The best restaurants in Athlone

24/02/2026: Newer owners over the last six months or so. These guys are night and day compared to the lads that ran the place for the last two or three years. The pizzas are absolutely bangin! They make the dough freshly in front of you and are generous with the toppings. Always a tasty pizza! Fish is crispy, fresh and flaky too if you like fish.

21/10/2025: Called in this evening to make an order. I had a look at the menu on the counter and the big menu on the wall. I decided on Meal 1 - Any 8" Pizza + Any Side or Chips + Can which was advertised for €10. I was also going to order 2 dips at €1.50 each. Which would be a total of €13. The person behind the counter told me it would be €15. I queried as to the discrepancy in price and he told me that the deal only included chips and as I had requested wedges it would be a €2 supplement as wedges are expensive. (Sidenote, you can get a 1KG bag of wedges in Dunnes for €1.19) There is a full list of Sides on the menu which included, Garlic Bread, Onion Rings, Chips, Garlic Mushrooms,Potato Wedges, Swiss Cheese Wedges, Cheese Jalapenos, Jalapeno Balls and Chicken Nuggets. The advertised deal in store and on the printed menu state 8" pizza, any side or chips and a can for €10. I cant review the food as I was not going to be ripped off, I said I would get food elsewhere. The store either need to update their advertising or honour the printed deals. Also the price difference on the menu for sides between chips (€3.50) and wedges (€4.50) is only €1 so charging a €2 supplement is very outrgeous.

12/09/2025: Deadly fish and chips! Chips always fresh. I’ve never had the food delivered however. The tall man in the shop might behave badly sometimes. His treatment of people is not the best. But his burgers with bacon and cheese surely are!

08/01/2026: Today I ordered a caramel mocha from the manager. It was extremely burnt. Usually its meant to taste like a caramel hot chocolate. But all I tasted was bitter and burnt milk. Im not sure if they have set the coffee grinds wrong or if they just don't know what they're doing.

22/12/2025: Wasn't aware that this was a dog friendly cafe prior to visiting. Owner told us to bring the dog in. It was so nice that they asked us after seeing us outside. Staff and owner couldn't have been nicer, warm and so welcoming. Well laid out that our dog didn't bother anyone. Food and coffee was delicious. Will definitely visit again.

27/10/2025: This is the third time I've got a takeaway from this place. Three times it's been bland and tasteless. I feel like I have been robbed. I could have cooked better myself. Never go there again.

04/10/2025: went in to get a nice sandwich, as we entered we were greeted okay but as we went on to order sandwiches the man serving us seemed like he was just trying to get rid of us as quick as he could , the subway was great now BUT there was a little piece of plastic in my roll also when asked for a little extra sauce on roll the man seemed to get agitated over that. wouldn’t recommend best of getting maccies 👍🏻

27/02/2026: Dannys was really good, especially at 3am when delivering food to me! I would order here again and I'll leave a picture of the food here too!

10/02/2026: Absolutely horrendous they call it a kebab it was a bit of brea with a small bit of meat and a truckload of lettuce. There was more mayonnaise then anything and the price was insane. When we got the food and ate at the place it was already cold
