10/01/2025: Ordered a kebab meal, meat was cold, chips were cold, curry dip was cold. Would never consume again.

10/01/2025: The business was closed for three days last month. Weak pest control, open pipes and rat droppings led to a Westmeath take away being served a closure order last month. Take Away Express on Northgate Street in Athlone was issued the order on December 13th under the FSAI Act 1998, which was lifted three days later on the 16th. It was one of six food businesses across the country that was served a closure order by The Food Safety Authority of Ireland last month. The FSAI served 133 enforcement orders on food businesses in 2024, an increase of 45% from the 92 orders issued in 2023.

25/05/2025: The worst service I have ever experienced in my life. Went in the guy with glasses mumbled something at me and I just said no problem and no hurry. Then after 10 mins he said what you want and when I started my order he was laughing at me and saying I was being awkward with my order because I did not want garlic . Then he only half did my order. Refused to make half my order and I do not know why . I asked for his name and no answer . I had to walk away without my food and this guy should be in a office on his own.

14/07/2025: We went for lunch on sat 12th July 2025. There was 4 of us. Two of us ordered the TOPSIDE BEEF. and the other 2 ordered the chicken and ham.. The chicken and ham when the chicken was lifted had a deli slice of ham..one thin piece.. The supposed to be topside beef was glorified beef slices again from a deli it was wafer thin. We use beef slices a lot so know what it's like..then on one of the chicken meal a piece of wood was found in the mouth of one of us. Brought it to the attention of waitress she tried to say it was from the stuffing a bit of herb ..no way was it. While we weren't charged for that meal it was so disappointing.as well as having to wait for nearly 30 mins. The plates were so hot they had to have come from the microwave.

03/05/2025: Lovely workers but I got one of the worst kebabs of my life in here. Ice Cold, I mean its like somebody took their leftovers out of the fridge from last night and gave them to me. All that I could taste in the kebab was lettuce... I cant fully even tell you what else was in there (It was a veg kebab, but jesus, I didnt order a freezing lettuce kebab).

Absolutely horrified this evening when browsing the menu to order takeaway for the family to see main courses had increased by up to 4 euro. 17.50 euro for a thai green curry dish. An outlandish increase. Wont be ordering from Kens again after being a customer for years.

01/04/2025: Got food delivered to us last night at our hotel as our hotel didn’t have a good variety. Needless to say worst experience I’ve had. The chicken in my spice bag tasted weird, like it had been re-freezed. My boyfriend ordered sweet and sour chicken and while he didn’t complain about the flavour at the time we both felt awful this morning. Some big toilet troubles really was just the cherry on top of this mediocre (if I’m being nice) takeaway.

28/05/2025: I recently ordered the burger deal from Apache Pizza Athlone after seeing the picture on their website, which clearly shows two burgers. Naturally, I assumed the deal included two burgers. However, I only received a single burger. Thinking it might have been a mistake, I ordered it again on a separate occasion, and once again, only one burger was delivered. I called to enquire and was told that the deal includes just one burger. This was quite frustrating, as the picture on the website is misleading and gives a very different impression. I would strongly suggest updating the image or providing a clearer description to avoid confusing customers. I was honestly unhappy with the experience and felt let down by the lack of clarity.
