11/07/2026: Everything was excellent! The food was delicious, and we were very happy with the service. A special thanks to Giuseppe, our waiter, whose Spanish was outstanding despite being Italian. It was wonderful to see someone so passionate about his job and genuinely committed to making our experience memorable. Thank you so much! We highly recommend this restaurant.
08/07/2026: Myself and my wife were there this last Saturday night around 7pm.
The place was nearly empty for food but we were still seated right beside the door opposite the bar ( about 8 feet away from the bar drinkers.)
I've never before been hungry having paid nearly €42 for a steak dinner.
This is the epitome of gouging on a national level.
It advertises as a restaurant.
It's overpriced bar food.
Scandalous.
I've decided to give the place some free advertising on X.
Its gaining traction as we speak..

20/08/2025: Previous review a bit harsh , food was very nice , the brown bread was really lovely , the staff were welcoming and friendly , and when I might have made a wrong judgement I’ll always apologise, I also should have read the menu correctly , there is absolutely NO reason not to enjoy a lovely breakfast in a warm welcoming atmosphere, which we find is the norm from Mayo people , warm welcoming and DECENT , so for any hungry tourists or locals , pop in to Mc Hugh’s of Cong , they won’t disappoint

11/04/2026: Hotel is lovely, staff were so friendly and helpful. Family room was so spacious. Room and ensuite was spotless and had everything anyone needed. Breakfast was lovely. Great parking at the back of hotel. We really enjoyed our time there.
26/02/2026: Staff friendly, apart from lady in bar, unwelcoming looked like she didn't want to be there. Everyone else was ok. Distinct smell of old grease as soon as you get to any of the doors, and inside the Hotel. Room is freezing cold, bathroom mold in shower tray, dirty shower head, mold along the top of the ceiling, and the glass shower door edges.
The ceiling in main room had quite a bit of water damage in 2 places, room 215. Cobwebs everywhere, carpet dated. No firedoor at all.
Smell of grease in room too.
Had to ask to be moved, which they did. And they gave us a portable heater.
Room 218, only slightly better, but again freezing, so welcomed to have the heater, no firedoor. Could see the hall light under the gap of door at night time. Smoke detector had a plaster on it, remote for TV didn't work properly at all.
Restaurant, seats actually stuck to the floor, looked like the cold breakfast items were left out over night.
Had some food in bar first night and ended up with food poisoning. Wouldn't eat in there again.

23/03/2026: Danagher’s in Cong is a lovely little place. Very nice rooms, very clean, very friendly staff. The bar downstairs seemed to be a local haunt. Very cozy and a great Irish coffee. It is right across the street from Pat Cohan’s and the cross for any Quiet Man fans.
10/11/2025: Love this place , lovely atmosphere, Thomas the Barman is a real gem he will always greet the customers with a big smile or his cheeky wink if his hands are full , he alone makes the place welcoming and Ann a bar lady here also you couldn’t hope for a nicer greeting from either one , NO COMPLAINTS , and the people of Cong and Mayo in general are DECENT welcoming people , so definitely give Danaghers a visit , my feeling is you shouldn’t regret it

Decepcionado con algunas cosas.
SentĂ la zona exterior muy sucia, y teniendo en cuenta que es lo primero que la gente ve, los platos sucios, vasos vacĂos dejados durante más de una hora en mesas desatendidas era tan poco atractivo.
Ciertamente no se debiĂł a la falta de personal, ya que parecĂa haber suficiente cantidad de ellos trabajando.
Y mientras que el personal del bar atento y amable, el personal de camareros podrĂa absolutamente hacer con algunos consejos sobre el servicio al cliente, todos parecĂan hartos, como si no quisieran estar allĂ y no un poco acogedor o atractivo.
No me alojarĂa de nuevo.
Una ubicaciĂłn tan fabulosa y podrĂa ser excelente lamentablemente sentĂa que habĂa bajado colina de años anteriores.
En una nota adicional pagando solo en efectivo por las comidas grita Dudoso y los clientes deben ser informados antes de hacer el pedido.
15/07/2024: PensĂ© que podrĂamos cenar aquĂ... olvĂdalo. Bar muy ruidoso gracias a los varios televisores salpicados a todo volumen. Cuando le preguntĂ© a la camarera si podĂamos conseguir una mesa me dijeron que "no tenĂa ni idea, pregunte al personal del comedor". El 'comedor' consistĂa en muebles baratos parecidos a una cafeterĂa de la escuela sin personal a la vista, asĂ que esperamos y esperamos, pero nadie se acercĂł a nosotros. La clientela que estaba comiendo allĂ (descubrimos mientras esperábamos) consistĂa en una gran familia de la comunidad itinerante!! Hemos dado marcha atrás rápidamente y sin duda nunca volverá. ¡El lugar es lo que mi hija describiĂł como "una inmersiĂłn"!
