The best restaurants in Portlaoise

01/06/2025: Recently had a birthday party here for my daughter and I have to say it's absolutely terrible! Staff haven't a clue, the entrance exit gates to and from the soft play area are a ridiculous idea! Can't get through them without a staff member. My sister was having a medical emergency and my partner couldn't get through the gate to help, she had to scream to get a member of staffs attention. A mixture of under staffed and unqualified. The party area has thrones and we asked for my daughter to have one and the worker replied with "I have you the big room because there's more people". I was pouring drinks for the kids and the lid of the jug popped off and absolutely drenched 2 kids and their food to which we pointed out and they didn't replace the food. Usually I don't leave reviews but if anyone sees this and takes heed of it I'll be satisfied. An idea would be to either add a high button that released the gate for people to get in and out or give the adults the code so they don't have to scream for a workers attention.

01/05/2025: Met my sister's here with their kids. Very busy staff seemed under pressure very little available from shop.

04/05/2025: The food was amazing. A prefect place for lunch. I hope I can come again soon maybe for dinner. For anyone thinking about having lunch out try Mulhall restaurant.

03/03/2025: Absolutely horrible frozen food straight out of aldi dipped in boiling petrol somehow took 30 minutes and then the foreign man behind the counter wouldn’t let me sit inside unless I payed an extra €4 when there wasn’t a sole inside while it was dark and cold out simply because “I didn’t order pizza” chips were like wet bag of oul lads dead foot skin drenched in vinegar, Philly cheese “steak” was like boot leather in a bun drenched in sauce so u don’t notice. there was a sign reading “spend over 35 get a free large bottle” however this didn’t apply to me because I spent 39.50????.food disintegrated packaging, rude service and I feel quite unwell to be honest. Over all bad experience save urself the pain of eating here (outside the shop).

24/03/2025: Really nice place , but air-conditioning was bit too much .. Needed to put coat back on mid way through movie ..but otherwise perfect

30/01/2025: Went for a meal when my order came out the chicken dish I ordered was very tough and chewy I sent it back and it was brought back to me saying there was nothing wrong with it . I didn’t eat it. When I went to pay they didn’t want to know about it . I had been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. It has changed ownership , never be back again. John k

22/02/2025: Big thanks to Daniel for the cocktail class valentines weekend, he was brilliant, informative and friendly! We also had food in the bar afterwards and it was lovely, highly recommend!

18/01/2025: Large group in for food service was quick beef and burger looked nice and herself had the curry said it was nice i had the "beer battered cod" it was rotten whoever is over the batter needs to be trained on what a beer battered cod should taste like the batter was like something youd get from a Chinese on a chicken ball a frozen piece would have been nicer was raging i didnt go for beef but i like a good fish and chips sadly i wouldnt recommend it here the dog wouldnt eat it everything else was good

08/04/2025: Food itself was lovely, however this place is severely let down by their delivery driver. We were 4 minutes late to opening the gate for him to enter the estate and when he got out of the car, he shouted straight at me saying he was waiting for 15 minutes for us to open the door. Firstly no he wasn’t and I have CCTV to prove otherwise secondly, regardless of if you’re annoyed at us you don’t speak to a paying customer like that. We won’t be ordering from here again, shame really as food is delicious.

07/02/2025: Ordered a mega box and house special noodles with black bean sauce and fried rice The mega box was horrible everything was soggy and stuck together and cold and the wrong sauce was on the noodle box, some kind of peppery spicy sauce. Won’t be ordering again

04/05/2025: We were buying from here one night a week my partner an I got food Thursday night and long hairs cooked in the rice disgusting I got sick all the food went in bin never again

02/03/2025: This is my second time in two weeks having an issue with delivery from here. First time half our order was left out, they did drop up the food but we had to eat separately. Second time today, order placed at 17:18 and delivered at 18:41. Food was cold..driver just dropped and left. Usually the food is very good here but in the last while it has gone really downhill. Was asked if they would send you more but not worth waiting 40 mins again for.

30/03/2025: Absolutely brilliant. Got the pizza i wanted with jalapeños that wasn't on the menu. They were very busy but looked after everyone

20/01/2025: We ordered a large amount of pizzas for delivery and unfortunately what we received was just not nice. The pizzas were all extremely greasy and not very hot.

04/05/2025: The food is tasty, if it actually arrives. Nearly 100% of the time we have ordered from McDonalds, multiple things have been wrong or missing. Even with as few as 2 people, they have forgotten burgers (the main component of a MEAL), chicken nuggets, everything. Literally we went through the drive through and they STILL got our order wrong! I have honestly never seen any other food place get orders wrong so constantly.

04/05/2025: If I had my way, I wouldn't even have given 1 star. Received our order and half the order was missing. We left a note on the order to ensure all the order was there before being delivered. Absolute joke. Spoke to a "Craig" from McDonald's and he was completely useless and unhelpful. He had an attitude on the phone and didn't even apologise for the mix-up. Kept making up excuses and blaming JustEat. Please avoid with all costs. Staff don't care and won't help. Should be retrained. Disgraceful.
