30/03/2024: The staff are the best in the country. I had a small accident climbing a mountain and they could not have done more for me. Other hotels could take lessons.

30/03/2024: Update March 2024: The Lamplight has added breakfast/brunch on the weekends and weekdays over the summer. They are open a bit earlier than other places which is nice if you're more of an early riser. The food is also more upscale and updated. Breakfast is hard to find in town and this is a great addition to this awesome little spot From Jan 2022: Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had. We've eaten at the Lamplight once before in Fall 2021. That time, we had an amazing wine and ambiance experience and the food was good. Tonight (January 2022), was just exceptional. The wine selection was impeccable and the food superb. Our server, Ivan, was friendly and knowledgeable. Every bite of food tasted well planned and created with pride. We loved it so much we booked again for this weekend. If you are in Clifden, love amazing food and wine, this is the place to go. Great atmosphere and even better dining.

30/03/2024: If you haven’t been to this wonderful restaurant yet, get your glad rags on immediately! This is the best restaurant with top quality food and wonderful staff! The food was incredible and extremely reasonable for the best mouthwatering food I’ve had in a long time. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

11/12/2023: I did enjoy the vege squash curry, and the Al fresco dining room is a bit different and still nice in winter if you wrap up warm! However, €17 for a vegetable curry for lunch in this setting is just too much for this day and age which is a shame as I had planned to go back. A can of soda is also double the price at €3 so unfortunately €20 for 1 person for a lunch just isn't doable for most people as a regular thing.

02/11/2023: Killer food worth the journey and for the awesome dining room view. Had the roast chicken sambo on excellent bread. Bring a jacket.

02/04/2024: Aside from an issue with the AC in room (please check yours), the hotel was nice. They changed our room and we're apologetic about the heat the previous night. Pool is nice, small kiddie pool, sauna, steam room and very warm jacuzzi. The showers in pool weren't great as they are using aerated water (part of being sustainable) so the children found it bit sore on their back, it also felt like shampoo didn't rinse out well, but overall it was clean and well kept. The staff were the best part of the hotel so very helpful. The dinner menu in bia could do with a few vegetarian options added, breakfast was self service but you could order pancakes, omelette etc. There were a number of EV charging points behind the hotel and it's located near pharmacy,post offce and supervalu (grocery store). The traffic in Claregalway between 430-6pm was a nightmare. The traffic lights cause a few km tailback from Galway at that time. Nothing to do with the hotel but worth bearing in mind of visiting.

01/04/2024: I highly recommend the bog bean when staying in Roundstone the owner is lovely and the b&b is a real gem! We stayed for two nights over Easter. The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. The breakfast included delicious homemade sausage rolls and granola pots from the cafe downstairs and the owner was very accommodating of our dietary requirements. I hope to be back soon!

19/12/2023: The atmosphere is special here in An Chistin. All the tables are like separate places with their own interior, but all together everything is made in one stile - in interesting stile: you go from one corner to another, from one room to another and you can't stop wondering. There are a lot of historical photos of Carraroe, you can find people you know on them, even the words of the legendary song of Tomas Mac Eoin. So, it is not only a pub, but it is like a cultural place!

04/08/2023: This family know how to produce amazing food, from home grown veg and mutton , then influenced by global cuisine. All 6 dishes on the menu were outstanding . And the setting - well just go!
