The best restaurants in Portlaoise

18/01/2026: Nicely decorated restaurants stone walls and ceiling beams,wasn't impressed by the service ! We were waiting 20mins to be even asked for our orders thats criminal !! ,no offer of jug of water or titbits to nibble on as you wait.The food itself was ok the burger is super thin you get 2 on your bun to try make it look decent,the fries were average, also what put me off returning here is the noise of the music blaring I feel like you're competing with the racket playing while trying to have a conversation.

22/03/2026: Not a good experience at all. The food was very disappointing — it felt like plain boiled chicken thrown on top of a pizza with raw vegetables. The pizza itself was slimy and completely lacking in flavour. The service wasn’t great either; they offered dessert to other tables but didn’t even ask us. There was no warmth or friendliness. I honestly don’t understand how this place has such high ratings — the food was tasteless and unappealing.

20/03/2026: Service was very disappointing and I would not return. We were seated at an outdoor table even though the entire outside area was empty, and the table and surrounding area had an unpleasant smell. We had to ask multiple times to be moved, but staff kept insisting other tables were “reserved,” yet no one arrived during the full hour we were there. Overall the atmosphere felt uncaring, and the way our request was handled made us feel very unwelcome. I’d recommend better cleanliness and more honest, flexible seating management before I could consider coming back.

16/10/2025: We were visiting family and went there for something to eat. From getting there it felt like we were welcome. We got our table and Danni Kennedy served us. She was very welcoming and friendly. It just felt that she could not do enough for us. The food was excellent and very tasty.

16/10/2025: Went to Jeremiah’s over the weekend, lovely pub with a lovely atmosphere. We got served by Danni who was very friendly and professional, a credit to your business. Will be returning soon

05/12/2025: The food was amazing, super fresh fish, home made chips, large portions, the desserts were top class, everything was perfect. Polite staff, we loved the cozy and old fashioned atmosphere.

05/03/2026: Take-away (delivery) of Fish and Chips Nicely presented for a take-away as for the food ...I couldn't believe how fresh the produce was , nice crisp batter as for the chips they were on point . I would recommend the fish and chips take way

24/02/2026: Food & service at Eddie's in Portlaoise is amazing. Really not much more expensive than any of the other fast food chains in general, and actually cheaper with app vouchers or daily offers like Kids Eat Free Tuesday. Food is so much fresher and nicer than regular fast food though, and staff are super nice. Definitely worth a visit!

30/08/2025: What a gem. Service was just top class, friendly, fast efficient. Value for money. Toilets clean, wash basin in mens needed clean is all & maybe needs an upgrade aesthetically wise. Eggs benedict - top quality bacon 🥓 was very tasty, could be but crispier, but personal preference. Hollandaise was delicious, lemon coming through. Poached eggs perfect runny... Coffee & tea solid. Highly highly recommended 👌 #supportlocal
