01/10/2026: Had lunch here, great setting with the sun shining and the seating area overlooking the sea. Food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and entertaining. Big shout out to Finbarr who went above and beyond great service when he found items I had left behind and dropped them at a shop that I would be passing by for me to collect.

24/10/2026: Very disappointed! Ordered four meals. When I cut into the burger it was raw and cold in the centre. Server took away. No offer to change choice, as another in my company had also ordered same, everyone was put off their food. As all others were nearly finished he returned with another burger. As we were all hungry, I ate what I could of it. Tasteless, flavourless and way too thick with poor presentation. A small side of regular Ketchup and skin on processed fries, not the thick home cooked chips as stated on the menu. Terrible presentation and poor food quality or flavour. Not to be recommended.

11/10/2026: We went to a sugan after visiting the miniature village, and it was a great experience! The place was very clean, and Dennis, who looked after us, was friendly and kind. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. We’re so glad we decided to stop by!

15/08/2026: Nice food, but I found it a bit expensive and the portion size wasn’t exactly huge. 5euro for a pint of water is like something you’d see in Italy or France. Friendly staff.

11/08/2026: I visited early August with my husband, our toddler and my mother-in-law, and I’m so glad we decided to give it another try after not having been in years. I ordered the roast special of the day, which was lamb shank, and it was a huge portion! I struggled to finish it, but it was absolutely delicious. The gravy in particular was divine, and I always think you can tell a lot about a restaurant by its gravy 😂. This one definitely passed my test! The others had fish and chips, which I of course had to sample too, and they were very tasty. The service was quick and friendly, and I really liked the atmosphere. It’s a lovely, smaller restaurant, and the noise levels were low enough that we could comfortably enjoy a conversation while eating, which is always a bonus when dining with family. Overall, we were really happy with our meal and the experience. I’d absolutely recommend Bayleaf Bistro and would happily return.

11/09/2026: What a treat! We planned our trip to Ballydehob around visiting this restaurant, as part of our honeymoon, and the tasting menu was a stand out dining experience! The space is cosy and well designed and the staff were warm and attentive without being overbearing. The food was phenomenal, perfectly cooked and I will be thinking about soke of the courses for a long time to come. Great use of local produce and the plating was also superb on a range of interestingly textured pottery and stoneware. They also adapted easily to dietary requirements (lactose intolerance/dairy free) which can be rare in fine dining/tasting menus.

23/08/2026: Had the tasting menu. The soda bread was lovely.

02/10/2026: Not surprisingly it was quiet on a cold and wet Friday lunchtime but the cottage pie was A1 with plenty of vegetables.

19/09/2026: I wanted to say huge thank you to the waitress that went above and beyond to accommodate us with our small dog today. We truly couldn’t thank her enough for such a good service.
