The Wicklow Heather
Laragh
01/11/2025: The food and service was exceptional! Avinash was our server and he went above and beyond for us absolutely amazing! Will be back again!
01/11/2025: We visited Wicklow Heather after exploring Glendalough in the autumn, and it was a truly special experience. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming — the perfect place to relax after a walk in the valley.
We started with the **pulled beef croquettes**, which were excellent: homemade, crispy on the outside, and served with a delicious **fig jam** that balanced the flavors beautifully.
My wife had the **Irish lamb stew**, incredibly fresh and comforting, with that authentic countryside taste. I ordered the **venison with wine and chocolate sauce**, which was tender, rich, and full of flavor. It came with a fantastic mashed potato and perfectly roasted parsnips.
The wine list was also a pleasant surprise — I highly recommend the **Nero d’Avola from Sicily**, which paired wonderfully with the dishes.
Service was great: friendly, attentive, and efficient without being intrusive.
All in all, this is an ideal spot to enjoy high-quality local food in a charming setting, especially if you’re visiting **Glendalough in autumn**, when the surroundings feel even more magical.
**Highly recommended!**

The Hungry Monk
Greystones
03/10/2025: Lovely atmosphere and while my dish (surf and turf) was ok, my mother ordered the most spectacular wild caught fresh cod with a prosecco and Chive cream sauce! There were many fabulous items to choose from; just regretted my order. Napkins and cutlery were flimsy and canteen like which was suprising. Food and ambience made up for these little shortcomings.
23/09/2025: Had a lovely night here. A very welcoming place. Really made feel so comfortable.
Only a few mins to wait before getting table Had previously booked.
A lovely atmosphere, a little dark but the candle effect was beautiful and made it feel romantic.
A beautiful selection on the menu.
Delicious and hot. Great flavours.
Great comadary amongst the Staff.
Asked us on more than one occasion was everything good.
Toilets spotless.
Will be back.
Highly recommended.

West Wicklow House
Blessington
06/11/2025: Called in for food just after a busy lunchtime, staff were busy cleaning up. Big group of American tourists just leaving, all very happy by the looks of them.
Staff wete vety friendly and efficient. Food was served quickly and great selection on the menu. I had the roast beef and my partner had the roast Seabass. Both were very good. Place very clean, good atmosphere and very spacious. Will be back.
06/11/2025: Staff great. Quality of the burger very poor, particularly the beef patty.

Glenmalure Lodge
14/08/2025: I stayed overnight in my camper on the car park, thanks to BritStops for helping me discover this hidden gem. Waking up to the stunning valley views.
The pub is lively and welcoming, with a fantastic kitchen. Dinner was absolutely delicious – generous portions, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. The bar offers a wide selection of drinks, and the staff give great advice to help you choose something you’ll love.
Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, freshly prepared and hearty, the perfect start to the day.
While I didn’t stay in one of the rooms, I was kindly allowed to use the shower in the morning – much appreciated! Friendly service, great food, and a beautiful setting make this a place I’d gladly return to.
14/08/2025: We had an absolutely wonderful time at The Glenmalure Lodge. The food was exceptional - the lamb was exquisite and cooked to perfection, with generous portions that left us completely satisfied.
What truly made our visit special was the incredibly welcoming and helpful staff. Their warm hospitality went above and beyond our expectations. As an extra touch of kindness, they even allowed us to park our motorhome overnight in their car park free of charge, which was greatly appreciated.
The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and genuine Irish hospitality makes The Glenmalure Lodge a true gem. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
Thank you to all the staff for making our visit so memorable!

The Dining Room at Rathsallagh
Dunlavin
15/10/2025: Another lovely visit to Rathsallagh for a wedding performance. Friendly and welcoming staff as always. GREAT COFFEE! Lovely gardens to wander through.
22/09/2025: We had our wedding here this weekend and to say it was the best day of our lives is an understatement. The venue, the staff, the ambience, the service and everything about Rathsallagh immensely added to that feeling and experience. Whether it was the glam room set up to kick the day off in style, the guest check in experience, the photos in the walled garden, the extremely high quality food or the coordinators, staff and everyone from Rathsallagh, I don’t think I have ever experienced a better hospitality offering in my life. Huge thank you to the team, and a massive recommendation if you’re looking at wedding venues!
