Carpe Diem
Bray
28/07/2026: Best cool mom and pop Italian cafe.
Everything is fresh and homemade.
Lovely owners Rebecca and Tony.
We eat here all the time.
Their Lambrusco is particularly good in summer heat of ‘26.
Joint best coffee in Bray - Crêperie Chez Louis on the Main Street is the other.
25/07/2026: A peaceful place with exquisite Italian food. The staff is very friendly. Definitely a breath of fresh air, thanks to the authentic flavors and the bread with olive oil. Mamma mia! 😋

Vartry House
Roundwood
20/07/2026: A wonderful experience. A great find. I even brought my dog along without any problems.
The food is really very good and affordable compared to other pubs in the area.
We were treated to a short concert and some traditional Irish songs.
I highly recommend going. Dinner service is until 9 pm, and it remains a pub until 11 pm/midnight (on Saturday nights).
The Guinness is served perfectly.
11/07/2026: Amy was an amazing server! The patio was great place to sit and relax. Highly recommend!

Arboretum Kilquade
09/08/2026: Great garden centre, but very disappointing café
I recently visited Arboretum Garden Centre and, to be fair, the garden centre itself is very good. There’s a great selection of plants and flowers, everything is clearly well looked after and the quality is excellent, although I did find the prices on the expensive side.
The playground is also a big positive. It’s free for kids, very clean and well maintained, and a great addition to the garden centre.
Unfortunately, the café really let the overall experience down for me. The prices are extremely high for what is essentially a self-service setup with exposed pastries and a deli/hot food counter. At those prices, I would expect proper table service.
What particularly frustrated me was trying to order a sausage roll. I simply wanted a sausage roll on its own, but was told it had to come with either soup or salad for around €15. I didn't want soup or salad — just a sausage roll! It seems ridiculous that there isn't an option to purchase one on its own.
Overall, the garden centre and playground are very good, but the café setup, pricing and my experience with the staff really put me off. Unfortunately, I left feeling that the overall experience simply wasn't good value for money, and I won't be rushing back.
03/08/2026: Lovely, rustic gardens and gorgeous store. Plenty of plants with a good café as well.

The Brass Fox
Wicklow
04/08/2026: Food is delicious, boneless chicken wings are lovely. Dogs can’t go inside so you’ve to sit outside only with them. Always busy.
04/08/2026: The best fish and chips I have ever tried!

AROMA
Arklow
19/07/2026: Unfortunately, everything is closed on Sunday.
11/07/2026: Loved the atmosphere. I’ve been on 2 occasions, once for coffee and gluten free cake which was amazing, second for breakfast. The outdoors seating was delightful and the
staff are amazing. Very helpful. The only thing is that the gluten free bread is a little tasteless. As a coeliac living in Ireland however this seems to be the norm amongst restaurants offering gluten free bread.
I loved all else. Will return again and again. Thank you 🙏🏻

Coffin Shed
Rathdrum
05/05/2026: Waited at the counter to ask for a take away coffee, the first person I met said okay then continued on with her work and never came back, second person who asked if I was okay then said “I don’t have time for that, we’re too busy”. There were empty tables inside and plenty people behind the counter.
Poor reception to be greeted with for a visitor to the area.
29/04/2026: An absolute gem of spot, was recommended to us by a local and by God he was on the ball, staff were bubbly and up for the crsic, service was clean and prompt. Outside seating in gorgeous weather.
Workmans breakfast was spot on, perfect portion size and fabulous.
Definitely will return

Jack White's
23/07/2026: The three-course meal was fantastic. You can choose from the menu for each course, and all at really fair prices. The service is super friendly, very quick, and patient, even if you, as a tourist, don't quite understand the language right away.
For us, the best part of all was that for the first time in a week and a half in Ireland, we were allowed to eat in a restaurant with our dog!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
23/07/2026: The food here was very good and reasonably priced. You can put together your own three-course meal. All of this for €22, which I think is very good value for Irish standards. What was also very important to us was that it was the first restaurant where we could eat inside with our dog. Up until now, this had only been possible outside here in the south of Ireland. There were comfortable armchairs, air conditioning, and incredibly attentive and friendly staff. Since we're here for a few more days, we'll definitely go back.

Ardmore Bar
Bray
23/06/2026: Great staff, great atmosphere and very reasonably priced.
22/03/2026: The atmosphere was oreyt and enough Auld Boys around to take over the city. However, Guiness was one bubble short of a bath and the barman spent twice as long looking at my id as the border control officer when I arrived
