The best restaurants in Monaghan

06/09/2025: The food was delicious and hot, so it was perfect. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful to our party. I would go there again.

17/08/2025: Good atmosphere, very spacious, lots of tables, all kinds of people come here, varied menu. Service, however, leaves much to be desired: I was sitting at the bar for almost 10 minutes and none of the bartenders cared to ask me what I wanted, serving instead other customers who arrived after me. I left unattended.

19/10/2025: Surprising find. Very good food, good portion size and excellent value. Good service and lovely view of the lake. Would very much recommend if in the area.

22/11/2025: We had an incredible experience dining here tonight. From the moment we walked in the staff were so attentive and kind, and as others have said the complimentary starter was delicious! We ordered the chicken chat and samosas as starters, but the show stoppers were definitely the main courses. We ordered the sag panir (spinach and cheese) as well as the chicken bhuni with Peshawari naan and pilau rice. WOW. So much flavour, good portion sizes, great value. Top recommendations would be the sag panir and peshawari naan! Will definitely be back!

11/11/2025: Excellent coffee and tea and really delicious scones. All of their food looks excellent, so next time we are in the area we will try lunch. There is also a nice array of what looks like homemade ice cream but I didn’t try one — next time for sure! Staff are lovely and very helpful. Highly recommended.

30/09/2025: Sourdough didn't taste fresh, near impossible to cut after toasting. Really strange texture of avocado, like gritty and tasteless. Must have hit a bad day as locals recommended and reviews are great.

28/08/2025: Came in to Adamsons the day after our wedding with a large group. Fantastic service all day, we were able to order pizzas, wings and chips whenever we needed throughout the day and settle all at the end. Everything was so delicious and speedy out of the kitchen. We had a some vegans in our party who had good options too. Great atmosphere in the bar by the end of the Sunday night too. Ross and all the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout

19/10/2025: We just dropped in for a quick drink and sat at the bar for one. The Guinness was good, service was quick and there was a nice atmosphere.

09/09/2025: Awesome is a gem in the heart of Carrickmacross, serving coffee from expert roaster (roasts coffee in house), delicious bakes and always a kids hot chocolate for the little ones. Staff are top class, in a town where there is no shortage of coffee shops, this one stands out.

08/07/2025: Probably a good spot after shopping, the terasse is convenient. You don't come for the surroundings. What put me off is the price of the coffee and for that it's going to be the first and last time. 4.10€ for a cappuccino and 4.70€ for a non dairy (yeah I'm lactose intolerant not a fancy dub) It's the price you'd pay in London. As far as I can see Monaghan is far from being London. Now if it's because of the rent, it's a shame. Anyway too expensive (4.5€ a piece of cake... )

14/09/2025: I attended a wedding where blasta street kitchen catered, wow the food was amazing, staff were so friendly, the owner Seány was so friendly and it was so nice to hear there story and there passion for there business. It was a fully vegetarian menu and as a non veggie I couldn’t get over how amazing the food was, so tasty and full of flavour, I honestly couldn’t recommend them enough 10 out of 10

14/09/2025: We hired Seany to do the catering for our wedding, after a previous caterer had let us down. On short notice, he agreed to cater for us, and had absolutely no issues with our different dietary requirements. He did us a full vegetarian menu, and managed to find a fantastic organic mince substitute that was divine. We also had two coeliacs, and a few picky eaters, but everyone was catered for incredibly. My father is not a fan of halloumi, but I can confirm Seany's food is so good, he actually asked for three portions of the halloumi tacos! All guests said the food was some of the best wedding food they'd had. We would highly recommend Blasta Street Kitchen.

19/10/2025: We only had coffee/tea and a scone. All very nice and friendly. Alle the salads in the vitrine looked so fresh but we sadly had to move on before trying and tasting them all. We will be back.

16/07/2025: A lovely little spot that my partner and I visited for breakfast. It was quiet and the staff were quick to serve us. The breakfast menu has a nice collection of breakfast stables with something for everyone. We each had a Pancake Stack. Mine with Berries, Compote, Greek Yogurt and Honey. My partner's with Bacon, Maple Syrup and Pecans. The Coffee was good and fresh. Would definitely recommend this spot and we will certainly be back again.

06/09/2025: Gorgeous coffee, delicious food & the nicest staff. Even gave me €1 from their tip jar to pay for my parking…superb hospitality. Kindness to my dog too.
