07/04/2026: I had the pleasure of dining at this gastro pub during my stay in Cong and it genuinely exceeded expectations.
The atmosphere strikes that rare balance between cosy and refined. It feels authentically Irish without trying too hard, with a warm and welcoming energy that makes you want to settle in and stay a while, especially welcome on a rainy evening.
The food was the real highlight. Thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, and most importantly, full of flavor. You can tell there's real care in the kitchen, with quality ingredients and a menu that elevates classic dishes without over complicating them.
Service was equally impressive, attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being forced. The staff clearly take pride in what they do and it shows.
All in all, this is exactly what you hope to find in a gastro pub but rarely do. If you are in Cong do not over think it. Just go.
02/04/2026: I arrived very hungry and late, and spontaneously decided on the Dish of the Day – perfect! I was almost surprised to receive such a juicy, delicious salmon steak on couscous with excellent vegetables and roasted potatoes. Great beer recommendation: Kilkenny Red Ale...

11/04/2026: Hotel is lovely, staff were so friendly and helpful. Family room was so spacious. Room and ensuite was spotless and had everything anyone needed. Breakfast was lovely. Great parking at the back of hotel. We really enjoyed our time there.
26/02/2026: Staff friendly, apart from lady in bar, unwelcoming looked like she didn't want to be there. Everyone else was ok. Distinct smell of old grease as soon as you get to any of the doors, and inside the Hotel. Room is freezing cold, bathroom mold in shower tray, dirty shower head, mold along the top of the ceiling, and the glass shower door edges.
The ceiling in main room had quite a bit of water damage in 2 places, room 215. Cobwebs everywhere, carpet dated. No firedoor at all.
Smell of grease in room too.
Had to ask to be moved, which they did. And they gave us a portable heater.
Room 218, only slightly better, but again freezing, so welcomed to have the heater, no firedoor. Could see the hall light under the gap of door at night time. Smoke detector had a plaster on it, remote for TV didn't work properly at all.
Restaurant, seats actually stuck to the floor, looked like the cold breakfast items were left out over night.
Had some food in bar first night and ended up with food poisoning. Wouldn't eat in there again.

23/03/2026: Table for 9 booked for 14 00. Arrived a couple of minutes early to sign my vehicle in and then waited to be seated! Ha ha. I wasn't even acknowledged, no eye contact from any of the staff ( under staffed ) This gave me time to take a close look around.... This "Beefeater" needs to be closed ASAP and be refurbished! While that's being done, retrain the staff to understand customer service and on a Sunday lunchtime, maybe rota a couple of extra employees in to cover the usual "throng" that is the norm during these hours. The couple in front ( pub owners ) and myself ( used to be in the same trade ) left the building. Not good!
21/03/2026: It really is not good value for money.
It's the same old thing. Less food on the plate but with inflated prices.

08/08/2024: Visita de regreso a este hotel.
Decepcionado con algunas cosas.
Sentí la zona exterior muy sucia, y teniendo en cuenta que es lo primero que la gente ve, los platos sucios, vasos vacíos dejados durante más de una hora en mesas desatendidas era tan poco atractivo.
Ciertamente no se debió a la falta de personal, ya que parecía haber suficiente cantidad de ellos trabajando.
Y mientras que el personal del bar atento y amable, el personal de camareros podría absolutamente hacer con algunos consejos sobre el servicio al cliente, todos parecían hartos, como si no quisieran estar allí y no un poco acogedor o atractivo.
No me alojaría de nuevo.
Una ubicación tan fabulosa y podría ser excelente lamentablemente sentía que había bajado colina de años anteriores.
En una nota adicional pagando solo en efectivo por las comidas grita Dudoso y los clientes deben ser informados antes de hacer el pedido.
15/07/2024: Pensé que podríamos cenar aquí... olvídalo. Bar muy ruidoso gracias a los varios televisores salpicados a todo volumen. Cuando le pregunté a la camarera si podíamos conseguir una mesa me dijeron que "no tenía ni idea, pregunte al personal del comedor". El 'comedor' consistía en muebles baratos parecidos a una cafetería de la escuela sin personal a la vista, así que esperamos y esperamos, pero nadie se acercó a nosotros. La clientela que estaba comiendo allí (descubrimos mientras esperábamos) consistía en una gran familia de la comunidad itinerante!! Hemos dado marcha atrás rápidamente y sin duda nunca volverá. ¡El lugar es lo que mi hija describió como "una inmersión"!
