16/06/2026: Had a family lunch here recently. Staff were excellent, service was excellent and food was excellent. Will be back.

16/07/2026: Another AMAZING night in the Square Bar, came into watch The World Cup and ended up playing the The Quiz. Great night with amazing staff highly recommend to all and a special shout out to the staff; Aoife, Alishia, & Niamh!! I'll be back for the final & quiz again

13/03/2026: We had a blast🎊🎊🎊 we had a friend from Kansas visit and we chose the Sally's for the night, it was the best choice. It was karaoke night, we meet a wonderful group of people, the service was excellent, and the music, just what we needed. My friend was so exited with the atmosphere and all. Highly recommend the Sally's

02/08/2026: Staff are very slow and awkward , arrived before the movie even started and still ended up missing 25 minutes of the movie waiting to get my drink. Cinema wasn’t even that busy . Cinema is ridiculously expensive 45 euro for two tickets and one drink absolutely chronic . IMC cinemas are way better value

20/06/2026: Our main course dishes were nice and tasty, very generous in portion. Side rice, we're ok. My spring rolls were ok, little cool on the inside! Service was quick and polite. Basic interior, but functional.

13/06/2026: We recently dined at Emperor's House in Portlaoise and overall had a pleasant experience. The food was very good, arriving nice and hot, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. That said, we found the pricing quite high, particularly when you consider that all sides are charged separately. For example, BBQ ribs were €10.50, soup was €7, and a spring roll starter was €7.50. Two children's goujons and chips meals came to €24 in total. It's important to note that rice (€4.50), chips (€4.50), and noodles (€6.50) are all additional charges. Sauces were also extra, with curry sauce and honey sauce both costing €5 each. One of our daughters wanted something similar to a spice bag and was served salt and chilli chips (€7) plus salt and chilli chicken (€10.50), bringing the cost of that meal to €17.50 before any extras. Drinks were also on the expensive side, with Heineken Zero and Smirnoff Ice both priced at €5.95, a bottle of rosé at €27, and coffee at €3.90. Overall, I would rate the food 8/10 for quality and presentation. The food and service were very good, but the pricing structure, particularly the additional charges for sides and sauces, made the overall bill much higher than expected.

09/05/2026: Best chipper in the country! IMO 😅 I have relocated to to the North, but gotta have a Golden Grill whenever I visit home. Haven't found a better batter sausage in all the land either. 5/5

01/08/2026: Worst gym in town. It has got no air conditioner and it feels wormer than outside. Also, there are no fans available. They keep the windows closed and you are not allowed to open them. Management are indifferent about the issue. Would not recommend this leisure centre to anyone.

28/07/2026: I haven't used the gym but the pool is decent ,ive heard of some kids misbehaving recently but ive only ever gone during times its mostly empty and it was ok. The surrounding play area and skate park are also decent

02/08/2026: Pizzas were good but definitely would not order from here again the spice bags were wet as if the chips were cooked and were mushed together in the bag for a while, some were cooked on the outside but still slightly under cooked in the middle. The chicken described as crispy was definitely not crispy.

25/07/2026: This was the worst food I've ever had. I couldn't even finish it—I ended up throwing it away. The only good thing was the delicious flatbread, and that's it. I definitely don't recommend this place. My stomach was in shock after eating this food.

14/07/2026: I recently visited this Costa Coffee and was extremely disappointed. The Issue: A female staff member wearing the official Costa uniform was sitting right at the open main entrance and smoking. The Impact: Because the doors were wide open, the disgusting smell of cigarette smoke was blowing directly inside. The interior smelled absolutely awful. Price vs. Quality: Costa charges premium prices, but the atmosphere in this branch was worse than in a cheap, run-down pub. I absolutely do not recommend this place. Management needs to teach their staff basic respect for customers and common sense hygiene. Completely ruined my coffee experience.

03/08/2026: We were disappointed with the overall service. It was extremely slow. Our drinks did not arrive until we had finished our meals. Also we were missing part of the food order. Waiters/ waitresses did not seem to know what was going on. Unacceptable for a hotel restaurant.

17/02/2026: I have a usual order that I have been ordering for the last 12 years. Everyone in Mezza Portlaoise knows my order. I went in one night and ordered my usual. I got home and discovered what I got was not my usual. I went back a couple of days later and the guy who appears to be in charge said he was surprised when my food was being handed out to me wasn't my usual order despite acknowledging that I had clearly ordered my usual order. I hadn't planned on asking for my next order to be free but when this guy acknowledged that what I got was not what I ordered I expected that 12 years as a customer might mean something and I asked if the order i had just submitted would be free gratis. Nope, wasn't going to happen and I made it very clear I will not set foot in this establishment again. Good customer service is not hard folks but apparently it is.
