The best restaurants in Ballina

22/03/2025: We didn’t try any food, but my husband and I absolutely loved both of our coffees! The cappuccino and caramel latte were so smooth and creamy! They have homemade caramel from a shop around the corner which to me levels up a latte since there isn’t any store bought flavoring in your drink! The staff were so sweet and so welcoming too!

10/02/2025: Myself and a few others had breakfast here this morning.. Food was ok, but the service wasnt fantastic. Took ages to get milk and a few sachets of sugar (to be thrown down) for tea and coffees.. and then there was a lady with blonde hair with a fringe and glasses behind the bar was quite snappy with us when we were paying. Personally staff arent very nice, and go else where in future. But to the red haired girl, absolutely lovely that took our order. Bit of customer service training wouldn't go astray lads!

28/01/2025: A great place to stay. Huge, very comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. Nice touches in the room. An impressively concise pre arrival text with parking and door code details. Lovely breakfast.

19/03/2025: I have messaged this business privately but they chose to not get back to me and I want to warn people incase the same thing happens to them. I was appalled by how my partner was treated at an event here last weekend. Despite purchasing tickets in advance and being loyal customers who dine here regularly, my partner was refused entry with no valid reason. He left feeling embarrassed and humiliated in front of his friends. If there was supposedly an issue, why weren’t we informed on any occasion we've dined and had drinks here in the past? Instead, they chose to spring this on him at the door, which was completely unfair and unprofessional. This in turn making our friends have no choice but to leave, 6 tickets gone to waste with no reimbursement is ridiculous. I’m incredibly disappointed at how a local business we really enjoyed could treat my partner like this with no valid reason. I won't be so quick to recommend to anyone in future.

15/02/2025: A week after the ferocious storm which had been on 25 January we went for a ride out to the coast as it was a very sunny, if slightly cool day. Late afternoon we drove to Ballina and thought we'd eat at the Ballina Manor hotel. What an exquisite place!. Lovely sumptuous carpeting and furnishings with dining tables set alongside windows affording lovely views of the river, bridge and the town. The meal was excellent. Very large portions, served hot and with the steak cooked to our liking. The service was excellent too. We cannot wait to eat there again.

04/02/2025: From the minute I arrived at the Ballina Manor the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and top marks for cleanliness. They all deserve recognition for excellent customer care, you're not a number here, the personal touch in every aspect of my stay.

29/12/2024: We went to this restaurant on a busy Saturday - a party of 21 with no reservation. The staff quickly sorted us with tables and we enjoyed a delicious meal and drinks. Very friendly and attentive servers - thank you!

01/03/2025: Very Disappointing Experience. My partner and myself stayed here for one night. On arrival to our room we were greeted with the most horrible smell from the bathroom drains which was overpowering for our entire stay. The bath was also dirty and rusted. We were left some stale biscuits in a jar in the room which we enjoyed looking out at the view through our dirty windows. We paid an extra 60 euro on arrival to use the leisure facilities. Surely for the price of the run down rooms this could have been included as it's the only draw to the property. I put on my robe and managed to get it tied up although all the loops had been torn off and went to the thermal suite. The suite is nice we enjoyed it but I think paying for it with the crazy room rates is a bit much. The evening restaurant lacks any atmosphere. It's like eating in a quiet airport bar and lacks any personality. We ordered our food and the starters were nice. The waiter brought our mains to the wrong table and left the man on the table beside us to eat my partner's steak while the rest of us had nothing. My food was brought back to the kitchen. They rushed my partner's medium steak and it came out rare, unrested and leaked all over the plate. My duck was at this stage dry, cold and horrible. Desserts were not nice. Dry tough pecan pie and a hard jelly like pana cotta. Not good enough when claiming high standards. Breakfast was fine but very slow and the food was just not great. Using the run off juice off the berry compote and putting it in a shot glass and calling it a super health shot was embarrassing and it's just not nice. Cutting corners and missing the small details will only last so long with those rates being charged. The restaurant is a soulless shambles. We would never recommend this place and will never return. No value whatsoever. Very disappointed with The Ice House.
