Best spicebox in the ireland imo 👌🏻not too much focus on the chicken and chips and with nicely seasoned vegetables too, but would be great if they brought back indoor dining, after all, lockdown is long over. Please do this, Sohos. It would be lovely to sit in at your restaurant again 🙏🏻 🥲❤️

18/08/2025: "Nuts Corner..." It certainly lives up to its name with an unimaginative interior, a sparse selection of alcohol behind the bar, and the gents which resembles a barren wasteland. It was a horrible experience and I won’t be returning anytime soon."

22/10/2025: Went up to a lady just to ask for directions and the disrespect she gave me actually had me jaw dropped i was shocked I was being spoken to so rudely, no manners and had such a smart mouth she obviously didnt wanna speak with me and had no interest rolling her eyes

10/08/2025: We have ordered a paw patrol cake for our sons 2nd birthday online and it was amazing. It looked exactly like the reference picture and it tasted really nice. Since they closed the office in Tullamore we had to pick up the cake from their shop in Athlone. We got the smallest square cake and it was still huge and quite heavy. It was a chocolate sponge and chocolate cream cake. It wasnt too sweet or tasteless. I wish there is an option to add forest fruits, sour cherries or other fruits. It would elevate the cake so much. Will definitely going to order a cake there again.

10/01/2025: The business was closed for three days last month. Weak pest control, open pipes and rat droppings led to a Westmeath take away being served a closure order last month. Take Away Express on Northgate Street in Athlone was issued the order on December 13th under the FSAI Act 1998, which was lifted three days later on the 16th. It was one of six food businesses across the country that was served a closure order by The Food Safety Authority of Ireland last month. The FSAI served 133 enforcement orders on food businesses in 2024, an increase of 45% from the 92 orders issued in 2023.

10/01/2025: Ordered a kebab meal, meat was cold, chips were cold, curry dip was cold. Would never consume again.

13/04/2025: Ordered a chicken shish kebab, menu stated chicken breast, as is chicken shish anywhere else I've had it. Received some foul smelling minced thing, disgusting. Phoned and was told "this is our traditional shish".... straight to the bin.

27/10/2025: This is the third time I've got a takeaway from this place. Three times it's been bland and tasteless. I feel like I have been robbed. I could have cooked better myself. Never go there again.

11/08/2025: I Hope the management sees this, I order the duck very often. It is the most delicious in town but my friends can you please take more effort to remove the bones please

14/09/2025: Had pizza in westmeath before and none as good as this place! Im very fussy with pizza but Bethlehem pizza athlone is my favourite from now on, very impressed! Generous toppings, fresh and delicious!

15/06/2025: Got a few meals lastnight!!mixed kebab meal very little meat init was like pieces of chicken from a pack and no real tast from doner or chicken smallest kebab i ever got more sause than anything!!also got curry cheese chips warent great curry is not of good quality Only good thing was chicken burger and the plane chips are good Just think its over priced for the quality of food

04/10/2025: went in to get a nice sandwich, as we entered we were greeted okay but as we went on to order sandwiches the man serving us seemed like he was just trying to get rid of us as quick as he could , the subway was great now BUT there was a little piece of plastic in my roll also when asked for a little extra sauce on roll the man seemed to get agitated over that. wouldn’t recommend best of getting maccies 👍🏻

06/08/2025: Very dated menu and decor. The soup tasted powdered like it came from a packet. Coffee tasted stale.

14/07/2025: We went for lunch on sat 12th July 2025. There was 4 of us. Two of us ordered the TOPSIDE BEEF. and the other 2 ordered the chicken and ham.. The chicken and ham when the chicken was lifted had a deli slice of ham..one thin piece.. The supposed to be topside beef was glorified beef slices again from a deli it was wafer thin. We use beef slices a lot so know what it's like..then on one of the chicken meal a piece of wood was found in the mouth of one of us. Brought it to the attention of waitress she tried to say it was from the stuffing a bit of herb ..no way was it. While we weren't charged for that meal it was so disappointing.as well as having to wait for nearly 30 mins. The plates were so hot they had to have come from the microwave.

26/06/2025: Very good and fresh fish. They were very fast. The workers and the owner are very kind and friendly. If you wanna try an original fish and chips go there.

03/05/2025: Lovely workers but I got one of the worst kebabs of my life in here. Ice Cold, I mean its like somebody took their leftovers out of the fridge from last night and gave them to me. All that I could taste in the kebab was lettuce... I cant fully even tell you what else was in there (It was a veg kebab, but jesus, I didnt order a freezing lettuce kebab).

25/06/2025: A regular customer of Kens restaurant for takeaway. Absolutely horrified this evening when browsing the menu to order takeaway for the family to see main courses had increased by up to 4 euro. 17.50 euro for a thai green curry dish. An outlandish increase. Wont be ordering from Kens again after being a customer for years.

01/04/2025: Got food delivered to us last night at our hotel as our hotel didn’t have a good variety. Needless to say worst experience I’ve had. The chicken in my spice bag tasted weird, like it had been re-freezed. My boyfriend ordered sweet and sour chicken and while he didn’t complain about the flavour at the time we both felt awful this morning. Some big toilet troubles really was just the cherry on top of this mediocre (if I’m being nice) takeaway.

02/10/2025: Went in at 6.05 advertised as open until 6.30pm two staff members there and said no were closed I asked were they not open until 6.30 they said no… not impressed. Shutters open lights on.
