21/08/2026: Early evening visit, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff

20/08/2026: There aren't many restaurants in the area, so we were all the more surprised when we walked in. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a good selection of food and drinks. The food we ordered was excellent, the coffee was very good – we were completely satisfied. The price-performance ratio was absolutely perfect!

07/08/2026: This is an excellent restaurant. Despite a rather unpreposessing location (looks like it's next to a car park in a shopping centre), the food is of the highest quality, and the service very attentive. The amuses bouches are well executed, and the wine list well thought out (two New Zealand Sauvignons!). We had the scallops and the crab tartlet starters (both very good), and the monkfish & pork belly and hake mains. The monkfish was lovely, the pork belly a bit underwhelming (a la pulled pork) but the hake (not an easy fish to get right) was absolutely perfect. Dessert (salted caramel tart, but more like a pave) was also sublime. Way above expectations.

13/08/2026: One of the best seafood chowder i have had. Ate there 3 nights in a row but avoid Wednesday when the pub fare is not available and a pizza company takes over for the night. Unless of course you like pizza but i thought they were rather bog standard.

07/08/2026: Just the perfect Irish Pub. Great bar; lots of small rooms making an excellent, but intimate, atmosphere; wonderful beer and very good food. The service is as friendly and helpful as you will find anywhere. I had the fish and chips with mushy peas which were very good.

14/08/2026: It's rare for me to review anywhere these days but this gem in Buncrana deserves it.

08/08/2026: We were a mix of vegans and omnivores. Amazing food, generous portions and absolutely lovely staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

11/08/2026: Booked a table for 14 and landed and they said they thought we said 2. Didn’t even have room for a table of 14. 14 doesn’t even sound like 2. A women stopped me outside saying they did the same to them last week. Got told tonight they turned away another table of 12 after making a booking also! Ridiculous

14/08/2026: Great service from a dedicated crew, it was very busy but they found me a table for one very quickly. I ordered their famous Chowder and I was not disappointed. Very generous amount of fish in the stew, tasty and very colourful. Chased down with a pint of stout...A real Irish meal...Thank you

06/08/2026: Absolutely an amazing pub always have something on all the time, can be busy but thr staff work there buts off to keep everyone served and happy , always in this pub each time im over in dungloe, big shout out too big danny boyle bar man, didnt stop non stop all night and is good chat and laugh give the man a pay rise 😁

08/08/2026: We have been coming to this restaurant for many years, and it has become one of those local places we know we can always rely on. Whether it’s a casual midweek meal, a busy weekend visit, a family celebration or a larger gathering, the food and service are consistently excellent. Over the years, we have also attended family occasions and funeral gatherings in their private function rooms, and the team have always handled everything with such professionalism, warmth and care. When you are organising an important family occasion, having somewhere you know will look after everyone makes such a difference. The food is consistently good, with plenty of choice, generous portions and a standard that never seems to change no matter how busy they are. The service is equally impressive, friendly, attentive and efficient, with staff who genuinely make you feel welcome. After so many years and so many different occasions, we continue to return, which probably says everything! A fantastic local restaurant with great food, wonderful service and a team who know how to look after their customers. Highly recommended.

08/08/2026: Ideal place to enjoy Irish food. Delicious two-course set menu or à la carte. Excellent roast beef! Great value for money and very friendly staff. I would definitely return.

19/08/2026: Have to give today’s experience a negative review. I have visited Mountaintop Diner before and had a good meal. Today unfortunately was a bad one. We arrived just after the lunch rush so it was not too busy. Lunch order was a bowl of soup and a lunch special, goujon wrap. Waited 40 min. for these 2 items. Veg Soup was terrible. Goujon wrap had 1 piece of chicken. Wrap was barely filled. Was given a 10% discount because of the inconvenience. Won’t be returning.

16/08/2026: What you would expect in a "diner" type setting. Nice busy spot with lots coming and going. Good food, good choices, but nothing to OTT fancy. Burgers, Sambos, curry, pasta, a broad mix

12/07/2026: Great food, but the day we went was a hot day. The restaurant was stiflingly hot and they seen to have a problem with insects. We all spent the whole night sweating and trying to fend off hoardes of hungry flies. Spoiled it for us. At the end we were glad to get outside for some cool air and to get away from the flies. Shame as it's such good food. Please invest in a fly zapper or something.

17/06/2026: This Hotel was absolutely outstanding, in a class of it's own. Seriously to die for. The rooms are beautiful set out. The restaurant with as the oak furniture was so tastefully decorated, it's own little coffee shop. The staff were a pleasure to be around. The Highlands Hotel just kept giving and giving. The food was outstanding, my favourite meal there was the mussels in a tomato and herb sauce. The bar manager Tuffer (Christopher) was superb add to to the organisation, a very knowledgeable chap who knows how to run a bar with ease. I would visit the Highlands in a heartbeat and will be going again soon, very soon. Glenties the town is a biscuit tin town. Idyllic with the most beautiful views that stop you in your tracks to take it all in. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
