05/11/2025: Use to love dining here. Unfortunately after 2 visits recently, we found it very disappointing on both occasions. Poor service, waited 40 minutes for 2 bowls of soup on one occasion and had to ask for them. Portions sizes we had for dinner on our other visit, were all poor. Unfortunately it wasn't what it was years ago.

08/09/2025: This is the cutest cafe we had lunch at during our 2 weeks long trip to Ireland. It is not easy to find since it is located above a pharmacy/fragnance shop and the sign is quite small, though. The venue is airy, bright, clean, cozy and nicely decorated.
We loved their sandwiches and they had a very rare desert, - "Pavlova", which was out of this world. Coffee was excellent as well. Highly recommend!

* Alpine Peaks: The jagged, snow-capped mountains of the Swiss Alps or the Canadian Rockies.
* Mirror Lakes: Perfect reflections in still water, like Lake Tekapo in New Zealand or Moraine Lake in Canada.

05/10/2025: A really nice spot for breakfast and the choice is massive. I went for a cheese, bacon, mushroom and onion omlet and it did not disappoint. It was so cheesey which made me very happy! Coffee is delicious too. Would recommend!!

07/01/2026: The place is okay. We paid €200 a night for 2 people, which is a lot, but understand, given there was a wedding and Country Arms Birr was fully booked, and it was NYE. Still, it was quite a shocking price—but then again, Ireland. It's expensive for what it is, but that's the nature of supply and demand, as they say.
We stayed in the front room, and the traffic noise was really bad. Worse than that, the heating in the room was off, and we couldn’t find anyone to help us, so there was no solution, and it was freezing. We woke up with the heat on in the morning.
It also has a breakfast with it, Irish fry up. It's okay.

27/10/2025: Very authentic decor, Food and atmosphere. Waiter was friendly and nice. Food excellent and different slant on other Indian Restaurants but really tasty. Thoroughly enjoyable night.

31/12/2025: Where do I begin, let’s start with the vile long skinny bettered sausage.. I could’ve used it as a weapon which was very tempting, I’m absolutely appalled with what the woman put in front of me, I’m absolutely sure my pet dog wouldn’t even bother with it, daylight robbery to add, the chips were like stones, revolting food and staff, doesn’t deserve it’s reputation. Not entitled to its custom. Health inspectors need to call in. I can’t get my head around how they’re getting any customers at all. If you’re looking for the easy way out come to Tony’s.
19/09/2025: We spent the time to download the app and ordered through it. This chippers had a wonderful reputation, but no longer.
We ordered two large fish meals, two portions of onion rings, and two strawberry milkshakes. The onion rings and the milkshakes were very tasty, but the two large fish meals were an absolute disgrace. The battered fish was dry, overcooked, and so hard that it was impossible to cut it with a knife and the chips were so dry and starchy, and had clearly been reheated to the point of being inedible. Also the service was less than desirable, the lady behind the counter has clearly no skill with dealing with the public and the app never actually let us know when the food was ready. Would not recommend to anyone, and for what we received due to the expense, an apology and a refund would be much appreciated.

05/07/2025: Ordered take away. Menu says "Includes boiled rice, fried rice or chips 50c extra" Was charged an extra €1 on the menu price. When I queried this the cashier said it was for the rice. I explained I got boiled rice. She did not seem to grasp the concept of Includes meaning it is INCLUDED in the price quoted and that that the 50c is if you have Fried Rice or Chips. I did not bother arguing over the €1. I will just vote with my feet and go elsewhere. This must be the only Chinese takeaway in Ireland that charges extra for boiled rice that is already Included in the price.
