14/09/2026: Very disappointing experience in the Oak Room restaurant in Cavan town recently. No consideration for a person with intellectual disability. Shame on the Oak Room Restaurant in Cavan town. Our family were celebrating our brother’s 50th birthday there. We were a party of 12 including my sister with intellectual disability. The Oak Room have a policy, very understandably, about customers bringing celebratory cakes into the restaurant. Simply put, if people eat cake they are unlikely to have dessert, so you can’t eat cake in the restaurant. Very understandable. However my sister with intellectual disability does not understand policies and did not understand why she couldn’t have cake and she really likes cake. I spoke to the manager of the Oak Room on the night and explained the problem we were having and that my sister was upset. I also said that it was just one person in our group of 12 and at least half of us were considering dessert. I was met with not just a ‘No’ but with a stony cold ‘No’, no understanding, no exceptions under any circumstances! Meanwhile at the table, my brother took a big spoon, dug into the cake and planted some cake on my sister’s plate! Happy sister. Getting nowhere with the manager, I returned to the table. Nobody ordered dessert and we asked for the bill. Outcome for the restaurant: 11 very disappointed customers; no desserts ordered; a bad review that will be retold over and over again. Shame on you Oak Room Restaurant in Cavan.

13/09/2026: I just got married and my husband and I held our reception here. Laura was very helpful and accommodating to our asks and made sure we were happy each step of the way. Maria was also super, she made sure on the day that everyone got what they wanted or needed. The food was out of this world. The head chef, Shane, is very talented and his team is amazing. Thank you all for a wonderful evening!

01/09/2026: Popped in for a quick lunch with the kids. Good variety on the menu. Really good helpful service. The food was of a very high standard. Will be back.

29/06/2026: I had a wonderful meal last evening. The staff were excellent — friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming. The food was absolutely top‑class, full of flavour and great portions. Prices were very reasonable for the quality you get. A brilliant experience from start to finish. Staff, food, and price all 💯.

14/06/2026: Came back to this great eating pub after 6 years, really friendly welcome,had onion rings for starters and huge sirloin steaks cooked rare for main, the onion rings were really freshly cooked,hot and crispy and the steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted great,one of the best steaks I have had in a long time, all the staff are helpful and friendly and I can't recommend this place enough,it does get busy at peak evening times but they turn the tables round really quickly, not the cheapest meal but so worth it.

18/05/2026: The service was great. The location of the hotel was great. It wasn't far from were me and my family had to go to. We were their to watch the ulster final.

05/07/2026: Sweet Jesus I’m no Karen to begin with but lord above the service was as disgraceful as the the food and I’m not exaggerating, very disappointed, what I was looking forward to was a chicken supreme what I got was a deep fat fryer version of chicken served with a stick of potato??????? A drizzle of.mushroom sauce with absolutely no accompanying veg????? Utterly passionless food and to wait 40mins to get served is just not what you would expect for a premium priced menu… my daughter’s soup was obviously a powdered soup not original and certainly not made from scratch 😡 the gravy you would imagine would have been derived from the juices of any fresh meats cooked fresh but again it was obviously granulated gravy. Well that is that really… utterly disappointing.
