The best restaurants in Donegal

12/09/2025: There was a place across the street at the time that had way better food, service, atmosphere & decor. Dom's Pier 1! Hopefully it reopens! This place was decent, I found it less in comparison but still a good meal. Its flashy on the outside so I guess that attracts people. The meal at Doms had way better value for the money though & the man serving us seemed to actually care, which is rather hard to find in Irish restaurants!

04/12/2025: Stepped in for a bite with a vegan pall and wasn’t disappointed. Patatas bravas and wings nice. Lots more choice so will defo be returning

28/11/2025: Anytime I'm home from Spain I'll make an effort to go to the Blueberry 🫐 It's usually pretty busy but we always get a table maybe having to wait 5 minutes max. The service is super! Very friendly staff, very efficient and informative. The food is amazing, I'm assuming all home cooked including the desserts which are delicious. Very cozy atmosphere, you won't regret popping in.

26/10/2025: We had an absolutely fantastic lunch at Simple Simon in Donegal Town! I ordered the vegetarian rosti, and it was outstanding — perfectly crunchy on the outside with layers of creamy avocado, topped with fresh arugula and tangy pickled red cabbage. The sides of roasted beets, feta cubes, and pumpkin seeds added the perfect balance of flavor and texture. My husband went for the BLT, which was packed with flavor — beautifully toasted bread filled with crisp bacon, a perfectly cooked egg, and fresh salad greens. Everything tasted so fresh and thoughtfully prepared. They also have a great selection of coffees, which made the meal even better. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and beautifully presented dishes — can’t recommend this spot highly enough!

28/10/2025: Wow! This pub was so good that we stayed an extra day in Donegal to come back again. The first night was absolutely brilliant. Two different (and really good) live acts, really friendly people, and a brilliant atmosphere with lots of singing, dancing, cheers, etc. Because the second band was so good, we decided to stay another night and see them play on the Monday night. The man working that night was really lovely, helpful, friendly and informative about the area. I thought the first night couldn't be topped, but it definitely was. One person described it as the best night of her life. How the woman on the bar coped, I have no idea, but she did, and kept the drinks coming while genuinely smiling and working through it all. A phenomenal place. Must visit.

23/10/2025: The place is very well located. We really liked the overall decor internally. It was bright and sunny while we were there, so we really liked hanging out. We ordered burger, wrap, and a salad. The salad was really delicious and very very healthy. I want to highly recommend it to anyone visiting here (especially if you are vegetarian). The wrap was also good !! The burger was okayish - it was too sweet because of the relish. Maybe it’s a personal preference thing !! The staff were nice and friendly, however, another small feedback is regarding providing drinking water to the guests :) Not deducting any star for these small things 😅 Because we enjoyed being there. Thanks You - will visit again 🙌🙏

14/10/2025: Great little coffee shop. We came in just before closing and they still took our order. The hot chocolates were delicious and not too sweet. The lemon cake was very tasty as well. We spoke to 3 different staff and they were all very friendly.

09/12/2025: I’ve rated the food highly because I haven’t eaten there so can’t comment. Recently went on a Saturday night when I was back home from London because it had always been a respectable, lovely bar to go to. I wasn’t expecting how much it had changed in that it was extremely overcrowded, the crowd had changed from people having a nice Saturday night out and of course having fun to what seemed to be younger, drunker groups in bus loads from the north. Noticed several girls in the toilets in cubicles all together, I won’t comment on what I think was happening but it was evident they weren’t doing each others hair. The people that were there I’d say ‘before’ were trying to have a good time and the newish groups were more than intoxicated shouting, pushing and just generally making it less enjoyable to be there. I think it’s important to feedback because I didn’t see very much control over the crowd or this situation or the fact that there were far too many people in there. It’s a fine balance between keeping a reputation and getting business I understand however having spoken to people from several towns around since then who all said the same thing, fights have rows have increased there, there’s a new crowd and it’s not the go to place anymore for locals on the weekends and they recommended another local bar. My partner also experienced a racist slur from someone which I wanted to mention as part of the vibe I got from the crowd there but this isn’t the venues fault. I hope the feedback helps steer it back to the fun but safe & enjoyable venue it was before!

30/09/2025: Great hotel! Rooms were clean and seemed to have been updated recently. The breakfast was amazing and really well presented (see photos). Location was an easy 5 minute walk to restaurants and bars / center of town. Would stay here again.

02/07/2025: We had breakfast here. In addition to the super delicious and fresh baked goods, they also offered bagels and pancakes. The Americano and hot chocolate were great, but the pastries were truly delicious and fresh! It's a shame we're moving on today.

19/09/2025: I had such a great experience ! The burger was fresh and delicious, full of flavour, and the shawarma was juicy and so yummy. My son is usually very picky with food, but even he loved it .and that says a lot! The whole family enjoyed the meal. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend! The best think I like as mom ,the kitchen and the shop is very clean, normally I do t eat outside but I really love to eat or order from here 😁

15/07/2025: Hello. We’d like to share our disappointing experience at your café. We approached a staff member (not sure if they were a cashier or a waiter) to ask about the price of the tiramisu. Unfortunately, they didn’t know and just ran off saying “one moment” — we ended up waiting for about three minutes while they were gone. Eventually, they came back and told us it was €3 for a portion of tiramisu served in a plastic container, around 200 grams. Sadly, the dessert was very disappointing: it was hard in texture, had an overpowering smell of alcohol, and the taste was unpleasant — we couldn’t finish it and had to throw it away. Moreover, no one told us if we were allowed to sit anywhere, so we ended up eating on a worn-out bench in the shopping centre. We also had to ask for spoons separately. Overall, there was no proper service and the quality of the food was extremely poor.
