Willie Pa’s 2019
Bantry
19/09/2024: Fantastic. It was very quiet on a Thursday eve about 8 ish ?? But other than that just marvellous. Had Brie for starters and fish pie and chicken curry for mains. Everything beautifully cooked and presented and loads of it. We’ve been in the area for a week and nothing has come close to this. Sad we only discovered it on second last night
24/07/2024: An impromptu midweek dinner went down an absolute treat.
A good steak is hard and I'd die on that hill. Balancing the resting time with the wellness without it going cold or cooking further is a magical art and was certainly nailed here with a fillet steak coming out on a bed of soft mushrooms and onion.
My wife has a lovely of a pub roast and was gutted to leave some behind such was the size and quality of the slices of meat.
The sides were many and piled high.
Next time we'll hopefully manage a dessert!

23/04/2024: This is a lovely hotel we stayed last Saturday night it was extremely busy 3 functions going on which we didn't mind. But they did not give us the hotel room which I booked but rather put us in a log cabin on arrival we were informed we got a upgrade which to honest wasn't in our opinion the bed was a very small double and typical of Ireland badly finished no point having sink tables chairs and kettle if u have no fridge or microwave. This was OK for us wecwere only staying overnight but we booked a table for 2 on arrival for 7.30 but it wasn't kept so we ended up eating very late near to 9 o clock. It was a lovely meal in fairness but overall we felt a bit cheated surely they should ring u if they don't have the room u booked and then when leaving I got told the bill was 222 euros great I said but it wasn't there was 254 euros taken from account they added on tax of 23% and 13.5% should have been said. As a result I would nt come back shame.

16/06/2024: Our experience exceeded expectations. We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate a wedding anniversary while on holiday. The staff was very accommodating and the food was exceptionally good and not overpriced.

Dursey Deli
09/09/2024: Amazing. Fresh fried monkfish, straight from Castletownbere Harbour that morning. A family-run fish and chip van with the best fish and chips I've ever had. So good we went back the next day for more!
09/09/2024: We ordered Haddock and chips and were so surprised with what we received. The chips were cooked perfectly lovely and crispy and the haddock had a light batter, and was so succulent and flakey, probably one of the tastiest pieces of fish I’ve had in years. Would highly recommend.

The Lough Avoul Inn
22/09/2024: It should be called Faulty towers. The service is shocking and the woman behind the bar is extremely rude. It is very expensive but I would get over that if the service was not so terrible
12/09/2024: We went for a meal to "The Lough Avoul Inn" in Glengarriff, and after entering this place we were directed down some steps on the right into a room next to the pub we actually entered. We found out later that this was Jack's restaurant (same owners, adjacent places). The owners are very unpleasant people to deal with, they give you the feeling that they would rather be rid of you than serve you. The waiter was a very friendly Indian guy, but seemed intimidated by the woman owner. We both had a bland tasting meal, and the wine was served out of a mini bottle, which for a restaurant is not done. When we wanted to pay, the owner calculated the prices on a handwritten note (no till receipt or something similar, see photo) and wanted us to pay with cash, which we refused, simply because we did not carry any cash. I asked my husband to take the receipt with him, and pay no tip cause we certainly did not feel welcome and the food was very below standards. When we checked the receipt later it turned out that the owner had overpriced everything from what it said on the menu, (Monkfish on the menu was 25 euro, he wrote down 25,50, etcetera) and also must have failed in math at school as his total was 5 euro over what it should have been, had he calculated the total correctly. So not only he charged us higher prices than was on the menu, but also ripped us off with the end result. We do NOT recommend this place. Deceitful. The owners should be charged with fraudulent practice.

Diegos Wine Bar & Charcoal House
Castletownbere
27/09/2024: Didn't even get in the door , we were dismissed right away with a staff member who was taking an order from a customer with " I don't have anything " at least let us close the door even the other customer was shocked by her dismissive comment, this woman needs some customer care lessons or training , needless to say we won't be back an I would advise people to stay away with that sort of careless downright rude attitude
24/07/2024: Waited 29 minutes to be seen..wasn't even busy..just gave up and went elsewhere. Donegal.town has lots of choice so I won't make that mistake again
