The best restaurants in Athlone

11/05/2026: Gorgeous, modern rooms & super central location. Convenient self check in (I found this process faster than the conventional in-person check in process!). Really cool foyer (great lighting for a group pic with the girls!). Comfy beds. Free parking available right outside the door - my friend was especially pleased to find EV charging points for her electric car.

24/02/2026: Newer owners over the last six months or so. These guys are night and day compared to the lads that ran the place for the last two or three years. The pizzas are absolutely bangin! They make the dough freshly in front of you and are generous with the toppings. Always a tasty pizza! Fish is crispy, fresh and flaky too if you like fish.

03/01/2026: Best Chinese food I have ever tried in Athlone and maybe in my life. The service is great, the waitresses are very friendly, it's open until late at night, has good music in the background. We had satisfactory amount of food and the price is excellent, it's worth every penny.

24/04/2026: The owner of the shop is hardworking and cooperative, but please be very careful when buying meat here ,always check it properly, including the smell. I bought a whole box of chicken legs, and even after washing them several times, there was a strange odor, especially near the bone. I spent €26 and felt very unhappy and frustrated with the purchase. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time,it’s actually the third time this has happened to me. I regret not trusting my instincts earlier.I won't buy meat from there again for sure. update: I complained and the owner refunded the whole amount without objection. I appreciate the great customer service in fixing the mistake.

25/02/2026: A pathetic attempt at a Spice Bag. There's zero veg, there's no chili flakes, most of the chips have no seasoning, and there's very little chicken. The chicken is a mixture of chicken balls and shredded chicken. It was very difficult to distinguish between the chips and the shredded chicken.

23/02/2026: Ordered the ribs and satay chicken. Food was super, really tasty and greats portions

06/05/2026: Food was cold and delivered late,the driver tells me my postcode is not good. I don't make the postcodes

03/05/2026: Worker lied about having mini fillets in 20-30 mins came back to be told no more chicken fillets for today how does a place that specifically sells chicken run out of chicken

01/01/2026: I had a horrible New Year's Eve experience at this place. There weren't enough staff, and 10 minutes before the countdown, there were no drinks for sale. The staff were doing the impossible to serve everyone. It was a disastrous environment. They want to save money on staff and simply advertise a terrible party with no management whatsoever. No cocktails, no álcool. Please don’t make people leave their houses if you not able to give a good experience

21/08/2025: To all the staff in Maisie’s, from the door staff to the bar staff to the glass collectors and cleaners, you made my entire hen weekend an absolute blast. From the Friday night dancing , Saturday day activities upstairs and into Saturday night dancing , you made us feel so welcome. As a hen party you tend to be watching yourselves and trying to separate as a lot of places don’t like seeing a bunch of women coming(I get it) however ye are different… we got waved at and welcomed from the second we got over that bridge! You guys are absolute amazing. Ye are number 1 in Athlone by a country mile and I’ll be recommending this place to everyone and their nana!!!! And also - whoever that Dj was that ye had Friday 15th and Saturday 16th - he’s an absolute superstar on the decks! I can’t wait to come back!! From the Galway Hen ❤️

13/09/2025: We stopped here while on a tour to Galway. What a fun atmosphere! A bachelorette party arrived while we were there. So much fun we almost missed our bus to Galway! Pat gave us a hello and great service. Highly recommend!

08/05/2026: Burgers are excellent atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food is lovely. Definitely a must have for newcomers and I'd come back again. The chips are very nicely seasoned too! Have a lovely day.

12/09/2025: Deadly fish and chips! Chips always fresh. I’ve never had the food delivered however. The tall man in the shop might behave badly sometimes. His treatment of people is not the best. But his burgers with bacon and cheese surely are!
