The best restaurants in Ballina

24/04/2025: We had a delicious meal here. The dining room is absolutely stunning and the staff were so helpful and well informed. Highly recommended.

01/03/2025: Very Disappointing Experience. My partner and myself stayed here for one night. On arrival to our room we were greeted with the most horrible smell from the bathroom drains which was overpowering for our entire stay. The bath was also dirty and rusted. We were left some stale biscuits in a jar in the room which we enjoyed looking out at the view through our dirty windows. We paid an extra 60 euro on arrival to use the leisure facilities. Surely for the price of the run down rooms this could have been included as it's the only draw to the property. I put on my robe and managed to get it tied up although all the loops had been torn off and went to the thermal suite. The suite is nice we enjoyed it but I think paying for it with the crazy room rates is a bit much. The evening restaurant lacks any atmosphere. It's like eating in a quiet airport bar and lacks any personality. We ordered our food and the starters were nice. The waiter brought our mains to the wrong table and left the man on the table beside us to eat my partner's steak while the rest of us had nothing. My food was brought back to the kitchen. They rushed my partner's medium steak and it came out rare, unrested and leaked all over the plate. My duck was at this stage dry, cold and horrible. Desserts were not nice. Dry tough pecan pie and a hard jelly like pana cotta. Not good enough when claiming high standards. Breakfast was fine but very slow and the food was just not great. Using the run off juice off the berry compote and putting it in a shot glass and calling it a super health shot was embarrassing and it's just not nice. Cutting corners and missing the small details will only last so long with those rates being charged. The restaurant is a soulless shambles. We would never recommend this place and will never return. No value whatsoever. Very disappointed with The Ice House.

14/03/2025: Great pub brilliant amsphere on a Friday and Saturday night there a good night bar on until 3 they’re a story to every seat to the bar and the open the fire place. the land Lord is a fine mighty hamsome buck Ashame he not single:.: there was a drunken woman an older lady Joeanne ohh my…. she was coming on to partner Saturday but the locals told her off her partner not impressed. I love this pub the bar man what a gentleman…:.. overall the pub and restaurant and bar is worth alone coming to Ballina everyone was so friendly very welcoming.

04/04/2025: It’s our go to place when we return to Ireland, we land into Knock and once we hit Ballina it’s straight to jimmy’s for a coffee. The staff are fab, coffee is always great. The donuts are a “10/10” according to our young son. The bakery looks incredible and they’re usually sold out by the afternoon. Also family run and home grown - what’s not to love?!

21/03/2025: Not sure about the rest of those reviews but myself and my partner(both serious coffee addicts!) just had 2 of the best coffees of our lives from here. The sausage rolls (one vegetarian and one regular) were savage too! Definitely worth a visit!

25/02/2025: I just do not get this place. We ordered fish and chips and sausage and chips. We waited an eternity, as they were busy. They put both orders in brown bags. When we came to eat them, the chips were mush. You could not eat them. If you tried to use a fork, they broke in half. They had not been fried in hot enough fat nor blanched to make them crispy. Putting them in bags makes them steam. The fish was total mush. The batter had disintegrated into the chips, and it just made the chips even more sodden. It was the worst piece of fish we have ever eaten. The bit I don't get, why is it busy? We will never come back.

01/05/2025: The "irish McDonald's". Typical fast food franchise, not bad, not good, but definitely a special, characteristic part of Ireland, and the irish culinary culture. 4 star because its fast food - very tasty but in a high amount its unhealthy.

06/04/2025: Ordered 1 burger and 1 chicken tenders meal. Food as expected. Chicken tenders freshly cooked👍 but service was very slow. Thought they had forgotten our order as others came in after us, ordered and were half way through their meal by time we got ours. Had to go ask about it....which is disappointing

25/04/2025: This hotel is lovely but the staff makes it.anna so lovely so kind and nothing a problem. Looking forward going bk in June.staff are amazing food fab highly recommend this hotel😊

05/03/2025: A great hotel undergoing a remodel. The beds are superbly comfortable, as are the pillows. Guest has access to a leisure club facility. Cons: We could not get our shower to turn warm. Luckily, there was a bath option. To use the pool, guests are required to buy a swim cap for €4 each, and children are not permitted after 7 p.m. Overall, I would book again.

16/05/2025: We waited over 20mins for 3 sandwiches for take away. Table service was served quicker. 11 euro for dry steak sandwich with nothing else inside. And still had to remind them about the rest of the order that I didnt get. Unfortunately I wont come back.

26/04/2025: Busy Saturday afternoon, stopped for a quick lunch. Nice girl served me at the counter. Ordered sausage roll which came with 2 mixed salads. Pot of tea for 2. Sausage was quite large but looked great. Served at table. Salad had no dressing and there was none available when I went to get some. Salad a bit bland, however it was fresh and wholesome. The sausage roll was quite dense and strong tasting. Had 2 bites. Low grade meat. Tea was lovely. Should’ve ordered a toastie. My fault. I will return but will order what everyone else is having.

03/03/2025: Staff were nice. Burger was a little overcooked and so were the fries. Most of the tables were covered in rubbish from previous customers with no sign of anyone coming to take it away or clean the surfaces. I wasn’t that comfortable while eating my food while surrounded by all of that.

04/02/2025: This is a shared premises with Londis. I actually got lunch in the supermarket instead. The meal was excellent and service was great.

05/05/2025: I love drinking coffee here, it’s very cozy, I recommend it.
