19/03/2025: The place is charming. The hospitality is warm and genuine. But the food!! Come just for the best pepper sauce you have ever had!! Everything we ate ( dinner and breakfast) was excellent! Everything is spotless.

05/11/2024: We call into The Cozy when heading for Dublin from Donegal, you simply won't beat it!!. It's home from home but better 😀 home cooked classics & delicious deserts as well as a lovely warm welcome each time from the girls 🫶🤙

02/03/2025: The website is disappointing as you are ashed for a booking when you arrive and there is no mention of booking on the website. I was told if I phone I can make a booking which is not on the website either. That said I was fitted in for a table and the service and food is top class. I would recommend it highly.

19/02/2025: Great Valentine’s Day meal me and my girlfriend had a meal on Valentine’s Day the food and service was great can’t complain

25/02/2025: Had a family dinner in the Sliabh beagh after a few recommendations about the quality of the food. Have to say we weren't disappointed. The chef needs to take a bow because every dish that was ordered was absolutely beautiful. Great quality food, amazing taste and very generous portions. The desserts were also out of this world. Will 100% be going back and recommending to people to go and visit.

16/02/2025: It's a great place. Lovely walks and people stop and chat. Lovely gentleman stopped and gave us a little bit of history of the surrounding area and the canal. Everyone we met were very friendly. We visited the lace museum which is situated at the entrance of the coffee shop. It was very interesting and informative. And we purchased a gift at gift shop. Would definitely recommend it. The food in the coffee was lovely. We ordered the fish goujon and the chicken fajitas and chips. The chips freshly cut and chunky just the way I like them. Very friendly staff. The coffees were very good. A cappuccino and a flat white. Coffee is my thing, I like strong coffee. Ground coffee is best. So the coffee shop gets 10/10 for their coffee.

12/12/2024: Lived it. Atmosphere was great. Food is delicious. And the the company was outstanding. Great place.

16/02/2025: Everything excellent. Restaurant was very clean and big portions of food! Service was a touch slow but we are American so we probably have different standards, Haha!! Food was reasonably priced and staff was very friendly. So happy we stopped there! We had the chicken Supreme and roast lamb.

09/01/2025: Absolutely love this place! The coffee is excellent and the staff are incredibly friendly, always greeting you with a smile! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for catching up with friends or for a quick lunch. Their cakes are all homemade, fresh and delicious — don’t leave without trying the homemade cakes! It’s clear that this coffee shop takes pride in everything they do. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

11/03/2025: Best steak in town, homemade Gin is absolutely incredible. Heavy on the pocket but well worth it. Old retro look of the establishment adds to its charm

18/01/2025: I dropped by this coffee shop after seeing good reviews online. It is indeed good. The coffee is delicious and the desserts are delicious. There are not many people on Friday afternoon, and there are empty tables in the store where you can sit down and enjoy it.

24/12/2024: Lovely stop for a quick lunch, the €10 special is great value for money. Service was really friendly & efficient. Very kid friendly as there’s a whole area for them to play

07/03/2025: Fancied a couple pints, but I had my dog with me. They allowed me to enter and go in to the beer garden, which was great because my dog isn't small 🙃. Everyone was great even Tommy loved it.

28/01/2025: My partner and I are regulars in Barbara's. We literally do not go to any other coffee shops in Monaghan. The coffee is ALWAYS fantastic. Honestly, I've never had a bad cup here. And, no difference between sit in or take away. Plus, I haven't even told you about the food options. Savory fillers like Sandwiches or Pancakes & Crispy Bacon. Sweet treats like Homemade Protein Balls, Scones, Traybakes (Caramel Squares, Brownies, Biscoff Treats etc.), Pancakes & Maple Syrup, and Cakes (different options regularly). Oh but don't think you won't be warmly greeted, welcomed in, and helped in the most friendly and inviting way. The staff are amazing. They also actively invite dog owners to visit the cafe with their dogs!! So, whether you're lucky enough to be a dog owner or you just love them to bits, this is your place. Finally, I'll also mention that the whole cafe, despite being small (seating for 16-20) is lovely and warm. Both in temperature and mood. The décor is soft and comfy, and features art from local artists available to buy. In all, this is the coffee shop in Monaghan that is always the first choice.
