Square - Speciality Coffee Bar - Portlaoise

09/12/2025: This is probably the best coffee shop in Portlaoise. The interior is really lovely and it’s a great place to sit.
The Coffee:
As a specialty coffee fan, I was a bit upset that they don't serve Filter coffee, only espresso-based drinks. They also have a lot of syrups on the counter, which isn't usually a signal for a strict "specialty" coffee shop.
The Food & Milk:
However, the alternative milks here are amazing—definitely a highlight. I also have to mention that they have really nice dessert options, which go perfectly with the coffee.
Verdict:
Overall, it is a lovely cafe and the best option in town. Just keep in mind it's more of a comfort-coffee spot (syrups and lattes) rather than a pure specialty black coffee roaster..

27/10/2025: 2 of us arrived and even though they were mad busy. The lovely staff fit us in for some food and gave us a gorgeous roast beef dinner. I'd highly recommend here for food for anyone passing or in the area.

19/11/2025: Back again!! I was here ages ago and thought it was great and couldn't get much better, but I was wrong. Loads more upgrades, new little cafe area for a cuppa and cake while you watch the kids in the soft play and take a min to yourself. We had a great time again, my 84 yr old father came for the drive with us and he sat watching us on the TV when we played the lazer tag he was amazed!! We were so well looked after love roller skating with the kids its so much fun, kids also played indoor soccer to end off a very busy day, we were there for hours. Also for anyone that thinks them arcade games never pay out ... well my 8 year old is living proof, he hit the €150 prize, the manager/owner came out personally to hand over the cash. He was a great sport and so good with my son. Keep up the good work all the staff are a credit to the place. See you all again soon.
