28/05/2026: Visited with my family for food and drinks only, not the hotel stay. The location and views are absolutely beautiful — on a sunny day it genuinely felt more like being somewhere in Spain than Ireland. The atmosphere and seaside setting are definitely the highlight of this place.
Unfortunately, the food and service did not match the location. The prices were quite high for the quality received — for example, the fish of the day with chips was €23 and quite disappointing. We also had to ask twice for additional drinks and the order was still ignored, which made the experience frustrating.
Overall, a lovely place for the views and atmosphere, but the food and service need improvement.

19/06/2026: Stayed over the Easter , Mac Fleedwood band playing sound was terrible seated tables but people standing in front blocking view . Spoke to Manager /owner who was extremely unhelpful and quite rude .. rooms were very dusty but breakfast was lovely 😊
29/04/2026: Called in with friends for lunch, the waitress in the restaurant was friendly and service was quick, food was very good, the only reason I didn't give a better rating was i found the receptionist rude.

04/07/2026: To start there was a loud disagreement going on behind the counter between a member of staff and management and after the staff member left it was still being discussed. We ordered 2 toasted special sandwiches and tea. When the food arrived we got three quarters of a sandwich each ....shrinkflation ? ? .

02/06/2026: Me and my friends came in for some food, as the last time i got food here it was pretty good, quality has definitely dropped. I got a spicebag and a curry sauce, the curry was very nice but the spicebag was very poor. The chicken was definitely diggers southern fried frozen chicken and the amount of chips in it. I pretty much just paid 8euros for a bag of chips. I felt very ill lastnight i was heavily sweating about 3 hours after eating it and i just didnt feel right the lads all said the food wasnt great either you know for the money you pay for food nowadays you’d be expecting it to be better than this. I hope they fix the way they are doing things out here!

O'Shea's Fish & Chips

28/07/2026: We stopped by O’Shea’s in Barry for an early lunch and had a great experience. There was no queue when we arrived, we received a warm welcome from the staff, and ordering was quick and easy. Less than five minutes later, our food was ready.
We ordered the large box meals and the portions certainly lived up to the name! Everything was freshly cooked and piping hot. The chips were crispy without being greasy, and my chicken and mushroom pie was delicious – creamy filling, a crisp pastry lid, and a perfectly cooked case.
The restaurant was clean, they accept card payments, and the overall service was excellent. We paid £38 for three large box meals (one of those being a large cod & chips), a bottle of Coke, two cans of drink, a pot of tartare sauce and a pot of curry. It’s probably a little more expensive than some local chip shops, but for a seafront location in Barry, we thought the prices were fair.
Overall, a very enjoyable lunch and we’ll definitely be back.
06/07/2026: What chips shop doesn't have mushy peas fish cake or sausage this one you would think a sea side chip shop would be able to to sell you this if asked disappointed
