The Oar Bar

25/08/2025: We had a wonderful experience yesterday when the Oar restaurant enabled us to host 32 guests for lunch to celebrate a big birthday. Everything was thought of. We had the menu in advance so that we could reorder. The staff were helpful and friendly. Everyone raved about their food. The vegetarians were happy! Thank you to all of the staff for making this a very happy and memorable family event.
Oh, and the views are sublime, the best in Crosshaven.
15/08/2025: Food was awful, I ordered a medium steak and I was brought a well cooked steak instead, my partner ordered a prawn tagliatelle dish which had about 5 small prawns in it. Menu options were very limited.
I added a request to my booking saying it was my partners birthday, which was completely ignored, I wanted to surprise her with a little birthday desert or something similar.
Staff was great, very friendly, very accommodating, very understanding.
It was very loud inside the restaurant itself, very hard to talk to or hear the other person.

23/08/2025: Really enjoyed the homemade lasagna. Kids cleared their plates! Friendly staff, but it's the little things that matter. Arrived quite early but we're still accommodated...plastic cups for kids (not a lot restaurants have them) so a proper kid friendly restaurant...great 90's playlist in the background and when I asked for a pint glass of Coke...I got a pint glass!
19/08/2025: We had lunch here after taking Barry Molone's walking tour. Very friendly family-run pub. Excellent espresso martini for the wife; excellent whiskey cocktail for myself. I did not like my seafood pie, but that's on me for choosing it. It was well made, it's just not something I would like, and now I know. The other food looked great. I had a couple of the wife's chips; excellent.

02/06/2025: Friendly staff and lovely food topped off an exceptionally good dining experience. The crab salad starter was delicious. Main course was gorgeous and the desert was delicious. Wine list was short but nicely balanced with good value options. It is an absolute exemplar of how people can deliver great customer service by keeping the basics right.

05/07/2025: Superb. The most amazing lobster roll I’ve ever tasted. Came with a huge salad and fries and on a gluten free roll as per request. Was so pleasantly surprised to have gluten free options right by the cable car on Dursey Sound.
Owners fiancé is also celiac and they were very knowledgeable.
23/06/2025: Perfect. A fresh lobster roll that fed two whilst watching dolphins playing in the ocean. Family business, busy but had plenty of time to talk and explain their business.

16/09/2025: Wonderful pub in Kinsale. Lots of character full of local characters. Cozy dark interior with a small dining area and more covered/uncovered outdoor seating. Limited whiskey selection but plenty of beer on tap. Just had drinks so I can't comment on the food.

15/08/2025: Muy mala experiencia en general. La cocina simplemente no puede hacer frente a las órdenes, todo lo que podría salir mal salió mal. Niños hambrientos durante hora y media sin comida. Cuando finalmente llegó la comida estaba demasiado cocinada y sin condimentar. Muy triste. ¡NO HAY CARTA DE VINOS! El único vino blanco que tenían era un laurel de ostras estándar de NZ, ni siquiera sabíamos el precio, cobraban 38€ por botella. Sentí mucha pena por la camarera que estaba tratando de hacer todo lo posible.

20/08/2025: We had lunch at Bushe's after a morning in Baltimore and tried the open crab sandwich, delicious! We also ordered the soup of the day, a very tasty potato soup.
06/08/2025: It looks very nice, but when we tried to order something to eat, we were told they didn't have any food, even though the Google reviews raved about the sandwiches.
I wouldn't recommend it if you're coming back hungry from the boat tour.

Titanic Bar and Grill

14/09/2025: As a fan of the Titanic story, I came here expecting the restaurant to be filled with titanic memorabilia and mediocre food but it was in fact the opposite! The food was incredible and worth the price I paid. There was very limited titanic memorabilia present (a couple photos and things in the entrance way). The place felt a little “lost” in terms of theming and atmosphere (maybe it’s just not to my taste?) but the good food more than makes up for it all.
13/09/2025: The food was fabulous, the service abysmal. There was no smile, the taunting was blatant. No motivation, and we waited, waited, waited. For the food and for the empty plates, since they hadn't cleared them. We didn't leave a tip.

01/08/2025: we had an outstanding weekend stay over at the West Cork Hotel. It had been 10 years since our last visit and it was even more charming than before. Tremendous service, a great Irish breakfast in the morning and a wonderful location combined with an extremely attentive and responsive staff contributed to an outstanding experience! I highly recommend the West Cork Hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay while visiting one of the most enjoyable parts of Ireland.
