21/07/2026: Really loved the Cream and fruit cake we got here. The cake had the perfect texture and flavor; the fruit was perfectly ripe with a good crisp texture. I honestly have had few cakes that compare.
Super happy we decided to get our wedding cake here.
I really recommend it!

But they did ask me to move to the lobby.

18/05/2026: The staff here make your stay very special . They are so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and the breakfasts have a large range. The smoked salmon, scrambled eggs & capers are delicious.

18/07/2026: We stayed at the claregalway hotel from 6th /10 July with our 2 grandchildren in a family room. First impression on arrival was 10/10. Rooms were, spacious, spotless and comfy beds. The food in the restaurant was absolutely beautiful with a great choice on the menu. We actually stayed on an extra night,,the good weather was a " bonus" . And now to the staff:--::as I didn't get all their names though, Lucy, Niamh and Alba on reception were, pleasant and helpful. Carlos in the restaurant was very efficient and a great personality. Daniel and Rion from the " kids club" were cheerful and always smiling, although I think they were glad to see Grace and Jake go home lol 🤣 they had their " heads fried" 🥺.I would definitely stay here again,and highly recommend it especially for families 🎊🥳🎉
07/06/2026: In general not a bad place just a few issues for starters no cash accepted at reception so there go legal tendor!!! Food,service & our Waiter Donal was excellent.. sink not working right in bathroom, a few cleaning issues!! Coweb etc..nite stay...kids playing on corridor at 11pm rang reception but nothing achieved as it started again at 11.30pm.. Breakfast ...again food good just cold plates..& waitress keep clearing table while people were still eating not good rule of hotel standards I thought?? 😒

13/08/2026: Halloumi sandwich was outstanding, and the reviews of the fish tacos from my friends were similar. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, but it gives a chance to sit back and enjoy the experience. Highly recommend.
10/08/2026: Very disappointing and frustrating. Arrived excited on the back of several positive reviews. Was there with my wife and 2 young children (1 & 4) and ordered 2 fish tacos, dumplings and a hotdog but had to wait close to 50 minutes for our food. About 15 minutes after we ordered a large group arrived. As we waited we saw this group being served. When we asked about our order we were told this group had pre-ordered. No apology. No offer of a drink for our kids. Just tough luck. We were amoung 8 others who put in orders before thus group arrived and had to wait close to an hour for our food. If we had been told before we ordered to expect a long delay or even received half-hearted apology, my review would have been different, but myself and others whose orders had been set aside for the preordered group all felt very poorly treated.
My food review may have been higher but we were so angry by the time our food arrived to the table that the quality and presentation was hard to appreciate.

Misunderstood Heron
16/07/2026: We visited the Misunderstood Heron and Campbell's twice, once for coffee and cake and once for lunch and some drinks (from Campbell's). Both visits were excellent. Delicious fresh food and located in an extremely beautiful and relaxed location. Well done Misunderstood Heron and Campbell's pub for creating such a lovely place to while away a few hours.
28/06/2026: The concept would certainly cause enthusiasm in a big city. Even the high prices would not bother. The restaurant doesn't want to fit in the area. We liked the food, even if it could have used a little more temperature here and there, but we would have expected something different in this section of Ireland with changeable climatic conditions. It would be helpful if you could see on the menu which food is hot or cold.

30/03/2024: Great coffee. Busy popular spot in Barna Village. The pancakes with yogurt and berries were great and copious serving. Friendly staff. Nice outdoor seating if weather good. Warm and cosy indoors when weather otherwise. Local staff and which is becoming the exception..keep up the good work
