25/08/2026: lovely bakery with great pastries and soda bread. unfortunately closed on one of our visits but guessing that was due to Mayo winning the all ireland the day before -fair enough. ☺️

19/08/2026: We popped into Hogans on a number of occasions, whilst over in Ireland this week with an extended group of family members
Padraig, the owner, was really friendly and helpful to us all. Service was excellent and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming
Live music on Sunday was excellent and the cocktails were superb. This will now be one of our regular bases for future trips

Rouse's Bar

07/06/2026: Traveled through the West of Ireland and when I arrived in Ballina, I walked around town in the evening. Asked around for trad and got told to go to Rouse's. Went in for just a pint, left 4 hours later. Everybody was very friendly, I loved the atmosphere, had great chats and even got invited to sing. It felt very communal and like most knew each other - but I still felt very much included. Had one of the best nights I've had in Ireland so far. Thanks so much!

03/06/2026: Very nice staff but ridiculous prices. More expensive than Dublin. €11 for a Bagel with cream cheese and a Flat White. I suspect even the staff thought it was pricey as they offered me a free refill!

The Kitchen, Mount Falcon Estate

19/06/2026: Went for a falcon tour and it was absolutely amazing. Daniel was an exceptional guide and host.
10/06/2026: Met with Daniel and was given a little lesson on the birds of prey. We held a little falcon. And got up close to a big owl named gandolf, a snow owl named snowy, a barn owl named Ashley that had the softest feathers, and met our walking companion hunter the hawk. Daniel lead us on a small walk through the woods switching wearing the falconry glove as hunter swooped after us. Daniel was a wonderful, informative, and enthusiastic guide! Would definitely recommend this experience!!
