14/09/2024: Lovely setting, weather not great this evening but staff lovely welcome and couldn't do enough to help us. Great wee town, a couple of lovely pubs, great staff and value for money. Definitely a revisit in the future,

29/10/2024: Great Gluten free options. Food is fantastic and the service is great. Food is prepared fresh and served quick. They are very accommodating and helpful.

10/09/2024: Can I give them 6 stars? Peppers is the real deal. We were a group of 100 cyclists and crew on a 400Km charity cycle across the wild atlantic way raising funds for LauraLynn. Peppers fed us all for free as a donation to our cause. Can't thank them enough. Awesome food, great great great people. Highly recommended and I'm looking forward to my next trip to visit them again as a paying customer.

31/10/2024: To whomever it may concern. if you are contpemplating on going to this establishment known as Friars rest I beseech you to quickly make haste from the idea. In my experience with this establishment it has been nothing but nauseating food coupled with a somewhat more sickening environment. I do not wish to disband the establishment or its workers with this review but something must be said immediately if they would be fond of common visiting. I quote the famous Gandalf from the works of J.R.R Tolkien when I hear that anyone is in this establishment "Fly you fools". Now I shall make haste onto the sustenance of this establishment. To be simply put the "Food" of Friars Rest is preposterous in every manor. To anyone from Derry reading this It was pure minging lad keep er lit. And to anyone not from Derry the vast and quite frankly indescribable nature of this food is beyond my linguistic capabilities currently and potentially ever. The "water" of Friars Rest is served in cups that appear to have been never cleaned or at least have not been perhaps since Friars Rest opened. The cutlery is riddled in finger prints and grime and potentially old saliva. They appear to have been never cleaned just like the glasses. The "Food" is repulsive especially the meat which does not appear to be cooked well. The chips are typically black in colouring and are coated in a thick layer of grease that will leave your mouth in a dusty sort of state. To conclude this review which I may continue at a later of date Friars rest is a Establishment to be avoided as of now. I give this advice not only to warn people but also to help improve Friars rest. All in all Friars rest must change with the times. It is living in the past with its decor and food. I hope that if I am ever in Friars rest again I shall see great improvement not only in the food but in the decor and atmosphere. Yours truly Canice

17/10/2024: This was our 4th time to stay in this hotel. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The rooms are very warm and cosy, with comfortable beds. All the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is very good, and very reasonably priced. Getting change from €5 for a pint in Ireland these days is rare, this hotel do beautiful pints of Guinness and Heineken for less than €5 a pint. Great selection at breakfast, including a freshly cooked Full Irish Breakfast. The location of the hotel is perfect, it really is a beautiful part of Donegal. The Hotel has a very homely feel to it, which is why it won't be long until we return once again.

11/08/2024: This remote bar is in a beautiful seafront location. Very limited opening hours for food, Friday to Sun early evenings only. There’s no website or online booking so I called the landline around 1.30 and got a voicemail with a mobile number. I called it twice, no reply. The number is on WhatsApp and the listing says ‘Can’t talk, WhatsApp only’ so I sent a message. No reply. Wondering if they were still in business, we took a chance and drove out there anyway, arriving about 4.45 - they open at 5. When we arrived every table had a reserved sign on it. The two women we met initially claimed not to have received my message. I showed it to them on my phone and they replied they’d been closed at 1.30 and simultaneously ‘very busy’. They said they were fully booked, showing me a clipboard with that evening’s bookings. I expressed genuine surprise at how all these people managed to make bookings when communication with the venue is so difficult. One of the women then said ‘you obviously don’t work in the catering business.’?! (I don’t, but I ran a small family business in a service industry for over twenty years. Responding to messages from potential customers is a basic requirement.) I was then informed that people book a few days ahead, often by email. Silly me for not knowing this. I was made to feel it was somehow my fault for not understanding their booking system. One of the women begrudgingly offered us a seat at the bar counter, asked one of the waitresses to take our order and walked off. Not the Donegal welcome I’d been hoping for. Food was fine and service from the younger wait staff was friendly. I’d heard so many good things about this place but the reception we got was very off putting.

14/11/2024: The environment is truly charming, with a wall full of books that adds a unique touch to the atmosphere. The food is satisfactory, neither exceptional nor disappointing, overall providing an acceptable dining experience.

20/08/2024: Arrived with 4 kids under 9. Staff offered us our choice of seats. Got kids colouring menus and baby high chair asap. Not a long wait for food and kids loved the choices on menu. Overall a very enjoyable experience due to the lovely young staff understanding the importance of keeping young kids happy to enjoy the food. Great service overall

25/08/2024: Great Cafe In Rathmullan The Staff Is Very Friendly And Polite and The Clothes Are Going On Sale That She Made Them.

05/11/2024: We dined as a group of 14 for a special occasion. I had emailed in advance and was told that a there was a set menu for groups of 12 or more and that a Sunday roast special would also be included. On the day we were then advised that it was not. Most of the food was delicious particularly the starters and desserts. However 5 out of 14 people ordered well done steaks which all came out medium at best. We paid a supplement for the steaks to be cooked to order so this was disappointing especially as we were treating our guests to this meal and so they would not have wanted to complain. Service of the main course was also slow with 10minutes between the main course and sides being brought out. Most disappointingly, I emailed the restaurant afterwards outlining the issues and still have not received a response a week later. As a result I would not recommend the church for a similar event.

29/06/2024: Staff are very disrespectful shouted at me when I asked kindly if I could borrow a charger to charge my phone to call a taxi told me to “go home charge it yourself and don’t come back” very disappointing

27/09/2024: Very good food in a nice restaurant. Bit of a shame we were seated upstairs as atmosphere slightly flat. However service still very good and the food was excellent

01/10/2024: A lovely bar, traditional, run lovingly by a family who've run it for decades. Right in front of a sea inlet , the owner was exceptionally kind & friendly to me & my learning disabled sister. Highly recommended. Pizza on sale but no actual restaurant open that day ( not sure of other days.) It wasn't "buzzing" but to escape from the stresses of modern day life, thus is your place. Picnic tables in front of sea. Ideal.

02/06/2024: Only the bar was open not open for food ; don’t waste your time going there if you want food even though website says it is open from 12:30 for food ; very disappointing

18/07/2024: Frendly helpful staff. More attention to general cleaning,crocery and cuttelery. Teapots need deep, pastries were hard, don't know if they were stail or kept in chill cabinet

05/06/2024: We stopped off for fish and chips and the service was great. Food also good too. Big portions too. Very friendly staff. Card payment taken. Worth a visit if your nearby.

27/04/2024: The food was excellent and so was the service - however the prices were embarrassing to say the least. It would be of more value to go to a local hotel and get a main course dinner. Will never be back !!!!!!! Money gougers
