17/06/2025: Had lunch wit my mum and daughter. All our food was lovely the smoothie are always so refreshing. Best bacon in a BLT so crispy. My mum loved the twist on a festive sandwich and my daughters pulled park was perfectly done. Hat's off to the chefs

21/07/2025: A pleasant stop before visiting the castle grounds. The sandwiches and desserts are delicious and more than reasonably priced.

10/08/2025: Went in the tea rooms for some lunch after a walk around Birr Castle. It's really beautiful. The decor is stunning. The staff went above and beyond to please and were so attentive.
We had a lovely lunch and because it was all so good we stayed for cake...gorgeous!!
02/08/2025: Absolutely fantastic place to vist. Beautiful food, absolutely adorable the boutique and gift shop. Some fabulous gift ideas. Definitely worth a visit. Staff are very friendly and helpful. 100%recommend

29/07/2025: Gorgeous pub! Wonderful food! Friendly staff! We saw the great ratings on TripAdvisor and went out of our way to visit this establishment. So happy we did. I highly recommend Kelly’s. Most of us had the Cottage pie, it was amazing. One of my group had a burger, great too. Beer, cold. Service, very fast and so darn friendly. I say to all, go here, you will love it.

02/07/2025: First class accommodation in the heart of Birr. The hosts are so friendly and attentive to all your needs. Fantastic healthy-option breakfasts, freshly prepared. I had dinner here at the Tapas restaurant which is a bright, spacious and fun restaurant with fantastic food options! I’m definitely coming back to Townsend House 😁👍
23/05/2025: Had a truly lovely evening at Townsend House Tapas in Birr with my wife and daughter. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic night. The staff were outstanding—attentive, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they do.
The tapas selection was spot on, offering just the right variety without overwhelming the menu. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, with generous portion sizes that made sharing easy and enjoyable.
It’s clear that a lot of care goes into both the service and the food. A gem of a place that brings something unique to Birr. We’ll definitely be back.
Highly recommended.

05/04/2025: Food is decent, but recently in the last few weeks waiting times are very inconvenient, tonight has topped this though. don’t tell customers 15 minutes and have them waiting for 30+ minutes after making a call. Young girl behind the counter clearly distressed and when I asked to speak to management which I seen a few minutes prior, she went into the back and they wouldn’t come out and speak to me. Offered me to leave a phone number but that said enough. I’ll be spending my money elsewhere

05/07/2025: Ordered take away. Menu says "Includes boiled rice, fried rice or chips 50c extra" Was charged an extra €1 on the menu price. When I queried this the cashier said it was for the rice. I explained I got boiled rice. She did not seem to grasp the concept of Includes meaning it is INCLUDED in the price quoted and that that the 50c is if you have Fried Rice or Chips. I did not bother arguing over the €1. I will just vote with my feet and go elsewhere. This must be the only Chinese takeaway in Ireland that charges extra for boiled rice that is already Included in the price.
