The best restaurants in Monaghan

06/08/2024: Live music in lounge, although I love loud normally ,this was roof lifting,which was an awful pity. We had to move into Bar area to hear ourselves talk!

14/09/2024: Eat here at least twice a week. Today asked for a 2nd coffee and latte. Told to go and order from till as too busy to take an order at the table despite us sitting having our lunch. 7 people in queue therefore decision made to go elsewhere for our 2nd drink. Unbelievable. Roberto maybe u could advise do you expect people already dining to rejoin a queue if they wish anything further?

21/10/2024: Food couldn’t of been faulted, but service was not up to standard as in my opinion as a group we where very polite and mannerly as always, while a waitress was sharp and condescending, this is the first time we have ate out as a group and not left a tip. We picked this place because of its good reviews from people we know, it didn’t meet our expectations.

01/09/2024: A pretty humble cafe from the exterior but clearly very popular with the locals. We were served by a lovely young Irish lad, very friendly and welcoming. Lovely full Irish breakfast and the best coffee so far I've had in Ireland, and prices are very reasonable. Thanks so much :)

29/09/2024: I speak with 12 years experience is hospitality industry, this is not 5 start experience. Catastrophic customer service, inexperienced served not knowing dishes on the menu being smalles issue, pointing finger at menu card, unsure of what is and isn't available, with zero compression how to great and engage guest. Owner chatting with mentuoned server by the bar, I heard all details of their conversation. Could have done without. Table not cleared promptly. Owner on the phone instead. There was 12 maybe 16 sits in the venue, not like it was busy, but we sat with empty plates in front if us for 10 minutes. Cutlery set on the wrong side. Zero ambiance, really awkward, tables not dressed, music too quiet. You want to charge 60£ per meal for two, slap a tealight on the table, that would really help to justify to starts. I was give tea with ONE sashet of sugar. ONE Owner flopping around in her flip-flops around. Lift your feet woman. Honestly. Don't get me wrong, your restaurant you do you, but damn thats was such a poor experience. Food not authentic, I can tell cheap tomato from vine tomatoes. Canned artichokes. Wasn't offered balsamic or olive oil on the table. Super stingy with cheese sprinkles. No warm welcome or goodbye. Half menu 86 (not available) How do you run out of fries? Questionable wine per glass, I had wine once or twice wine before I am confident I can te the difference, I was not served what I ordered, some awful cheap red liquid instead. If you are not local like me, do yourself a favor and visit a very descent pub not far from, Highwayman.

16/10/2024: Without any hesitation I purchase (and always highly recommend) my electrical appliances in Grahams of Monaghan. Once again with my recent purchases I received excellent service from a friendly, informative and approachable David. Having him on your team makes a massive difference.

20/10/2024: I like eating here. Good food! We went out on Saturday night last. Good crowd and atmosphere. Food Good as usual. The problem on this occasion was: One head woman was taken orders, serving food and drink, cleaning tablets, basically doing everything. There were a few other staff on the floor, but not helping or in our opinion, doing enough to help this floor manager! She was over worked! Looked stressful. We were waiting too long for coffee & desert. Who ever the owner/Manager is, needs to address this issue as this will do harm going forward. Get this sorted and you will be the best restaurant in Monaghan! P.S ( Work on your specialty Coffees. Irish/ french etc. I love my irish Coffees but I tend to head to Andy's for this. 03/07/2024: I don't think my vocabulary is big enough to describe how sad of a burger I had in Apple Green. I felt like it had still been cooking there since covid times. Better to eat nothing than the burger.

01/06/2024: Visited the subway but had a very weird experience. Subway is usually a simple process to get a sub. There were two ladies and I believe they weren't sure what they were doing. While I was ordering they were asking me to pay while I hadn't even finished my order. One of the staff started my order and another took over in between (so did not know what was being ordered). I'm pretty sure I was told things were part of a meal but they weren't and I was charged for them. The staff did not know what was included in the meal deal when I asked and I'm pretty sure there was a language barrier. Although they were nice ladies. It also was not busy at the time.

20/10/2024: Very disappointing visit today, mostly down to the young lady on the till 18.50 who could not have more rude, and absolutely no interest in serving customers. When i asked her a question, I got a roll of her the eyes, when the order arrived, it was without chips, and the burger was incorrect.

30/09/2024: Great authentic Italian restaurant! The food was wonderful and the service was fast and friendly. The owner was a lovely man who took well care of his guests.

29/09/2024: Just had dinner here and it was disgusting...watered down condiments...disgusting ignorant behavior from staff in front of customers...absolutely never coming back here again...I'm actually shocked...almost 60 euro spent in this place...never again 😡

19/11/2024: The Monte Carlo is a great spot for a tasty piece of fish, and equally tasty chips. The service is friendly and efficient, with prompt delivery.
