24/05/2025: Based on the reviews we read, we decided to have lunch at Lava Rock Restaurant. Even before ordering, we found out that this outlet does NOT serve alcohol. A pity given the menu they feature. Anyway my wife ordered the Rigatoni Pasta and I took the Chicken Curry. Both dishes were simply excellent! We shared a raspberry cheese cake for dessert. Service was courteous and helpful! Krimo Birem our server even offered us to get us beer from the nearby pub!! Highly recommended!

Definitely will come back.

02/06/2025: After a long day of travel, we picked this place at random for dinner as they didn't appear to be too busy.
The interior is that of an authentic Irish bar. It almost felt like the restaurant part was an afterthought and the focus remained on the bar side. There were plenty of open tables, and the hostess told us to pick a seat wherever we wanted. She had to wipe down the table before we sat as it was sticky. Plenty of flies to go around as well.
Our experience with the service was a bit disappointing. Our server told us at the beginning that she never works the evening shift, so she didn't know much about the menu and couldn't answer basic questions, so we had to wing our order. Each time she came back to the table, she mixed up something between my wife and I, like handing us the wrong food or drinks, which in the grand scheme of things was not a big deal but quickly got annoying after it happened every time.
For dinner, my wife had the roasted chicken and I had the beef filet. Both were cooked well and had good flavor.
For dessert, we tried to order 3 to go but between the server and cook, they could not figure out how to package one of the desserts. The server came back and asked us to change our order, which we did. She then returned with our original order.
When it was time to leave, we had to wait at the til for an extended period while they found our server, and she entered our meal into the POS system for payment, during which she continued to struggle.
Overall, the food was good, service and atmosphere were not up to par, would probably pass on a return visit.
15/05/2025: Our cruise ship tour stopped here after visiting the castle. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The owner was always present, trying to help people, pouring coffee, taking requests, etc. The food was quite good, and the service for 38 people was great, given that we all showed up at the same time. it is right around the corner from the castle in a very good location. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. It looks to have a very nice bar and plenty of seating, etc…

28/12/2024: This is by far the nicest, most welcoming friendliest take away I have ever been to. I recently while passing through cahir decided to stop in here , and I can’t stop but think about going back everyday for some food and the main guy working behind the counter is the friendliest, nicest person I have met. I am from clonmel and there is just something about cahir where the people are more friendly,nicer and more welcoming and the food in this Chinese is the nicest food I have ever got. Absolutely delicious and thank you for being so nice. I will be back and recommend this Chinese to everyone I speak to , for the food and the kindness. Thank you all for being so nice.

02/06/2025: Coffee is nice. However, this place is really only good for tourists. The owners are unwelcoming and come across as disingenuous which is kind of unfortunate for owners of a cafe. I’m from Cahir but only visit family here once a year so thought it would be nice to visit a local place! However, I feel more welcome in Starbucks in a foreign country… which isn’t saying much. However, tourists won’t notice on a one off visit, so they probably do ok.
16/03/2025: Delicious coffees. Delicious homemade baking and vegan options. Very good service when it was very busy and only one staff member working at the time.

31/12/2024: I’ve eaten from here maybe 4/5 times total and each time I’ve either gotten sick from the food or found hairs under the cheese of my pizza. The last straw for me was when the owner physically attacked my uncle and then went to the local Gardaí to tell them that my uncle attacked him. The attack was completely unprovoked. My family and I don’t give them business anymore, neither do any friends, both familt friends and friends of my own. The same goes for Ladrigans next door after the owner of the pizzeria purchased it

08/06/2025: Went here once and never again. Food was poor, coffee / drinks were awful and staff weren’t much better… seemed to be grumpy and moody when we stepped in the door. Could do with learning some manners or learning to smile, especially the lady with the British accent. Never again, you’re better off going elsewhere for food.
