The best restaurants in Monaghan

12/01/2026: We called into Andy’s Gin Emporium in Monaghan for a quick pre-dinner drink — and within five minutes we were wishing we’d booked in for the evening . The place is stunning inside: gorgeous décor, brilliant artwork and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We were welcomed by Shannon, who couldn’t have been nicer. She knows her stuff and made us feel right at home . My Gordon’s gin and tonic was spot on — proper glass, loads of ice, lemon, and Schweppes tonic. Simple but perfect. Then Kevin, the owner, dropped over to say hello and that’s when the magic really kicked in. He took us through the unique range of award-winning gins they produce - And it doesn’t stop at gin — he also introduced us to their own fabulous whiskey liquor which added greatly to the experience. We had a great time and bought a fabulous gift pack on leaving —a bottle of their seasonal hubarb gin liquor and a bottle of their wild Berry Gin with matching inscribed glasses - whie we didn't dine the menu was extensive and the food looked superb. All in all Andys bar and Restaurant is full of charm, character and proper Irish hospitality — with a drinks and food offering to match - A brilliant stop, and one we’ll definitely be back to. 23/11/2025: Had burgers, deep fried Brie, chicken wings that tasted reheated for the 3rd time, brownie and Bailey’s cheesecake for Desert. The burgers had no veg, just bun and the burger, dry. Worst burgers we’ve eaten. Very underwhelming, in fact disappointing. In terms of the atmosphere, at first there was no music playing, you could hear everyone’s conversation and them eating their food. I asked the waitress for music and then apparently they turned it on but it was very quiet. So I asked the guy who looked like a manager if the music could be turned up louder on this side of the restaurant, he kinda responded in an annoyed tone and the waitress girl was scared to ask him again I told her I’ll ask him myself. Anyways, the food didn’t make up for it. Also the sauce on the brownie was cold, makes no sense. We didn’t get a menu for like 10-20 minutes. Won’t be back

13/11/2025: Pizza House in Clones is a reliably excellent spot for pizza — crisp-edged crusts, soft centres, and generous, fresh toppings across every style I’ve tried. Orders are consistently ready fast (about 10–15 minutes), making it perfect for a quick dinner or takeaway for friends. The staff are friendly and efficient, creating a warm, unpretentious atmosphere. The menu also covers kebabs, burgers and classic sides; prices are fair for the portions, and delivery hours suit evening plans. Pair a pickup with a short stroll around Clones town centre for a simple, satisfying local meal.

02/09/2025: Seriously overpriced for the quality of what you get out of there. Save yourself a bundle and shop literally anywhere else and for your own sake avoid the deli counter in here at all costs. €5.50 for roll with rock hard hash browns and rashers the woman behind the counter could barely break apart. Why, in any world, she would see/feel the absolute piss poor quality of their food and still have the gall to serve it to me is unexcusable and unacceptable.

11/02/2026: Typical Irish Chinese, i.e., nothing like a British Chinese restaurant. For instance, the spicy Peking sauce is just your average run-of-the-mill, sickly sweet & sour sauce which I found very annoying. If I'd have wanted sweet & sour, I'd have ordered sweet & sour.

24/01/2026: We have stopped down south for the night and delighted that we stopped here. The staff were very friendly and had lovely smiles on their face making us feel very welcome. The restaurant was extremely clean and the bathrooms smelled amazing! Our food was also delicious. Thank you!
