20/07/2024: We stopped on a Saturday at 2 p.m. by chance because this restaurant was on our vacation route! Excellent food, perfect salmon, beef, sauces, fries, mash and vegetables!!!! The portions are very generous and the service very fast! Only one regret: we didn't have dessert even though they looked excellent 😅😍very nice place and even the toilets are clean and pleasant!! Finally the addition is very reasonable! I highly recommend! Congratulations to the whole team !

Church Restaurant

Skibbereen
29/06/2024: Beautiful restaurant with delicious food made and served to a very high standard in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. My family and I visit here often as I consider it the best restaurant in West Cork by far. The food is consistently well prepared and delicious. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and always do their best to meet you needs. The lay out is very unique and beautiful and it's always a pleasure to dine there.
27/06/2024: The food is very good. The ambience is good and with a nice story. Reservation is recommended.

de Barra

Clonakilty
02/07/2024: The best pub in Ireland in my opinion
26/06/2024: What a great pub absolutely steeped in history!! First pint wasn’t the best but I’m nearly sure it was the first poured of the day. Once the bar man saw, he came out and took it back to refill. Great pints, great stories, great atmosphere.

Glandore Inn

Glandore
01/07/2024: Not family friendly, loads of two seater tables, and when asked if they had a table for 4 (2 adults a 6 and a 4 year old) was asked inside or out, I said I didn't mind, only to be told inside was full and find your own table outside, about 6 2 seater tables available, just walked away.
24/06/2024: A tourist trap bar. Rip off prices and I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Chestnut

Ballydehob
21/05/2024: Exquisitely created dishes from starter to dessert - kudos to the chefs. Wine pair boosted the overall dining experience, along with delicated service team who ensured we are all good at couple of seconds. Very heart warming restaurant!
06/05/2024: Honestly, we left a little disappointed. Had the 4 course tasting menu during the jazz weekend - booked well in advance - €70 pp. Some of the food was very delicious - the raw langoustine cracker was a real flavour punch and deliciously fresh with lime zing! The cooked langoustine was delicious - you could really taste the yakatori grill. However, some items just did not sing the way I expected - the kale side with the duck course just tasted flat, maybe lacking seasoning. We found it very odd that across three courses, we had to share two items across three people - the butter with the bread, the kale with the duck and the rhubarb with the dessert. We actually thought that they forgot to bring the kale side for one of our group and were surprised to hear we had to share! Awkward. The duck was perfectly pleasant but for me, it was not memorable unfortunately. The dessert - described as Rhubarb, Milk, Honey - was disappointing. The rhubarb (which we had to share) was tough/not stewed and the choice to present it in olive oil was not to our taste. The soft element of the dish was not pleasant - almost butyric acid type flavor. A real absence of sweetness across the dish, the honey was not enough to make it feel like a dessert. The rhubarb ice tea was in such a small volume I actually thought they were going to come back to top it up - must have been less than 100ml/half a small glass. On the bright side, the front of house staff were really lovely - perfect level of professionalism with a lovely touch! Ballydehob is a lovely village and the way the restaurant has retained some elements of the pub it used to be, whilst bringing in modern touches, is great. Overall - we left feeling as though the quality of the food was lesser because we had selected the 4-course tasting menu, and expectations were unfortunately not met. Michelin is a high bar and I'm sure can feel like very restrictive at times - but with that star come high expectations!

Man Friday

Kinsale
16/07/2024: Great food, great staff. They were very friendly and accommodating when we called in without a booking.
14/07/2024: Beautiful restaurant in an idyllic setting, a quiet neighborhood on a little peninsula just over the port from Kinsale (<10 minute walk). The decor is really lovely and the space is full of art and plants and light. The food we ordered was delicious - I'm a vegetarian, and the risotto was great, while my mother had excellent seafood. We were too full for dessert but there were lots of options! I recommend booking in advance if you can.
