31/10/2025: A superb townhouse and restaurant, with excellent service from all staff members and beautiful food. Even though I am coeliac and lactose intolerant, there was no problem meeting my needs (a rare event!) The whole establishment is spotless and inviting and the restaurant was buzzing with chat and laughter. David and Gaye (and Anne) are to be commended on their attention to detail in every way. We shall return. Highly recommended !!

11/09/2025: A nice cafe, the menu looked good and the food was tasty. Sadly, the portions we had for lunch were really very small and we both left still feeling hungry. It was expensive and just didn’t feel like value for money, due to portion size.

17/08/2025: The rudest staff I have ever come across, especially the manager/ bar man with an English accent. Shushing customers and speaking abruptly to us because he couldn't cope with the 2 groups of customers coming into the bar for food at the same time. It wasn't even busy, but he couldnt handle it. We all have bad days, but the look on the staffs' faces suggest this is a regular occurance from him. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. We ended up leaving. I feel sorry for the other staff, especially the lovely waiting staff who were trying to explain to him which group was to be seated next and looking at us with an apologetic look on their faces. Avoid at all costs.

10/10/2025: Service staff the waitresses were lovely and the pints are really nice and it's nice on the inside good atmosphere but by god that food is absolutely brutal, the chef would want to go away and become a barber or something because genuinely his passion is nowhere near that menu. That food feels like it's just sitting in an oven waiting for it's next victim, bland, tasteless ive had better turkey our of a petrol station carvery. I'd say this place is busy just because there's not much else around. Again I would like to say the service staff and the atmosphere and pints are 10/10 but food is seriously lacking.

10/09/2025: I have been here often but have noted a recent decline, in quality of food and the service. Not all the staff but the majority on the day I visited were unfriendly bar one young blonde woman. The food was not well presented and was sub par. And there were several dishes not available. We were seated but had to go and find a staff to remind them to take our order after waiting for about 15 minutes. It seemed others around us seemed to be having the same issues and experience.

20/10/2025: Needs someone in charge. Kids serving without a clue what they are doing. They were pleasant but clueless.

19/10/2025: The Walter Raleigh Hotel in Youghal is a 1920s hotel, renovated. Located on the beach front. The most notable thing is its cuisine. They do a good à la carte breakfast. And we had a very good dinner. Recommended.

25/08/2025: Great service as always, food is fabulous, well worth a vist. (not just pub grub, it's restaurant quality), not local but been coming here for nearly 20 years when west along, its always a good place top stop

10/08/2025: Make sure when you book for dinner that you check they have written it down in the book. We showed up with a big party - having booked a month in advance - and were turned away with the implication that we had made it up. No apology - somewhat lacking in people skills.

27/08/2025: Beautiful setting and the food is gorgeous, they also are well able to cater for anyone that suffers celiac and prevention of cross contamination,

23/08/2025: Lovely food and cakes but place is filthy. Need a deep cleaning. Cutlery very dirty, tables. Staff need a proper training. They where putting fingers into mugs.Nobody is cleaning a tables

29/09/2025: The hotel has a great location and a rustic feel. Unfortunately, it's quite dated and rather noisy. However, the breakfast was delicious.

11/09/2025: Very old room that needs renovations. Elevator didn't work on main floor. Beds very comfortable. Windows had bird poop all over them. Tub very dangerous to get in/out, so that meant no showering. Quiet room. Way overpriced and definitely not 4 or 5 stars. Jude very welcoming upon arrival, but, paying up front not ok. Breakfast was fantastic!

21/09/2025: We were here today September 21st, Sunday at 2:30. And it's closed for season. But Google maps said it's open. Dissapointing

05/09/2025: Very delicious food, friendly, attentive service. Reasonable prices. Friday special: starter or dessert plus main course for only 20 euros.

05/09/2025: A lovely place to eat traditional Irish coastal dishes, with a very relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. We tried the seafood soup and fish and chips with fresh fish.

21/08/2025: Generous and delicious seafood chowder, I would come back again.

04/10/2025: We had dinner here last week. We had been here a number of years ago and the standard has gone down a lot. I had seafood chowder which was full of potatoes and very little seafood and came with a skin on top. The turkey was dry and the ham looked like it was out of a packet, there was no stuffing which is very odd with a turkey and ham meal. The potatoes and gravy were nice. Side order of chips were dry and mostly inedible. The toffee apple dessert (sticky toffee) didn’t look appealing but tasted okay. We ordered two soft drinks and one non-alcoholic Tom Collins. There is a good cocktail menu but they won’t do other mocktails outside of Friday and Saturday. Service was okay but when plates clearly with uneaten food on them were returned there was no checking if they were okay. We spent €106, I would not be returning.

20/09/2025: Had a really lovely lunch in Poachers today. The food was delicious and the staff were fabulous. Would highly recommend ☺️

20/09/2025: Only visited the gardens and the James Turrell Landscape Art. It was excellent with plenty of routs and places to sit and relax. The hotel receptiin was stunning.
