31/03/2026: Nice experience, peaceful atmosphere with good reception.
29/03/2026: Extremely disappointed with this hotel. I asked on check in if there was any issues with noise on our allocated rooms. I was told no that it shouldn't be a problem and that it was a nice quiet location and that it would only be people heading to the leisure centre. On the second night, however there was thumping noise in the room from about 9 pm. I called down to reception and was told by the night porter "what do you want me to do? There's a GAA thing on tonight and that he was just the night porter?" I informed him that i'd expect a less flippant response. He then informed me that he had been told to offer ear phones to anyone that complained. Very disappointing customer service.
Besides that the hotel is looking a bit tired, with better days seen. I would offer 0 stars if that was an option.

30/12/2025: This restaurant was great find for breakfast/ brunch. Great menu and nice to try something different than the fry we went in for. Had amazing ham hock and creamy mushroom with poached eggs which was amazing and the service was great. All staff so friendly and we had the pleasure of tasting some of the owners sons chocolates (Bon Chocolatiers). Amazing and I left after buying a selection. Will definitely be back.
17/11/2025: One of my favorite restaurants during vacation. It was just recently renovated, and has a wonderful view of the river. The food was incredible and the entire wait staff was very lovely and sociable. They gave us free samples of chocolate that the owners’ son made, which was great! May have to visit again in the future.
I ordered the Spanish fried egg with chorizo and potato hash, the shakshuka, and the bread and butter pudding.

18/03/2026: Their sushi is so good, I could eat their sushi every day and never get tired of it. That goes for most of their food. Staff are friendly and I like the sometimes quiet atmosphere, wish it was closer to home tho.. If you're ever thinking of getting food here, don't think just go do it because this place is 10/10🎀

26/11/2025: We had a wonderful evening at Fatted Calf. The ambiance was beautiful, and lovely background music played softly. The welcome was warm and inviting. The service was attentive, humorous, and never intrusive!
The food was divine! The combination of the appetizer with the black pudding croquettes, the scallops, and the various sauces was an explosion of flavor! Thank you! For the main course, the meat was tender and juicy with a delicious chimichurri sauce. Wonderful! The desserts were simply amazing!
Our restaurant visit was the highlight of our time here in Athlone!
24/08/2025: Robert is an exceptional waiter — truly a machine! His service was outstanding, and he treated us with great professionalism and kindness. Highly recommended!

06/02/2026: Very hit and miss.... food is nice but lazy week day staff let's it down , that big guy in the black jacket is a waste of space and very unprofessional.. took my order, didn't leave the order slip out and proceeded to wander round talking crap to other staff who apparently had nothing to do either, I was on a lunch break so the delay in getting 1 wrap really annoyed me . He is either related to the owner or there for free as I don't know how he gets away with it .

20/03/2026: Beautiful fish cakes served with side salad and sliced potatoes. The Dish complemented with a glass of Albarino crisp white wine. Busy, popular spot, definitely will be back
14/03/2026: Really enjoyed the fusion flavours at Left Bank Bistro in Athlone. The Thai chicken and duck dishes were excellent, and the pork belly starter was a standout. Definitely worth a visit.

27/02/2026: Had a snack box meal. Very nice but I cannot understand why when I ask for a drink without ice it still comes with ice. Usually i would go back to counter with it but was so tired after long work day i just drank it.

29/03/2026: Ordered bacon and cheese fries & boneless hot honey chicken wings. The bacon on the fries was mostly fat and extremely hard/chewy. The hot honey chicken wings came out with buffalo sauce. They were mostly okay.

17/03/2026: Really central hotel, closer to everything. On arrival parking was scarce.. which is a good sign. Check in was smooth and seamless. A lovely cead mile faillte. Had dinner in the Marina, food was really good, great selection and very tasty, drinks menu was very nice too, unfortunately the Bord failte customer service doesn’t extend to the bar, evidently it was a cultural difference, while friendly and helpful, there’s no craic if ya get me. The rooms clean and beds so so comfortable, felt like I was in a cloud… it was so lovely the view from the room was comical… but I’m not complianing… I wasn’t there to be looking out a window!! The team and coffe station was just randomly placed on the safe…so maybe the tray was stolen or damaged and needs to be replaced, did it effect my sleep… absolutely not, but these are the small things that make the difference.
Breakfast in the morning while lacking that cead mile failte we were asked out room number and that was it… we gave the room number and the reply was OK… and we were left to seat ourselves and navigate our way around, not the way I was trained by CERT 30 years ago… god I feel old…. again did that impact the stay no!! The breakfast was plentiful, fresh, great selection, everyone is catered for, did we leave happy and full.. YES. Receptionist on check out, seemed to be a well seasoned staff member, not the most pleasant. Who knows maybe she has loads going on at the moment, so we just heaped burning coals on her head and smiled.
All in all a fab hotel. Will we be back? absolutely. Keep up the good work. The whole updates on WhatsApp is very clever when you check in too Ivy the virtual assistant we love her!
12/03/2026: With detailing in and Email, and wanting to secure my reservation, I had hoped to use a voucher I recieved.
With between emails and getting ready to secure my days, I was informed that a day in between the days I had enquired had been fully booked, Disappointing, Not until the final email was I told that I had to secure my days by using my card details, if it were the case from the beginning it would of been fine.

It has been a complete waste of time trying to correspond via email to clarify the use of my voucher. (It's a private one that employees "myself Ex-employee" receive.)
