The best restaurants in Carlow

28/10/2024: We are visiting Ireland and are so happy because this is exactly what we had hoped to find in a local pub. Great ambiance, wonderful beer, a big 5 stars to our bartender and the other patrons made the visit all the better. Go for the beer, stay for the people, and take in all that's around you.

15/02/2025: We had a reservation at 9 pm and arrived on time. Our order was taken around 9:30 pm, we ordered 1 starter + 2 mains ,we waited 45 min for the drinks ( coke & Water) we were waiting for an hour and a half and our food never arrived, after an hour and 40 minutes we decided to leave because their service was a joke. Also whilst waiting we saw Many delivery orders leaving by the restaurant whilst people who were at the restaurant were upset and waiting for their door. We weren't the only ones who experienced this. It was about 5 couples there waiting for food and upset. They should hire more people or don't commit to take bookings/ so many deliveries if they cannot handle it and provide a decent service to the ones waiting at the restaurant. Also after waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes my husband went to pay for the drinks we ordered and after the terrible experience the they charged us for the drink. The least they could do was to not charge us.We are not coming back and definitely we don't recommend this place.

16/03/2025: The rooms are OK and the food is good but the hallways and the stairs look like something from a scary movie and the dirt of them they really need to fix that and move the smoking area because it take the look off the front. Don't think I would stay here again but I would go for food but that's about it

26/02/2025: Used to love this restaurant. The limitations on their hospitality have changed for the worse. This was an excellent review but downgraded due to two recent experiences. For almost ten years, we have celebrated several birthday parties here each year. Four to be exact, all parties comprising the same numbers of about 8 to 14 people. Each time, we noticed a deterioration in the offering and general service. This past experience was our last. As with each year, we brought a birthday cake to make the occasion. We always only attend on a midweek night when the restaurant is almost empty. The numbers have been dropping year on year. Thus year, they refused to assist with the birthday cake, saying we could order desserts from the menu, which we always have regardless. The way it was handled was completely embarrassing. They took the cake and put it in the fridge, as they had every year. This year, they refused to cut it. Not only did they lose out on the dessert sakes that particular evening, they also lost our family custom entirely. Instead of having the four birthday parties, midweek, when the restaurant I is closed, they have lost all our custom. The staff have always been handsomely tipped. They got no tip this last time. We have found that there are three other tapas restaurant s in Carlow, who are happy to take our business and won't be troubling Pimento again. In business, the proprietary, shouldn't get arrogant and complacent when fast success lands. It can turn around just as quickly.

08/03/2025: The 3 of us visited Billy’s today on a trip home from Laois , from the minute we stepped in we recieved a warm welcome from the waitress who was extremely helpful ,we didn’t get a chance to take any photos we got stuck in :), if you love satay /curry sauce this is 100 % the best !

18/12/2024: What on earth has happened to your brown Soda bread? It used to be lovely & crusty but now it’s soft & breaks up when cutting. Please have some crusty ones first thing on Saturday mornings as my husband buys at least 3 & numerous white loaves 🤞

16/02/2025: If every hotel in ireland was ran as good as the seven oaks in carlow I personally think irish would be more prone to staying here at holiday times instead of lining the pockets of other countries. Iv being going there now for over 30 years. I'm now 48 .and have,stayed in a lot of hotels none of them even come close to the welcome/ organisation/ and helpfullness of the staff and management there even,the house keeping staff are outstanding. So I would really recommend a stay and you'll see what I mean. PATRICK AND TRACEY CALLAGHAN

15/10/2024: Popped in here yesterday for lunch. Ideally located in the middle of Fairgreen Shopping Center. Good amount of delicious sandwich options. Really enjoyed my House Special Panini and cappuccino. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Would definitely come back if I'm in Carlow again.
