The best restaurants in Monaghan

13/12/2025: Very welcoming , clean and cozy! Food was tasty .

02/11/2025: I received an email the day before our arrival saying check in from 2 pm. When we arrived at 2.30 the place was shut. I had to ring and got a chef/cook to open the side door. When entering the hotel the man asked my name and said oh yea you are in room —- he showed us where it was and that was our check in 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ the hotel is about 20 km from the nearest town. When we went back that evening to have a drink in bar that’s when we were told what time breakfast was at 8.45-9.30. The staff were all lovely and very accommodating but I just didn’t expect the hotel to be as far out of the way from everything. The breakfast was lovely but didn’t get a choice was asked did we want full breakfast and that’s what we got. This hotel would suit walkers or bikers but not really a family holiday. We had booked in for two nights but only stayed one!

24/01/2026: Place has gone down hill big time. Food is not good. Definitely not worth the high price you pay for it. Presented very poorly. Less options done well would be more suited. All very young, untrained staff. 7 girls I counted standing at a desk chatting whist I had to get up multiple times to ask for various things. They still didn't attend our table! Our table was also filthy, Rice all over the carpet, used napkins and chicken wing bones lying on the chairs. It seems absolutely no management in place. Shame really, it was a brillant spot.

15/01/2026: The food here is so expensive for what it is. 27 euro for fish and chip before the new year. There wasn't even a side salad on the plate. Ordered an ice cream for dessert....all I got was 2 balls of ice cream in a bowl. No wafers or any decoration. 7euro. We had steak and I have never known steak to be ordered and on a table within 10 minutes or less. Views are great but the food definitely needs a revamp

01/09/2025: We visited Bistro couple months ago ,some dishes were fine some were kinda soggy. Salads,chips,milkshakes are great in there but holy moly these wings turned me off.They were saturated in oil ,they were soft,I honestly expected them to be crispy but I suppose that's just my preference,was not happy for them .Anyways bistro now offers an Inidan cuisine that is just off the top good,fresh meat,lovely spice,hot dishes ,fresh rice just class.We have ordered indian couple times in last month and definitely reordering

03/01/2026: Went in on off chance they would have a headlight bulb, they had a box of them all different sizes. The young lass persevered till she got the right one. And very pleasant too.

30/12/2025: Plenty of hot and cold deli options for a full lunch, friendly staff and lots of seating available. New expansion also in progress.

02/11/2025: Food was delicious, recommed the sea food chowder. Was quite cold in the dinning area, most of us kept our coats on.

28/09/2025: Hard to gain access and find but worth it.
