The best restaurantsof irish in Donegal

05/05/2025: Came with my fiancée. Despite We were ignored for the first five minutes after entering the restaurant. The food is where I’m really confused. I had the mussels to start — they came in a lovely pot designed to keep the heat in, but the mussels were cold. Some had broken shells and hadn’t been cleaned properly. I had to stop eating them because they were cold and barely coated in a thin layer of sauce. Nobody came back to check on us during the starter. I ordered the fillet steak with crispy red onion rings. The steak was perfectly cooked and fell apart — really well done. The onion rings were so nice I ordered more, but when the second batch came out, they were cold, dry, and clearly not fresh. When we went to pay the bill, we weren’t even asked if we enjoyed our meal. The mussels were still on the bill, even though we told the waiter they tasted off. We felt very unwelcome the entire time, likely because we weren’t locals. I’d avoid this place if you want cold food and warm drinks.

27/04/2025: We had such a wonderful dinner here last Wednesday celebrating my daughterJennifer and Jorges wedding. This was the first celebration of their wedding and Fergal and everyone at the Boathouse made it so special where we gathered for dinner with Jorges family from La Nucia, Spain. Perfect venue with great food, beautiful location and relaxed atmosphere. Special thanks to Patrick too.

02/08/2025: I ordered a beef burger meal for €12.50 with onions and cheese. Look at the photo. This is unacceptable.

30/07/2025: If you're looking for somewhere to eat in bundoran, I highly recommend it here. The food is lovely the staff are lovely. It doesn't take forever for the food to come and it's always so delicious. I love going here with my family when we are on holidays in bundoran

26/07/2025: Unfortunately, the main courses we had were disappointing and overpriced, in our opinion. The sirloin steak was served on the bone (which wasn't mentioned on the menu, which may put some people off). The desserts and coffee were delicious - definitely worth a try! Service was friendly but slow.

20/04/2025: We went in here as group of 7 adults and 2 children on a Sunday. Excellent place. Service was excellent, food was lovely. Had to be nearly rolled out the door I was that full.

12/05/2025: Edible, that's how you can describe it. It is one of the cheap food alternatives in Letterkenny but unfortunately also one of the worse. Some of the fries weren't quite cooked through and the fish was dry. The service was, to put it positively, unenthusiastic about his work…

14/07/2025: Had a wonderful time at Villa Rose. Strictly dancing was a fantastic break. Rooms, food and staff were so so good. Highly recommend this hotel.

29/06/2025: Fantastic staff for wedding functions and great location.clean hotel and again the staff at the weddings where top notch was so well organised and coordinated on there side was a quest and was very shocked how good the service and food was!

13/07/2025: I don't give 5 stars,but Lake of shadows they deserve that rating. Staff was very helpful and welcoming, we check in, Laura was very welcoming. Paddy, the barman, brought a smile 😃 to our face.

10/07/2025: The hotel’s location is its only redeeming feature; otherwise, it was deeply disappointing. I stayed here with my family for a business trip, booked by my company, leaving me no choice. The room was extremely dusty, with spider webs near the windows and small spiders on the bed. I started itching as soon as I got into bed, and it felt like the room hadn’t been cleaned in months. The phone was also dead, forcing us to go to the reception at night just to request water. Most alarmingly, a staff member entered our room without permission or knocking while my wife was alone, casually asking if we needed anything. This was unacceptable and unsettling, especially since she forgot to lock the door. Management must train staff to respect guests’ privacy and practice basic manners. Additionally, loud snoring from a nearby room disturbed our sleep. We planned to stay for two nights but left a day early due to these issues. I will not return to this hotel and strongly advise management to address these serious concerns.
