The best restaurants in Athlone

18/04/2026: The facilities were old, but the beds were comfortable. Also, the receptionist's attitude towards other white people was noticeably different from their attitude towards Asians. It felt like the place was small and there weren't many foreigners there.

16/04/2026: We recently had our son’s Christening in the restaurant in the Sheraton and we were absolutely blown away by the amazing service from the reservation team and the restaurant staff. The reservation team Rachel and Daniel were so quick to respond in emails and had everything organised for us- nothing was an issue! They were so efficient and arranged a lovely menu for our group which was so reasonable. The food we were served was absolutely delicious, everyone was so impressed! Joe, the restaurant manager was amazing- had a designated area for our large group and the table was decorated beautifully for our celebration. Kelly and Daniel were just fabulous servers and so attentive and really lovely to all the children too. It made our day even more special to have been looked after so well by these lovely people, we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful day. We can’t thank them enough and will definitely be back and book any future parties with them.

27/06/2026: Lovely food, dessert was especially nice; reasonable price for city centre and well decorated. Service was hit or miss, we personally found one of the staff to come across as unnecessarily sarcastic - requested ketchup and received a joking response of "no", then never brought it. We asked another member of staff who sorted us out quickly and was very pleasant. Overall, well sourced and varied ingredients but would not be in a rush back.

17/06/2026: Went there and sat down.. sign and location says food daily.. to be told they do not serve food during the week. Drove 16 kms to get here. Diaappointed.

08/06/2026: This Supermac’s branch is located inside a petrol station and operates as a takeaway only, with no dine-in seating available. The food is what you would expect from Supermac’s - consistent and of standard quality. One thing to be aware of is that parking can be a bit challenging at busy times, as the car park is quite limited in size. Overall, it’s a convenient option for a quick takeaway when you’re passing through. A positive experience, look forward to dining again soon!

05/05/2026: Another of a dying breed....a proper pub. Good staff, good pints and good atmosphere. We'd a good few on us when we arrived but once the barman realised we were ok no problem. Would've stayed longer but we were tired!

21/04/2026: Used to be great, now staff feel like they have no joy in their soul, when you order on the app for collection, you're waiting another 20 minutes once you arrive (kinda defeats the whole point of collection?) also recently when you order something that requires a fork (such as taco fries), they never include the fork in the bag. Food is great as usual but the service really lets it down. Also rang us 20 minutes after we left asking if we were on our way to collect, clearly no communication between the team.

02/07/2026: Spill the Beans has been my favourite place to go for a coffee for a long time now. Always the best coffee, service and atmosphere ☺️👍🏼 10/10 the sandwiches are lovely as well. The girls are all the time so positive , professional and careful to the details 😍

22/06/2026: Great little place for coffee. There was only one person serving, so the line moved kinda slow, but the wait was worth it! The latte was the best I’ve had.

26/06/2026: Had a great meal here. Steak was amazing with BBQ butter and Scallop starter. Decor could do with upgrading but doesn't take away from the great food.

02/06/2026: Terrible! The last shrimp was rotten, I almost threw up! The price was outrageously expensive, I can't understand why it got such a high rating! Was it ordered by someone else?!

03/08/2025: Brunch time on a Friday! Place was very busy, but the staff did a great job keeping everyone attended. I had the small breakfast with a very nice coffee and the brown bread is DELICIOUS.
