20/08/2025: Previous review a bit harsh , food was very nice , the brown bread was really lovely , the staff were welcoming and friendly , and when I might have made a wrong judgement I’ll always apologise, I also should have read the menu correctly , there is absolutely NO reason not to enjoy a lovely breakfast in a warm welcoming atmosphere, which we find is the norm from Mayo people , warm welcoming and DECENT , so for any hungry tourists or locals , pop in to Mc Hugh’s of Cong , they won’t disappoint

25/11/2025: A fantastic little find. The cafe is at the top of the main street in Cong. The food, prices and service was second to none. We had the breakfast and it set us up for the day.

18/02/2026: Great breakfast, great welcome, great service. The interior is starting to look a bit dated, but still very clean
17/02/2026: Pub seemed ok, nothing out of the ordinary. The parking however is a massive pain. We spent 25 minutes in the pub, to be whacked with a £57 fine. The parking is signposted but says in large writing 3hours free for guests of the pub, and in unclear smaller writing you need to check in, which we missed. None of the staff highlighted this and we ended up paying £57 for the experience. We will now avoid this pub and other business and go elsewhere.

10/11/2025: Love this place , lovely atmosphere, Thomas the Barman is a real gem he will always greet the customers with a big smile or his cheeky wink if his hands are full , he alone makes the place welcoming and Ann a bar lady here also you couldn’t hope for a nicer greeting from either one , NO COMPLAINTS , and the people of Cong and Mayo in general are DECENT welcoming people , so definitely give Danaghers a visit , my feeling is you shouldn’t regret it

29/08/2025: Came from Belfast looking forward to the quiet Man village got told about the food was really looking forward to have are dinner and was waiting in the bar area with all our kids for over two hours which we came with free families in total. There was kids everybody was hungry and looking forward to their meals. There was a foreign man behind the bar which told us food will be served at 5 o’clock which it was 3 o’clock then when 5 o’clock came, they would not serve us other people in which we seen when we was in the bar across the way getting food devastated and that happened? Do not recommend at all due to foreigners working in the bar given false information and was very rude!!!

Decepcionado con algunas cosas.
Sentí la zona exterior muy sucia, y teniendo en cuenta que es lo primero que la gente ve, los platos sucios, vasos vacíos dejados durante más de una hora en mesas desatendidas era tan poco atractivo.
Ciertamente no se debió a la falta de personal, ya que parecía haber suficiente cantidad de ellos trabajando.
Y mientras que el personal del bar atento y amable, el personal de camareros podría absolutamente hacer con algunos consejos sobre el servicio al cliente, todos parecían hartos, como si no quisieran estar allí y no un poco acogedor o atractivo.
No me alojaría de nuevo.
Una ubicación tan fabulosa y podría ser excelente lamentablemente sentía que había bajado colina de años anteriores.
En una nota adicional pagando solo en efectivo por las comidas grita Dudoso y los clientes deben ser informados antes de hacer el pedido.
15/07/2024: Pensé que podríamos cenar aquí... olvídalo. Bar muy ruidoso gracias a los varios televisores salpicados a todo volumen. Cuando le pregunté a la camarera si podíamos conseguir una mesa me dijeron que "no tenía ni idea, pregunte al personal del comedor". El 'comedor' consistía en muebles baratos parecidos a una cafetería de la escuela sin personal a la vista, así que esperamos y esperamos, pero nadie se acercó a nosotros. La clientela que estaba comiendo allí (descubrimos mientras esperábamos) consistía en una gran familia de la comunidad itinerante!! Hemos dado marcha atrás rápidamente y sin duda nunca volverá. ¡El lugar es lo que mi hija describió como "una inmersión"!
