Update 4 years ago i letf review "best Chinese in town" well that change drastically. Food is terrible now i dont know what happen dry hot and spicy is not even close what it use to be. I was their comming back customer every weekend, but im not anymore

19/10/2025: Happy accident trying Jimmys that left us with no regrets. Great coffee that had a bonus brownie piece, tasty sausage rolls and addictive donuts. Worth a detour if you’re anywhere near Ballina!

17/10/2025: I'd like to give it 5 stars, but we had some minor issues (which were resolved), but they make it impossible for me to give it that rating of perfection. The location is idyllic, as is the maintenance of the castle, the rooms, and the gardens and surrounding area. But I don't understand how, after booking two rooms almost two months in advance, they put them in different hallways, especially when one of the two nights they had a huge party in one of the lower rooms, and the sound clearly reached one of them. Given this problem, I must clarify that at 11:30 p.m., they changed our room, which I appreciate because it allowed me to rest. But if they already have that party booked and know about the poor soundproofing, why do they give a guest the room upstairs? Another of the major problems we had was the cold in the room itself, since there is no air conditioning; but fortunately, as soon as you call to complain about it, they bring electric heaters. But a luxury hotel of these characteristics should have all the amenities in the room by now, especially at the price they charge. Plus, dinners were served in an outdoor tent. I imagine that in the middle of August, this must be a great option. But at the end of September, it's cold. And although the menu is adequate, the dishes are well-prepared, and the quality of the food is very good, it's unacceptable that the solution is to give guests blankets for dinner. Finally, I was outraged that the parking area designated for people with disabilities was occupied by horse trailers. We all like to park close to the door, but we have to think about others. In any case, this is our second visit to this hotel, and I hope there will be a third. The rooms are beautiful and beautifully decorated. The service at breakfast, the bar area, and the dinner tent all have impeccable service; and as I said at the beginning, the place is absolutely idyllic.

31/10/2025: We had an incredible experience at the Ice House Hotel from start to finish. The riverside views are stunning, and the mix of modern design with the historic charm of the building is just beautiful. Our room was spotless, spacious, and had the most comfortable bed — plus that huge window overlooking the River Moy made it feel so peaceful. The staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely went out of their way to make our stay special. Dinner at the restaurant was outstanding — fresh local ingredients, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. The spa was another highlight — relaxing, spotless, and the outdoor hot tubs by the river were a dream! We left feeling completely relaxed and pampered. Highly recommend the Ice House Hotel for anyone looking for a luxury getaway in a serene setting. We can’t wait to come back!

29/10/2025: Great thing about the icehouse was the view from the rooms. Absolutely stunning. Wouldn’t rave about the food but it was fine. People working there were very friendly and professional.

11/10/2025: Got a take away here last night after a road trip, had to travel another 25mins after collecting it. Food was still piping hot when I'd say down to eat it, the portion was bigger than other Chinese, and to top of off, the portion of chicken was unreal! And fresh, no chewy chicken like the lantern! Absolutely beautiful and nicely priced 🥰 Well done Team Ocean Palace!

03/10/2025: A lovely spot for tea and a pastry! They have a variety of sweets and loaves of bread for purchase, as well as some sandwiches that come out around lunch time.

20/08/2025: I absolutely loved loved this place. My children love a good toasted sandwich and this was one of the best My son has two cups of hot chocolate, the best he ever had (his words) Such good food, great service and really filling
