tomorrow evening for a meal. 06/09/2026: We attended a family christening here and had such a wonderful evening. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavour with very generous portions, and the hand cut homemade chips were a real treat, something you don’t see very often anymore! The service was excellent, the staff were so friendly and attentive, with bar service right to the table. What really stood out were all the lovely little touches. They gave the new parents a personalised gift for their baby, played music for the cake cutting and the children, and even had a mini MC and flags flying for the mum and dad’s counties for a bit of fun! They really went above and beyond to make the day special. A wonderful, memorable evening and definitely 5 stars from us. We’ll be back!

13/09/2026: Great service, great food, great old fashioned booth,/ wooden pub with local characters, families and sports teams. The food portions were generous, filet steak and grilled chicken, and the veg and garlic sauté potatoes were all done to perfection. We topped off this fantastic meal with a well kept pint of Guinness. It was a perfect end to a short Irish holiday in Monaghan. We highly recommend this restaurant/ pub.

07/06/2026: Our recent Nicholl family gathering at the Creighton Hotel was a fantastic experience. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are of a very high standard, and the food was excellent throughout our stay. What really stood out was the staff, who couldn’t do enough for us. They were friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to make our family gathering a success. Thank you to everyone at the Creighton Hotel for your outstanding hospitality. We would highly recommend it and look forward to returning in the future.

26/06/2026: The nicest coffee shop in Monaghan! Erin and her lovely hard working team are so friendly, genuine and fun to call into. Delicious home made food, I highly recommend the chicken ceaser salad and the tray bakes are divine. Love the decor and relaxed atmosphere. A popular spot for good reason. Claudine

24/02/2026: Amazing! Coffee is delicious, the staff are sound and very dog friendly. Perfect spot to link up for a coconut flat white & breakfast. The owner is also great. Bless RDC 👊🏼

17/01/2026: All round TERRIBLE.. Rude owners, cheap coffee beans, frozen traybakes... Never coming back to this place... Charged me nearly 20 euro for a coffee and a small bun.. I asked a guy I think he was Barney why so expensive and he moaned and groaned and said 'go elsewhere if you don't like it's... Horrible owners won't be back

08/05/2026: Local produce on sale, nice coffee shop - stop there on route to Dun na nGall - reasonable prices and friendly staff -

02/06/2026: Stayed overnight and found everything to be 5 star especially the staff.Room was spotless and very comfortable. Food at dinner and breakfast was top notch. Service was excellent. Overall a very enjoyable experience at a very reasonable rate.

14/01/2026: This bed-and-breakfast in the centre of Clones was truly special. From the moment I arrived, I felt a warm, family-like atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. The food was wonderful. Ann and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the room was warm, cozy, and comforting. It meant more to me than just a place to stay — I’m very grateful and would highly recommend it.

28/08/2026: Our wedding cake and cupcakes were made by the Dinkins Bakery and Cafe in Carrickmacross, and we couldn’t have been happier! They kindly accommodated us despite the short notice, and everything was absolutely amazing. The cake was not only beautiful but delicious too! We received so many compliments from our guests. We highly recommend them for any special occasion! ❤️

28/08/2026: My family and i have been going here for years and i love the cake and we love the taste every time, but this time i asked for a cake and i wanted a yelllow icing on the outside and chocolate on the inside and i got chocolate all over with no yellow icing and i asked for the picture on the picture on my cake and i got a different one and its bad quality, i even offen for them to take a picture of the cake picture and colour i wanted and they didn’t.Over all i love this place but would love if they would do what i asked for.

22/06/2026: Absolutely best take away in county monaghan, your not just in there for food but also a great aul chat with the kindest service ive ever experienced, food is rarely late as its a very popular bistro/take away but definately worth the wait.

21/05/2026: Recently used nino's for a large group of 30ppl. Opted for a fry. Food was beautiful, delivered on time and kindly given the use of Bain Marie's to keep the food warm. Also got tray of fresh breads. Overall the services provided was excellent and would not hesitate to recommend or use Nino's as a catering option again. Very reasonably priced also.

03/05/2026: Great Cafe. I ordered an Americano along with the club sandwich and a choc chip cookie. The coffee was lovely and the food was very fresh and tasty. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. All round a great cafe with good fresh food.
